About Me
I am in my mid-50s and had lapband surgery almost 20 years ago. I've had ups and down but it was the right decision for me at the time. My pre-surgery weight was 315 lbs. I got down to about 195 over five years. I weigh 245 now.
My experience with the band is that I had slippage a few years after I got it and had surgery to repair it. I also had an incident when I was camping and couldn't keep anything down (not even water) and got dehydrated and had to be hospitalized. They removed the saline and I was too nervous to get a fill again.
I moved from TN to FL for a job about three years ago. I've gained a lot of weight back after moving for a new job and COVID. I'm having problems with the band. I have GERD, that lump in my throat feeling, and pain in the area above the port occasionally. I would like to get revision surgery to remove the band and get a gastric bypass. I wasn't ready to get one 20 years ago. I had two young kids and didn't feel like I could take the chance that something could go wrong. I'm ready now. I want a healthy life.
