I bought a recumbent exercise bike so I can get plenty of cardio in before and after my surgery. My goal is an hour's pedaling each day, which should burn off nearly 1k calories a day. I figure that every little bit helps. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I think of a food funeral as your last chance to have those special foods you really enjoy before you can't have them again, as some people's tastes change post-surgery, or their bodies decide they're no longer on the menu. It's a farewell to food, an Irish wake of sorts, but without the hangover the next morning. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I'm on a full liquid diet...not just clears. Sent from my SM-N900V using the BariatricPal App I'm on a full liquid diet...not just clears. That would help with feeling more full, I think. Less feeling like you're starving, whether you are or not. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Questions about your forever diet after surgery
Sumaire replied to bostonmama's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm trying to plan ahead as much as possible. Thanksgiving and Christmas are coming up soon, and while I may be cooking those meals, I won't be able to eat them. I'm thinking broth from the turkey neck might be okay for Thanksgiving, though. -
Are you limited to Clear Liquids, or will you be allowed to have full liquids (oatmeal/farina, pudding, sherbet, creamed soups) during your pre-surgery diet? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

October Surgery Buddies

It's a lot nicer when you can do what others do to get rid of the weight and be healthier again, but not all people are that fortunate. We are some of those less fortunate people, but we're taking the step of getting a tool to help us become healthier. I think that takes a LOT of bravery. October Surgery Buddies
Sumaire replied to limesqueeze23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use My Fitness Pal, which can be free, but if you want to micromanage (macromanage?) your nutrients, you need to pay either $10 a month, or $50 for the year. Personally, I chose a year, as it's $70 a year cheaper than paying monthly. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
October Surgery Buddies
Sumaire replied to limesqueeze23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
October 27th can't come fast enough for me. My birthday is the 20th, so I'm happy I only have a one week liquid diet. LOL -
My daughter is against the surgery, and I have had to stand firm and tell her that it's going to happen, no matter what her opinion on the matter. My mother, who suggested that I get surgery has suddenly decided not to answer my last two emails about my info being submitted to the insurance company, and then 10 days later, my email telling her that I'd been approved. My take on this is that I am doing this for ME. I want to get healthier, as I have several health issues that are exacerbated by my morbid obesity. I'm not doing it to find a lifemate, I'm doing this so that I don't end up with diabetes (I'm pre-diabetic right now, and on metformin for it), that I can chuck the CPAP machine, that I can walk more than half a block without having to stop to rest, etc., ad nauseum. That's how I'm handling it. Yes, it's hurtful that I'm not getting family support, but I do have friends who are being supportive, and as long as I have them to support me, I'll survive it. Plus, if and when my daughter sees how well my own weight loss journey goes, she might decide to have the surgery, too, as she is dangerously obese, and also has severe chronic obstructive sleep apnea. Good luck to you.

Clear Liquid Diet: Day 1
Sumaire replied to missvee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hm. My liquid diet also includes "full liquids" like oatmeal, cream of wheat, yogurt, pudding, etc. -
It's on mine, as well. That will make the time a bit less boring, anyway.

My daughter hasn't flipflopped, but she's been unsupportive. She's afraid that something bad will happen and that I'll die because of the surgery, which is scheduled for 10/27/16, a week after my birthday. MAN, what a birthday present! For a long while, she was nagging at me, grabbing any negative statistic she could find about the surgery, but I didn't let it obviously get to me. The nagging has stopped, and now she's doing the whole "well, we won't be able to eat together now" thing, which you all and I know isn't the case. My Mom, who, a couple years ago, told me that I should look into it, as I am morbidly obese, and have several serious health issues as a result, hasn't responded to my last two emails to her, where I first told her that my information had been submitted to insurance for surgery approval, and then my email to her last Wednesday, telling her that it had been approved. Family is weird, I suppose. We just have to find a way to deal with it.

Umm, how do you tell your daughter she might need this?
Sumaire replied to OKCPirate's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm scheduled for GBS on October 27, 2016, and I'm hoping that my daughter will see that it's not the bogeyman she's implied it is and eventually decides to have it, herself, as she's considerably more morbidly obese than I am. I hate seeing how uncomfortable she is, and I know that this would be an excellent tool for her to get down to a healthy weight. it's just so frustrating for me. At least she's stopped nagging me about it, although I expect that as surgery day becomes closer, the nagging will resume. -
