Ladies, what do you consider your ideal dress size ?
Brenda Sherwood replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
12 would be great. Im preop and a 20 or 22 now. Single digits too skinny Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
My isurance (a form of medicaid) denied me as they are saying they require comorbidity even with high BMI. My Dr is fighting for me and has a peer to peer scheduled. Wondering how many people have had a successful outcome from peer to peer? Did it or didnt it work for you? Considering hiring a bariatric attorney Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

They have family history listed and my mother had every problem possible and died at 62 so we are going to try and use that. I told them i have bad knees that most likely will need replacing in the next few years, my aunt died in her 40s and was close to 600lbs, a couple other things. We will see... I was on a 6 month diet, insurance changed requirement to 3 mo right at my 3rd appointment so they had me jump though all the other hoops super fast (ekgs, psych, blood, stress, preggo, etc) and I was 5 days into my liquid diet when I found out they said no. Super bummed. Did everything they said to a T and lost 28lbs in the process. Insurance came back saying I needed proof that I had conditions making me disabled due to my obeisity even though BMI of 46 Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Are Your Family Members Overweight and Which of Them Supported You?
Brenda Sherwood replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
@@Valentina I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. Its crazy and Im sure did not make your first days very easy, as if they aren't hard enough to begin with. Im glad to see that Im not alone in that I'm not getting support from those who supposedly love me. My husband and I already have loads and i mean LOADS of problems and I think this will be the final straw if things dont change. Already figuring Ill be single in a few months. Im ok with that though. Bound and determined to be healthy for my 2 yr old. I wanted kids since I was a teen and was unable to get pregnant until 34 (because of husband)so I cherish her so much and want to be there for her as long as I can. I just got denied and am prepared to go to Mexico in July if we cant overturn the insurance decision. 4300 is what I saw by reputable doctors and from what Ive seen everyone here saying, it is not bad there. You can get a loan or pay with credit card...you'll save that much on groceries in no time Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Are Your Family Members Overweight and Which of Them Supported You?
Brenda Sherwood replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I come from a very obese family...everyone. my mom had bypass but has since passed away (at 62), I had an aunt that could have made it on my 600lb life that passed away in mid 40s, sister had bypass and is now bulimic and underweight, all my cousins and other aunts are big. Ive always been concious of what I eat and never been one to just eat donuts and butter etc...always carefull but still 300lbs. My husband is obese as well, worse than I. All I have here is husband and my 2yr old girl. He does not support my sleeve surgery decision and continues to eat bad. Says we all have an expiration date thats meant to be. I eat perfect for a week then wake up to my favorite Breakfast...his homefries. He doesnt get it. Its so frustrating. Right now battling with insurance to overturn a denial. Told him if it doesnt work Im going to Mexico. He is NOT happy about that. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -

Denied due to no disabling condition
Brenda Sherwood replied to Brenda Sherwood's topic in Insurance & Financing
Thanks. My surgeon has a peer to peer set up in 2 weeks. Basically they want comorabities even with high BMI but they lost family history and I have lots of issues in family issues. Going to keep fighting Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
I'm so frustrated. I have done so much to get approved for this surgery and was just told I was denied due to not having a disabling condition that requires this surgery. I meet all their conditions stated in the handbook that says bmi over 40 doesn't require another condition. My bmi is 46, wven after losing 25lbs on my dr supervised diet. We are sending in an appeal. Anyone else go through this? Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Congratulations! That has been my personal goal my entire adult life. I was 220 at 19 and gradually heavier and heavier every year [37 now and 275). Every time I dieted the goal was to see that 1. Hopefully I will this winter Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
Denied due to no disabling condition
Brenda Sherwood replied to Brenda Sherwood's topic in Insurance & Financing
WHAT INSURANCE DID YOU HAVE WHAT INSURANCE DID YOU HAVEWHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DOI have Amerigroup. My Drs have been fighting with them trying to get me approved. I cant get surgery done until late July mow because of work so I have some time. If it doesnt get approved by then, I plan on self pay in Mexico Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
So I started this journey in december when I went to my surgeons seminar. Finished up all the pre op tests and 3 mo diet last month and dropped 25lbs. I worked hard to get that weight off. Had hoped to get my surgery the first week of May and had everything set up, including family in town to help and time off from work. Well, insurance denied me when I was in day 5 of my liquid preop diet. We have sent in appeals but its not going anywhere. I'm soooo bummed out. Continued on with my diet for a few days but now I'm at the point where I said Eff it and ate a ton of crap today and yesterday. Now I feel even crappier for eating junk when Ive worked so hard for months. At this point I dont think I'm getting approved and its really destroying me. I was so mentally prepared for all of this and looking forward to my new life. Sorry, just needed to vent. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

Losing hope -just venting
Brenda Sherwood replied to Brenda Sherwood's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can lose on my own...about 30lbs, then 40 comes back...year later lose 30, gain 40, repeat. Been doing that about 20 years. I'm getting back on track now. Gained back 6lbs just in 3 days not eating good and its not like I went crazy. I cant get surgery until mid July now regardless because work is crazy from May 26 til July 15 so have time to fight with insurance. If we cant get through, Im on my way to Mexico! Thank you for your responses. I have a NUT appointment at my Drs Wednesday and am hoping to get some answers then. I wont give up, just a bit bummed at the moment. Off track with diet because if that and that my inlaws are with us and eat horrible. They will be back in NY soon so that will help. Feel like I need a reset mentally Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -

I was denied due to "no proof of disabling condition" which seems like they are asking for a comorabity even though its not supposed to be required with my bmi (46). I am considering Mexico as a backup. Just emailed OCC actually. Called insurance and Dr office today and still have no answers as to whats going on Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
Colorado Medicaid questions
Brenda Sherwood replied to jenniferwhite673's topic in Insurance & Financing
I live in NV so it could be different but all of my Dr visits have been covered and my testing preop (blood, ekgs, stress test, psych...) the only thing Ive paid for is the nutricianist once a month. Medicaid paid for all that then denied my surgery working on appeals now Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App -
Call your insurance company. They will tell you who you can use. Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App

I was denied also for the same reason only they called it "no disabling condintions" even though I have a BMI of 46. I was already in my preop diet, took off from work, had family in town to help...everything. insurance conpanies are so frustrating. I hope yours goes well, still waiting to hear back on my appeal Sent from my SM-G900P using the BariatricPal App
