I went to Dr Garcia at Tijuana Bariatrics and had a fantastic experience. I paid 4250 all inclusive, super clean and modern hospital, transportation, and a few days at the mariott, which was also very nice. Dr Garcia is top notch. The care I received was way better than anything i have ever had in the US. My husband wasn't crazy about me getting surgery at all and was really against me going to mexico...until I went and he saw what it was like there and my results. I am having a similar issue, although I've lost more than 25. I'm 38 and am coming up on 1 yr. I have lost 90lbs total, but 33 were prior to surgery. I've been between 208 and 214 for almost 7 months. I don't get much excersize (besides chasing a 3yr old around) and let some carbs back in but nothing crazy. My surgeon actually suggests the patch. I used it for the first 2 months post op and my labs came in great. I take chewable centrums now. Have been told never use gummies

I used Dr Garcia last week and everything exceeded my expectations. The hospital was clean and the majority of the nurses spoke english. They treat you well. The mariott was beautiful and it was fun shopping the day before departure. I definateltly suggest him. I never really had gas pains or much pain in general except one incision thats still bothering me (my dog jumped on it twice as well as my 2 yr old daughter ugh). I threw up a few times in the first 24 hrs but that it.

I'm seeing him on 11/22 and bringing my husband. Is there anything in particular I should pack that come to mind?Sorry a lil late. I brought everything lol but only would have needed:Robe and slippers Comfy pants Extension cord for charging phone or tablet I bought nectar powder to go packs and some herbal tea packs Thats pretty much it. I was told heating pad, ab binder, gas x strips, mouth spray and a ton of other stuff but didnt use it.

Good luck. Im 6 days post op and been pretty much feeling normal since day 3. Not as bad as you think. Just ready for some actual food rather than sweet beverages

Day 5 now at home. Flew home yesterday, that was a very very long day. Left Mexico at 9:30am, home at 6:30pm. Feeling pretty good but so upset that I gained 10lbs from surgery weight! They warned me that I might gain a couple from the IV fluids but 10....geez! I know it will come off soon. Incisions are good except one is stinging a bit and kind of red. I'm getting my fluids in easily, much easier than others post about. Wondering if my pouch is slightly bigger than most. I'm tired because I can't sleep on my back and afraid to sleep on my stomach. I also have a 2 year old so that changes things. She just woke up from nap actually, so continuing later...

My journey really started 10 months ago when I attended a seminar locally and started the 6 months of classes and diet for insurance. I jumped through all the hoops for insurance and was denied. Fought for months and was denied a total of 5 times. I started reaearching mexico a few months ago as the backup plan and saw all excellent stuff about Dr Garcia so after my last appeal was denied, I scheduled with him and started my preop that day. Fast forward to today, 2 days preop. Everything went great. The drivers got me to my hotel which is beautiful then to CER hospital for surgery. The doctors and nurses were very attentive although some nurses knew limited english. My surgery was around 2pm. I woke in recovery at 4 and didnt go upstairs until 6. That night felt pretty bad for me. Extremely uncomfortable. Pretty much just slept and walked. Day 1 post op was pretty much the same. I felt a tiny bit better but not much. Walk 10 minutes, mess around on phone for 10 minutes, sleep an hour, repeat... the idea of any liquids was still not appealing but i managed to get 1 of the 3 Gatorades they brought me down. That night was a bit better. They brought me something to relax. I took that before bed and slept a long time. Woke up around 5am energized and feeling pretty good. Got up amd showered and cleaned up room. Then was told it was time to do leak test. The stuff they make you drink for that is pretty nasty and gave me and the other girl diarrhea. Now drinking pedialyte for that. Then they took out drain which wasnt nearly as bad as i thought it would be. Was told it was horrible so i was ready for torture...not at all. I feel way better with it out. Now im back at the Marriott waiting for my room to be better. Sitting and sipping my poweraide and pedialyte. Will update more...

I am at the Marriott right now. I traveled alone and was sleeved on 10/18 wuth Dr Garcia. All has went well. Just arrived at hotel for the last part of my trip a couple hours ago. You will do fine. There were four of us that had surgery on the 18th, two sleeves and two bypasses. We are all doing well.

Ive always been able to lose like 30lbs in 2 months doing atkins. Id always gain it back after though

So I am getting my surgery Oct 18 with Dr Garcia and it was planned pretty fast after being denied by insurance so little time. I was going to try and get a passport card but couldn't find my birth certificate to get it. I was told the card is not really needed...just come with ID and birth cert. I just ordered one on a rush yesterday but it says 5 to 10 business days so likely wont make it in time. I read other places online people saying they got through with just id and ss card. Anyone done this?

Thank you all. I feel better now. I do walk a lot now so with what I see here, I should be fine. And the question of why mexico.. Ive been fighting insurance for 10 months and ready to move to the next step. After my research I feel comfortable going there, maybe more than in the usa

Im getting sleeved in mexico next week and have a small issue. My husband will be at work when my plane lands. Im planning on getting an uber to pick me up but my 2 yr old daughter will be at daycare, which is about half mile from my house. Do you think at that point ill be ok to walk her home? I know Im not supposed to drive yet. Im mostly healthy, 37 and 280lbs

That stinks. You are all probably right. I make my shakes with frozen banana chunks, makes them more like a real shake, cold and creamy

I have a ninja that works great for shakes, pureed foods and food processing. Im still preop (for a few more days) but think it will work well post op

I remember feeling like that last December when I started this. It was an extremely long road with a lot of time and work put into getting approval from insurance. In the end I was denied...five times. I am going to mexico next week. I am soooo ready for this to become a reality.

Just started today. Going to Dr Garcia next week. I did it in May for 5 days before finding out I was denied by insurance and it wasnt that bad. My local doctors diet was much more strict than garcias in that it was clear liquid only and one small salad with no dressing a day.
