I'm using Flintstones Complete chewables, and Caltrate Calcium & D3. The doctor is really pleased with my choices.

Laparoscopic Gastric Bypass Surgery 10/24/2016
Sumaire replied to DelRey310's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We're nearly neighbors! I live in Pomona, and had my surgery in Glendale on October 27th. Things were fairly uneventful, except for the "substantial" hiatal hernia he had to repair while I was on the table. Even with that, surgery only took two hours. The pain will eventually go away. I haven't had gas pain, so much as pain from the hernia repair site, but that's finally calming down, too, a little over two weeks later. I wish you well on your journey. :-) -
Had mine the 27th, now a little more than two weeks out, and I'm down 20+ pounds since my surgery date, and down a pants size. My doctor put me on puréed foods on Tuesday. He's got me on Protonix for a year, to keep the acid down while everything heals up. Everything has been fairly uneventful so far. My surgeon is pleased with my progress, and wants to see me again in two months.

sleep in 16 years? My daughter is 33 and I still have trouble sleeping. Your parents are already laughing about your misconception. HW 299 SW 283 CW 276.4 GW 125 RNY 10/27/16

As of today, I'm at 274.2 pounds. I'm not stressing about the amount of weight I have or have not lost so far. It'll leave eventually. :-) I can't remember the last time I was in that area, weight-wise. My gut feels fine, but the hernia area is sore and testy. Tramadol isn't helping, nor is Norco. :-( Meanwhile, I slept about 12 hours from last night till today. I figure it was just my body demanding quiet recovery time. Surgery went just fine. Five holes in my belly. He put in three sutures to repair the hernia, so that's the thing is giving me the most pain now. No gas pain to be had. Coughing is a nightmare at the hernia repair site. Was released on Saturday afternoon to full fluids, which surprised me. My surgery weight was 283, and this morning I was at 277.2. That's the lowest I have been in several years. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Four days post-op, RNY, with the repair of a substantial hiatal hernia. Looking for a local support group or individual who is up to listening to me talk about the new journey on which I've embarked. I'm in Pomona, CA, but am willing to drive a relatively short distance if you want to get together for the world's longest lasting glass of something "legal". Just received my bill.
Sumaire replied to Washington_girl's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
The insane part, is how little of that $99,000+ that your insurance company will even end up paying to the hospital. I can look online and see how much my insurance pays, versus what the bill is, and the difference is vast. They also tell the medical provider that they are not allowed to go after me for the difference. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Getting things packed for tomorrow morning. I have to be at the hospital by 6 AM, and then surgery is scheduled for 8 AM. The doctor has decided he is going to fix the hernia as well as do the bypass. Initially, he was going to wait on the hernia repair until everything healed up inside. I am looking forward to this new path in my life, and have no regrets. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

October Surgery Buddies

I just found out that my surgeon plans to fix my hiatal hernia when I get my RNY on Thursday. He had originally said he wanted to wait until my pouch healed, but he's apparently changed his mind. I'm wondering what my recovery will be like at this point. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Not Kaiser, but I do live in Pomona.

I bought a recumbent exercise bike off Amazon for less than $200, and I use that for my exercise. Our temperatures here in Southern California have been running towards 90° and over and I don't walk well in those kind of temperatures. Plus, I have back issues that make walking for long distances very hard for me. Downright painful. Just an idea. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I recommend subscribing for a year, as it's only $50 and you can micromanage your settings at that point. I've found it to be VERY useful. Plus, $50 for the year is much better than paying $10 a month and paying $70 than you should have to. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

OCTOBER GBs where are you?!?!
Sumaire replied to jtellechea001's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is October 27, exactly a week after my birthday. Fortunately, they're only making me do a week's worth of a liquid diet, so I'll actually be able to Celebrate. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I have a brewery I want to hit before I have my surgery. That is going to be my last alcohol for quite a long time. They have the most amazing Bourbon barrel aged beers there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Concerned family members
Sumaire replied to Tammyeb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My daughter is unsupportive, and is doing her level best to guilt me out of it. Her latest is about how "we're not going to be able to eat together anymore", and saying she'll have her main meal at lunch while she's at work. She knows I'm not going to relent, but that's not going to stop her passive-aggression, either. It's quite frustrating for me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
OCTOBER GBs where are you?!?!
Sumaire replied to jtellechea001's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My former insurance medical group kept telling me that I had to find a surgeon who had privileges at the hospital to which I'm assigned. That doesn't do bariatric surgeries. I had to change insurance to find one that would listen. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Just ordered some for myself, wendy918. Thanks for the recommendation. :-) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

OCTOBER GBs where are you?!?!
Sumaire replied to jtellechea001's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So ready. Surgery is 10/27 and can't come fast enough. I have a stock of Protein shakes set by for the preop phase, and just put together a recumbent exercise bike for daily exercise, as my spine and knee issues make walking difficult. Having mine in SoCal. You? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I think I'd contest that. Are they trying to use Medicaid guidelines or something? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
