I need to do this, no matter what
Micoxv replied to Micoxv's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello Ann, Sorry for the late reply. I have been traveling quite a lot these last weeks. Yes, stress is hard on us. I am doing some kind of meditation and relaxation exercises and it works. I am coping better with it. I am still going to the gym, and that is still the best stress relief I know. it is a process to control your emotions (in my case it is stress and mostly anger. Not that I am a violent person, but I have very little patience for BS lately ). take care, Mico -

So i got my throwing up challenges under control. I can't have lunch in a stressful environment. I need quiet and relaxed time to enjoy lunch. Last Friday I went to a fair well dinner that took forever and it was perfect . Still losing weight, still going to the gym. I start to see the changes (as I get a lot more comments lately). Doing good overall! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Hello, quick update as I have been quiet these days. I am not doing so good as I vomiting quite often after meals. I am trying to eat slowly, I even tried to go back to purée food. It is very random and food that is going well one day may not be well accepted another time. I don't understand why. My level of stress is very high lately (work and home related) and I am traveling constantly for the next weeks. Ithis morning I tried some scrambled eggs in the hotel after the gym and I had to rush to the toilets 15 minutes later. The relief is immediate though once it is out of my sleeve. I don't drink coffee anymore and I try to take food that will go easy on the sleeve. Did anybody experience this 3 months out? Hopefully I have some protein bars with me but can't live only on that... Thanks, Mico. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

. Thank you for your nice comment. I know it sounds cheesy but should we all not get a bit more respect with our dedication and resolution to change our lives? I know that we have some differences (gender, cultural, emotional etc.) and sometimes it can lead to some intense (aggressive?) thread exchanges I´ve read here and there, as I have been browsing the forum quite intensively. A the end, we are all trying to reach the same goal, following different paths and struggles. We congratulate and sometime admire ex drug addicts or former alcoholics for their recovery (There is a great post about this). Not obese people. We believe that it is just about eating too much. we know it is far more than that. We are some kind of recovering addicts (otherwise we would not have head hunger), and some of us fall again in the same trap along the way. I am trying not to be in that group.... but I am only 12 weeks out. I hope I can say the same 2 years from now. Right now, it is about rebuilding myself physically and emotionally once and for all. No more tries and failures. If I can inspire people as many of you have been inspiring, supporting and pushing me, then it is a nice way to contribute back. I thought I was struggling alone until I found this board. Now I know there are people all over the world doing the same. Respect to all! -

Thank you Chris. You are right. This board is amazing and it feels great to know that you guys know when we exchange about obesity and its consequences. That is something I have never been able to discuss / exchange on before. The foamies are the painful version of the reminder that you should not cross the lane and put you in the right path. I accept them, they are important. Hugs too. I hope you enjoyed your vacation and well done for the run! -

Hi, This is completely the case. She is worried about our future as she sees me changing a lot physically and she assumes I also change mentally. I want to be healthy, this is my main priority. My dad died at 57 after living a life of obese, heavy smoker and drinker. He saw it coming and did not want to pay attention to all the signals. I am NOT going to follow that path. To be honest, the nice side benefit is the change of image and how you are perceived. We ALL noticed that when you fit better in the "norm", things get easier. I am not going through a middle life crisis and with what happened to us a few months ago, I am there to support my wife and daughter. I can understand that with my intense travels and my new way of dressing she is worried. I am not going to be one of these guys (stereotypes) that fall for the 20's years old and start a new life. We will have a serious conversation at some point, but for now, I keep focusing on my transformation. Nothing can stop it -

don´t worry I have a thick skin . She is scared of the changes. I am a lot more confident in my life and I have new objectives. It is not easy to follow me sometimes. She is clearly afraid of that. It is kind of funny to use VSG as a fighting argument. She never mentioned my weight before... . -

So I should post this one under the rant section, but I am too lazy. I have been struggling over the last days to eat at the table with the family. Too fast, too much stress. It is not working for me. I ended up having heartburn and throwing up. Then I tried to explain nicely what I was going through. My 6 years old gets it. My wife not so much. She has been skinny all her life and she does not understand what struggling with weight is. Of course she had a period of her life when she had about 15 pounds extra, top. End of the world. She did a diet, exercised and she was done. She eats healthy and can control portions. Yesterday, I got another lecture on how with will power and motivation I could have succeeded without the sleeve, which is an easy way out. Really? Are you freaking kidding me??? No need to say the impact of this on my morale, especially when you just had the foamies.... Cherry on the cake was the last comment: "anyway, statistically you will gain back between 60 and 70% of your weight long term. Is it worth it?" Ouch. Not cool. No need to say that it has been pretty quiet at home since then. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Thank you Chris. Enjoy Cyprus! I did a 5k this morning, so I really need to rest this weekend . Have a good one too! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Hi, I have the same stats more or less, and I don´t think it was too fast. Make sure you eat enough proteins and keep your liquids up. Are you following your NUT advice? Did you notice muscle loss? this is the risk if you don´t work out or don´t take enough proteins. Don´t abuse vitamins as your body can´t process them all if you take too many tablets.

Please HELP! Weight Gain at the 6-7 Month Post Op Mark
Micoxv replied to ellie123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is the spirit. Back on track. Just learn how to say no. I was at a birthday of my daughter's friends last weekend (30 kids loaded with sugar...) I just said no to cakes. She knows that Daddy had problems with his tummy and she understands I can't eat what she does. She does not mind at all. She prefers that I spend time with her dancing, playing, swimming, than seating and eating cake. Furthermore, I assume you will be very busy with your other guests, which is a great excuse for not eating cupcakes. Make sure you eat your meal too so you are not hungry during the party. ave a drink with you all the time so you can sip on it. You can do this. For the travel, pack your bars, eat at the salad buffet, watch your carbs and hit the gym. You are in control. let us know how it goes! -

Hi, As I mentioned here I have been back to the gym and was on fire over the last weeks....Monday, Tuesday and yesterday I did even a bit more. Pushed a bit on the treadmill after intense weight lifting sessions. I was so proud of my sweaty t-shirt and my calories burnt. Then in the evening I was in the pool with my daughter racing. (she is 6 but can swim!). And then....I crashed at 9 PM. I could not take it anymore. This morning I was completely sore. No energy, no motivation. Bottom line: I did not go to the gym. I feel terrible about it, but I learned a lesson. I need to take it easy and don´t push the machine...as I am not 20 anymore (sigh...). It is a long run, not a sprint. Having said that, it is so great to feel that we can do more now that we weight less that it is easy to be carried away...and I lost 2 pounds in 3 days. There is nothing wrong with that . -
Hi, When was your surgery? You should take it very easy. No intense workout at least for 8 weeks after surgery. This was the recommendation from my surgeon. If you are aiming at 900 calories burnt in one session, it will be very intense. You really need to check with your medical team if you can do that. And yes, you will be exhausted. I am 11 weeks out, east 1200-1300 calories per day and I worked out harder this week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)... Yesterday evening I fell asleep at 9 PM, which never happens to me. I woke up this morning completely sore and exhausted. Bottom line, I skipped the gym and now I am mad at myself for pushing too hard. Getting back in shape is a slow and long process. Take your time.
