I have a surgery date! April 4, 2008
ColoradoChick commented on ColoradoChick's blog entry in Blog 30768
I am sooo excited! I set the date this morning for April 4! Wow!!! Happy Happy Joy Joy!! -
I am not sure what the program fee covers! I just called the surgeons office to double check because I am sure that they told me at one point but I took in so much information that day I cannot remember. The lady was out of the office so I will call her tomorrow for the specifics. Where is Colorado are you from? I am from the Springs but am currently trapped in Virginia for my husbands job. I cant wait to go home!!

UHC is hoping that you will just give up and then they get off the hook for paying. They are in the business to make money not promote good health so the more they deny the more they can report on the bottom line. imho Hang in there and just appeal them into submission!!

Wow! You are doing great! I hope I can do as well as you have done! I weigh about 260 now and need to get down to 130 since I am only 5'2". Good luck with your continued loss!

Hi All, I just found out that I have been approved by my insurance company for the lap band surgery. They are going to pay for everything except a $50.00 co-pay! I still have to have the barium swallow, EKG and some bloodwork before I can schedule a surgery date. I am looking forward to being thinner! My only obstacle now is the 2550.00 I have to pay to the surgeon for the after surgery program fee which includes the fills. I have about 100 pounds to lose whuich seems OVERWHELMING!!! I am currently living in Northern Virginia but my home is Colorado.

That is why we are not moving back - no job for my husband in Colorado right now! I miss the mountains and the low humidity. It is so beautiful and really nothing compares. Where are you in VA? -
My doctor charges a $2550 program fee. My insurance covers the surgery except for a $50.00 co-pay. I would already have the procedure scheduled except I dont have the cash for the program fee. I called all of the doctors I could findinthe Northern Virginia area and they all charge fees around $3000 for their program. I dont understand it at all - why dont they charge insurance for after visits? I pay hundreds per month for health insurance! It is frustrating.

You are so lucky to get to move back! I will probably be here for a few more years! I am from Colorado Springs and currently live in Leesburg VA. -

I know they were so nice. It took nearly two weeks to get the answer but they called and said "I am about the make your day" and then she said I was approved! I have Empire BC/BS through my husbands employer. They Rock so far! I just hate the big cash expense to the surgeon for the program fee. They need it ten days before the schedules surgery date. I just have to come up with is somehow - that is the only down side. -
:thumbup:My insurance company called today to let me know that I have been approved for lap band surgery! Yipee!! My insurance company is going to pay for the entire procedure except for a $50.00 co pay.I have to get a barium swallow, EKG and some blood work to do before scheduling. The biggest obstacle now is coming up wit $2550.00 for the doctors enrollment fee! I may have to put the surgery off for a few months so I can have time to save for this fee. That is a bummer!
