NY2LAGirl: right now I am jogging on the rebounder. I use my arms over my head to keep my heart rate up, or else I will either jog real fast for a short time or lift my knees real high. I will eventually add hand weights when I can no longer get my heart rate up where it needs to be. For any of you looking for a great form of exercise, you should try the rebounder. If you "google" it you will see that it is an excellent form of exercise because it stimulates every cell in your body..... If you purchase a rebounder, GET A GOOD ONE!!!! You get what you pay for!! The best one out there is made by Needak.....

Felicia: That is awesome!! We have to take every victory that we can get since the scale sometimes gets "stuck"!! I have been exercising on a rebounder (mini trampoline) consistently since my surgery and I have lost 6 inches in my waist. I can now wear some shirts that used to not cover my belly!!! Keep up the good work everyone

Hello everyone!! I went for my second fill on Monday and I am now feeling some restriction!! I only lost 3lbs in 1 month and I was somewhat dissapointed, but I guess 3 down is better than 3 up, right? I continue to do well with the food choices and exercise, so I just have to be patient and hopefully I will start seeing results soon. I have to say, some of my old habits are not easy to break!! I never realized how much I was snacking before my band!!! I am trying to be creative and think of other things to do instead of reaching for food!!! All the best to you all!!!

I went for my 2nd fill yesterday. I definitely feel some restriction now!! When I went for my appt. yesterday, I told the doctor that I was a little disappointed because I only lost 3 lbs in a month. He explained to me that my band was too loose. He patiently explained how he needs to keep adjusting/filling until we reach a spot where I feel good restriction and get that "full" feeling. So, I have a 5cc band and it was filled to 2.25 yesterday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I see much more weight loss this month!!!

I went for my 2nd fill yesterday. I am definitely feeling restriction now!! I only lost 3 lbs last month, so I am hoping for much better results since my fill yesterday!! CT Cutie; yes we are close!!!...Only about 2 miles away from each other!!

Hi Sleepygirl. I am only starting the journey, but I can't imagine that all of my bell will shrink back to where it was. I carry most of my weight in my belly, so I am thinking that plastic surgery will be be a definite for me after I have reached my goal!!!! Right now I'm taking one step at a time and learning to replace old bad habits with new healthy habits!! All the best to you!!!

Hello April avengers: I was banded on May 1st. I have lost 18lbs, but most of it was within the first 4 weeks. The last 2 weeks have shown almost NO weight loss. I have a 5cc band and was filled 1.5cc's on May 27th. I KNOW that I am eating WAY less than I did before and I am exercising 45 minutes per day..... Did any of you experience this in your first 6 weeks? Any suggestions? Am I being hard on myself???:confused2: Thanks in advance for you input!!!
-
TDR: I felt a little restriction, but really not a lot!! I'm hoping my next fill tomorrow will give me more restriction.......
-
Hi Ctcutie: glad to hear from you. this thread is moving very slowly! Anyway, I have been filled once and am going for my 2nd fill on Monday. I feel the same way as you. I feel that 85% of my success is due to my own willpower and determination and only 15% is due to the band. I'm hoping that my 2nd fill changes everything!! I feel like I can eat anything. the only thing that gets "stuck" is deli meat...don't understand it, but it's true!!! I plan to voice my frustration to my doc on Monday when I get my next fill. I mostly want to know if this is normal. I have been at a plateau for 3 weeks now!!!!! All the best to you!!! By the way, you live right up the road from me!! I am near Sacred Heart University in BPT!!!!!

When they do a 2nd fill, do they take out the liquid from the original fill? I thought that they just added to it.... It would make sense to take it all out to make sure that there is still the same amount as when they filled the first time. If there was less, it would indicate a leak perhaps?
-
My first fill was a breeze!! I had to lie down on the table and push my stomach against the doctors fingers. He told me to lift my head off the table too. This made it easier for him to find it. I was worried about the pain of the needle, but there was NO PAIN!!!! I didn't feel a thing!!! I am looking forward and not nervous at all about my second fill on Monday!!!!!
-
Well, maybe the bathroom episodes will make the scale move!! I have had 1 fill too and feel that all of my success has been due to my own discipline and good food choices. I go for another fill on Monday... I can't wait!!!!!

