Need to lose 10-12lbs before 5/23/16...any advise?
Brenda Sherwood replied to Tee's Journey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you drink Isopure (clear Protein drinks) instead of shakes you should lose faster also. No carbs and less calories. Thats all my surgeon allows preop and 1st week post. I did Clear liquids for 6 days and lost 8lbs before finding out insurnace denied me Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
Baby after WLS?
Brenda Sherwood replied to tiff062712's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
As others have said, it is possible. I just wanted to add that if you know you want to get pregnant, the lap band may be best as you can unfill it when you do get pregnant so you can get more calories in for the baby, then after pregnancy fill up again Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
Im hoping to be a nevada sleever. Had a tentive date set for may 5 but insurance denied me so going through appeals Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Isopure ready-made protein drinks
Brenda Sherwood replied to Jennifree's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
These are requured through my surgeon. Thats our preop diet, no shakes and first week after surgery. Ive tried most flavors. Some are downright nasty. I love the coconut and black tea flavors. You can buy singles at GNC and Vitamin shop. I just got a case of the tea kind for $42. Expensive but its all in consuming right now....cheaper than food Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
Yes, normally over 40 you don't. Im 46 and was 48 when I started this and they are saying I need one. We will see, Dr office fighting for me Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Denied due to no disabling condition
Brenda Sherwood replied to Brenda Sherwood's topic in Insurance & Financing
My Surgeons office thinks I will eventually get approved because I meet the requirements, just thinks they are trying to draw it out in hopes that we will give up. Im calling again in the morning to get the latest. Not giving up...still on my liquid diet in hopes they approve. Ill be ready to go. Worst case scenario, I detox my body and shed some pounds. Its not as hard as I thought it would be Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
Dealing with toddler post opp
Brenda Sherwood posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery should be in about 3 weeks (will have exact date in a couple days) and if course Im worried about alot but what Im most worried about is my just turned 2 year old. How did those of you with really little ones handle the time immediately post op? Im worried about her crawling on me and stuff and how Im sleep deprived now and I know you are real tired post op. My husband is not supportive of my decision to get this surgery and isnt very helpful with my daughter unless Im at work so Im scared... feel like I should ask for extended hospital stay Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -

I'm sorry to hear that Brenda. Why was it denied? Alot of the times it takes a few submissions before it's approved. Sent from my SM-N920T using the BariatricPal App Its through medicaid. According to my doctor's office they have been denying everyone for some reason or another even though it's supposed to be covered. They used to require a three-year pre-op diet so no one ever did it I'm in the first batch of people to do it now that they've changed the requirements Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -

Its Amerigroup, which is through medicaid. They used to require a 3 year pre op diet so no one ever did it. They just changed the requirements a few months ago so Im in the first batch of people going through and trying for approval. Apparently according to my doctor they are denying everyone for some reason or another. Trying to appeal but not going well Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -

Well hopefully at some point I'll be able to see how it goes. My surgery was denied by insurance and Dr says my insurance co has been trying to drag them all out and doesn't expect it to be quick approval if at all Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -

How long did you take off work? Non desk job
Brenda Sherwood posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just curious how long you took off work if you had a somewhat physical job? Im a poker dealer which requires tons of stretching and my stomache is up against the table all the time, bumping. My dr says only 2 weeks, Im thinking 3 or atleast I was until reading around this site, now Im thinking 2 months lol. Plus I have a 2 yr old to work with Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -

You guys are terrifying me! Im still preop, wear a 44DDD or F. I dont want boobs that I have to fling over my shoulder! Mine were beauties, just finished breastfeeding for 2 years which took em down a notch. Afraid of what surgery will do Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
Pre-Op Diet OMG! I'm Dying!
Brenda Sherwood replied to UpandAtom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im jealous of you guys...you get shakes. Im only allowed Isopure [clear Protein ] broth and Jello. I had a hard time the first day, second day was a breeze, third day I found out insurance denied me so I had some yogurt and scrambled eggs. But, Im going to stay pretty close to this diet for awhile just because of the health benefits. Im down 27lbs since January, 6 of which were the last 3 days. Im pretty bummed about the denial but we are fighting it and shooting for July. And yes I agree on giving up the high carb shakes. They wont help curb your appetite and will damper tge results of liver shrinking. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
Clear protein?
Brenda Sherwood replied to sbdooly73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How did you like the Atkins Lift drinks? They are pretty good (only had berry flavor). I am drinking some but still mostly doing isopure. The atkins drinks seem cheaper but when you break it down to price per gram of protein its same as isopure and isopure packs in more protein and less calories per ounce Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
Clear protein?
Brenda Sherwood replied to sbdooly73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a new product available that I actually bought at Walmart and my nutricianist approved. Atkins Lift. The only other option is isopure, which I'm required to drink before and after. Isopure is about $5 a bottle but have 40 grams of Protein. The atkins have 20 grams and are $9 for 4. Some Isopures are nasty. I found I like Coconut and Black tea with lemon best. You can get them at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe -

I have the policy and meet all their requirements. This is something new the are pulling out. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
Well, its not that easy apparently. Just was told I was denied due to not having a disabling condition that requires surgery. We will be appealing though Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

I have a tentative surgery date of May 5 (still waiting for insurance approval )and started my liquid diet yesterday. It seems like my Dr is more strict than most because I am only allowed Clear liquids (Water, broth, Isopure...thats IT). I asked about regular Protein shakes and was told no. Seems like all mentions Ive seen on here of preop diets was shakes. Im dying and still have 7 days to go. Was fine until a few hours ago Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

What was your preop diet?
Brenda Sherwood replied to Brenda Sherwood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, I think I decided I'm going with something in between what my dr says and what yiu guys are doing. Even the nutricianist has made comments how my dr is super conservative. Ive been on a 1200 calorie low carb high Protein diet for 2 months now and dropped 25lbs so Im sure my liver has already shrunk some. Ill go back to his craziness the last 2 days Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
I'm hoping to say the same very very soon as my dr already started me on the preop liquid diet. Congrats! Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Pre-Op and Post-Op liquid diet
Brenda Sherwood replied to GresidaM's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ive been doing six star that you get at walmart. 20 bucks for a big tub. If its all you are consuming, its easy to afford. Much cheaper than regular food. Ive been replacing lunch with a shake for about 3 months now so I can get used to drinking them and help lose before surgery Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App
