It is bizarre how a nut can have such power of me. I guess it can be anything, for me the salt and crunchiness was what I was missing. I have always had some kind of oral fixation, I used to smoke along time ago, thank you God, I was a nail biter for the longest time too. I seem to always want to be doing some type of chewing thing, I think that is one of those harder things for me, I can chew gum until my jaws hurt. Well, just to reinforce staying away from almonds, when I stopped I dropped out of the 170's yipeeeeee!!! 166 and dropping...... Michelle

Melissa-OMG! I am still LOL about wearing the tag size on the outside of your pants! You are too funny! Anyway, I had to go back 8 ages and read up on everybody. It has been a while since I have been on. I had a fill then had to unfill 1/2 of it. I tell you I am so grateful for you guys and reading everyones experiences. It really puts me right on track. I gave up the nuts and dropped 8 pounds. I am not a big sweet eater but nuts are definitely my downfall. I have realized as long as I don't eat the very first one I am great. That sounds kind of funny but as soon as I have just 1 nut I am off to the races. I have to stay away completely. I have tried so many times to just have a couple. That's addiction for ya. I didn't go through a surgery just to sabotage it with nuts. I really enjoyed the ski stories too. We go over the first weekend in March every year and what a HUGE difference in last year to this year. Two years ago I didn't even ski, it was just too hard. This year I was whipping around everywhere and totally enjoyed it & my kids too. It is really sad how much fun I missed out on with them because I couldn't physically do it. My youngest son who is 7 and I spent one day tubing down the hill and just had a blast. It is definitely great to finally be participating in life again. Michelle

Am I wrong for wanting Lap Band

Hi there, I had my band done in May 2007. I weighed 205 and am 5'2. I was turned down from BC/BS but had it done anyway. I don't regret it at all. I had some other physical problems but for me I came to the decision because of all the emotional ups and downs. Good Luck to you! Michelle

Hello, Peanutaholic here. It has been a week since I rid the house of nuts and guess what... 3 pounds down from last week. We went to a bible study last night and they had a dish there with peanuts, I was soooo tempted but I also knew if I started there I would be driving to 7/11 for peanuts later on. Amazing how it is never one peanut, or Dorito or ice cream or whatever.... I just need to stay away from that 1st one. Melissa-Thanks for clearing up the PB question boy I would have never guessed that one.

Hello Everyone, OK, I just have to ask what does PB stand for? I know what it means but my husband and I have tried to figure out the abbreviation. As you can probably tell we aren't vary tech savvy and are pretty new to text messaging. We definitely had a good laugh trying to figure it out. Does anyone know why somedays we can have tons of slime and others none? What causes that? Michelle

Mini, Thanks for the welcome. I am from New Lenox, Illinois. It is a suburb of Chicago. I had my surgery on May 21, 2007. I have had 3 fills. I feel like I am on the other side of a mountain finally. I should probably be part of the slow losers forum but I guess I am hoping that will change. It really feels great to have others who are walking the same direction. I turned 40 in November and really feel it is time to take my life back. I have 4 children and the youngest just started school so it feels good to make and take the time for myself. We moms can really put the guilt on when we focus on us. I have only lost 33 pounds. My high was 205. I am shooting to say goodbye to the 170's by the end of the month. With having this new tool (forum) I think I can do it. Thanks again for the welcome

    Hope

Hi May 2007 Bandsters! I am so excited and hopeful to have found this forum. I have gone back and read the past messages of all the May bandsters and can so relate to much of the discussions. Of course I also got kind of bummed because my numbers are slightly lower than all of yours but I guess as long as they're going down that is all that matters. I put a call into the nurse today to go over some diet tips and things I need to cut out. I started eating somethings that maybe I shouldn't have, like nuts. Thinking almonds would be good protein. Big mistake! Once I start on them forget it! I have been sticking to straight protein, no carbs but really wanted something crunchy. Well, I am hopeful that now having some support besides my closest friend & hubby I can walk together with you all.