I am stuck at 20lbs. At my weight, I feel that I should lose a LOT more before I hit a plateau so soon. I have been exercising diligently, focusing on 50 - 60 grams of Protein per day and eating smaller portions. I don't sit at the dinner table because I find that dinner is my most challenging meal for self control. I am down 6 inches in my stomach which is a great thing, but I really would like to see the scale move. I go for my 2nd fill on Monday and I feel that I really need it. 90% of my smaller portion sizes has been due to my own discipline and NOT restriction. I'll keep you posted and let you know how it goes.....
-
THanks everyone!! I needed to hear that!! I am so grateful for the support on this thread. My friends who haven't been banded just can't relate to what I am saying!! Monday will actually be my 2nd fill. It should be interesting to see how my body responds to that!!! My biggest hurdle still is taking small bites. I am so used to taking these big gigantic bites!!! Hopefully the next fill will solve that problem!! I'll keep you posted!!!

Great tips!! I was banded on May 1st. I do find that certain times of the day are rough. between 3 - 5pm I definitely need to find activities that are not compatible with eating!! I am getting on my rebounder (mini trampoline) for 45 minutes per day and have added some more exercises for strength. I am going for a fill on Monday and think that it is definitely needed. Even though I am eating much less, I feel that I could use some more restriction:crying:. Right now the scale is moving veeerrrryyyyy slowly!!!!! It is frustrating to me because I feel that 60% of any weight loss right now is due to sheer discipline and NOT putting bad foods in my mouth!! On a positive note, I am losing inches!! My waist is down 6 inches :biggrin2::biggrin2:

katw, don't be sad. There will ALWAYS be those people who thrive on negativity:mad:. They will always see the glass as half empty:angry_smile:. The truth is that there is always something positive in every situation:lol:. These people are so programmed to only see the negative that they can't see any other view. They attract it into their life!! Everyone should watch The Secret. It explains about how we attract things into our life. If anybody is interested in knowing about how to change their negative attitude, they should go to: www.what-is-the-secret.com For now, I recommend that those of you who don't want to be pulled down by these "anchors" stay away from this thread. I know that I will!!!! All the best to all of you!!

So nice to hear from you StephC!! Sounds like you are back up to full speed!! How was your recovery? How long were you out of work?? I'd love to hear details!!!

I am now weighing myself once per week. When I was doing it once a day I was getting frustrated. -
Weigh in... how much have u lost?
bandfan1 replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on May 1st. I am holding at 20lbs and feel like I am READY for another fill!! Luckily my next fill is on Monday!! This really is an exercise in changing old habits and replacing them with healthy habits. ALL FOOD goes down!!!! This includes everything that I am not supposed to eat. I am doing a good job of making good food choices (for the most part), but I feel that I could definitely use more restriction. How are all you other May 1st bandsters doing???? -
Welcome Kimaly!! I was banded on May 1st. I am feeling GREAT!! Get ready for a fun ride!!!!!!! All the best to you!!!
-
Your banding date was pretty recent. Right now, don't try to make yourself crazy. My instructions were to focus on protein, eat every 2-3 hours and take my multivitamin and calcium twice per day. The vitamins and calcium will cover whatever you are not getting right now. Once you work up to eating everything, then you can start to fine-tune and balance everything out..... Good luck!!!

I think you're right, I need to stay off the scale. However, I did step on today and showed a 2lb drop. So I will not weigh myself again until next Saturday. From what you are all saying, my experience is normal. Thanks for your advice!!!

I have heard good things about the Fairfield/Norwalk group (i.e. Dr. Floch). However, if you are one like me whose insurance they don't accept, I highly recommend Dr. Kurt Roberts in New Haven. All of the great things that are said about Dr's Floch hold true for this group too. Their staff is exceptional and you will NEVER get an answering machine when you call them. They answer every phone call and do not rush you through it. Also they are also a "Center of Excellence" group. Their office is right off the highway and easy to get to. My experience at Yale New Haven Hospital was also exceptional!! My entire experience with this group has been phenomenal!!!!

Hi Kim: I read your journal. What a journey you have had!! I give you a lot of credit. You are an inspiration. I have been banded since May 1st. I lost 18lbs the first 4 weeks, but am at a standstill right now. I know that the journey will not be easy and I have to look at the big picture. There are many pluses for me to think about. I know that the scale will move again. I have to get over my old habit of looking for instant gratification!! Keep up the good work!!!

Congratulations on your weight loss!! I have lost 18lbs, but most of it was within the first 4 weeks. For 2 weeks now the scale has NOT MOVED!!!!! I am sure that my body is just re-adjusting, but I am getting discouraged. I think I will check out the April bandsters and see if they had the same issue. Congratulations!!!
