I had my RNY on 2/17 and have had severe pain around my incision sites. Particularly the open wound from where my drain was. I'm really trying not to be a downer about this, but it's really difficult when my husband who had GS on the same day is doing so much better. Has anyone else encountered this? I'm also having a horrible time getting the protein shakes down. I can do water and broth no problem but the shakes seem to sit in my throat. I know that I need to take things slowly and body is having a massive adjustment, but it's really hard not to compare myself to my husband or what others are doing who had their surgery around the same time.

Thanks y'all! We're just praying and praying!

So yesterday my husband was getting a little antsy and decided to call the hospital to see what out portion for the hospital would be, if they had already pre-admitted us (etc). They kindly said they call all patients the day before surgery with all that information and more. Alrighty. Then my husband called the surgeon's office to make sure everything was still good on their end. Lo and behold, the labs and EKG that we did at the beginning of January came back with a small issue on my husband's EKG. First off, when where they planning on telling us/him? Second, he was told that the surgeon will only continue with his surgery if he has a stress test done. Now remember, this is all transpiring Friday afternoon; surgery is Wednesday! After calling the hospital (in town) and explaining that we need a stress test done ASAP, the very kind scheduler put him on for Tuesday. (Surgery is Wednesday) Needless to say, I had quite the panic attack yesterday. I keep praying-not my time but YOURS.

Today is the first day of the rest of my life. At least that's what I keep telling myself. Ha! I should back up; my husband and I are both having WLS on Feb 17. I'm having GB and he's having SG. We have 2 boys aged 10 and 9 years. To so that I am excited is not even in my vocabulary. But also to say that I am anxious, well that's very real. I suffer from extreme anxiety and depression and fibromyalgia. All that to say, I'm nervous. I'm nervous about leaving my children. I'm nervous about my husband having his first ever surgery. I'm nervous about being able to not have sugar. So, now that I have vomited at the mouth a bit...today it day 1. I will be healthier. I will be stronger. I will be me.

So far my pre-op diet has been going well. I haven't had caffeine headaches and overall I feel ok. Today, however has just been rough. I feel terrible. I don't want to do anything, everything seems to be running thru me and now I have a headache. I'm not sure if everything is starting to fully hit my body or what. Anyone else had problems similar to this pre-op?
