  1. I bit the bullet and told mine.....right before he went into surgery (minor)......after his happy shot. All he said was, "I still love you". That was yesterday. This morning we were laying in bed and I asked him if he remembered what I said and he said no. So I told him again and he said I did not begin to look like I weighed 251 lbs and it did not matter, he married me for my money anyway. (BIG joke) He then said he married me because of who I was and not what I was, he just wanted me around and enjoying our lives. (Sniff sniff) Yea, I'm keeping him!!!

FAR from superwoman, I adore my grandchildren (3 boys), I have a husband who treats me like a queen, and a job I do love. As in everyones life, sometimes things pile up. I am going to have to grab my son and make him make my pictures smaller so I can paste the logo. That may take years!! As far as not eating b/4 the test, I will be sick by 3:00 p.m.!!! Thanks anyway.

Fenton, Whimsy's pre-op test took 4 hours. (when I tried to include her quote, something did not work right) I have my test Monday and wanted to know if they really took 3 hours. As far as being busy, between a full time + job, helping to raise 3 grandchildren, a husband with MS and Lupus, and a supervisor who BELIEVES in delegating jobs, yea, I'm Busy. (This surgery might end up being the vacation I need) (Smiles)
  4. MyBand, welcome to the group and congratulations!!

Mine took about 4 hours BUT only because they wanted to confirm that I was not pregnant before I did the barium and upper gi. The EKG and chest X-ray were pretty fast. I think it just depends on where you go and how on the ball they are. If they are busy or slackers, it may take longer. My poor hubby had to wait on me, too. Where you told not to eat anything after midnight the night b4 your pre-op test??
  6. Duke and Moonshade, good luck and your right, this site is awsome. Hopeinapril, you were told not to eat after midnight before your test?? My test are scheduled for 3:00 p.m.!! Need I say that sucks and I need to get some clarification which is hard to do on a Friday evening. I hate to think I am going to have to function all day Monday w/o anything to eat!

Whimsy I saved the shamrock logo to my pictures, went to the edit signature section, browsed and found the shamrock picture where I had saved it. When I attempted to download the notice I received said, "Your file of 31.3 KB bytes exceeds the forum's limit of 19.5 KB for this filetype". What do I do now because I am lost!!!

Hopeinapril and Whimsy, will the pre-op test take 3 hours to complete?? I am scheduled for the test on Monday and was not aware it would take that long. DH is going with and he is going to love sitting in the waiting area! Mom, I am glad you made it through the day. When I read your post I thought I won't be able to return to work after 2 days! I plan on taking 6-7 days off and hope I have an easy time. Fenton, I have enjoyed reading your daily post on how you are progressing and your words of encouragement to co-banders. (Some of that stuff has been really good) Just to let you know, when I had a cat he would have read the sign saying no cats in the sleeping chamber and entered anyway! I am going to attempt the shrinking shamrock logo 1 more time, keep fingers crossed!
  9. The time is going really quick, my surgery date is next Thursday and I am starting to get skitty!! I go for pre-op test Monday and I heard that not great.

I think that's pretty cool and reassuring. Most doctors will not interrupt their day much less vacation to check on a person much less someone who has not had surgery. Sounds like you are in good hands.

Scrappy, you don't have to tell your friends how scared you are. Either we are or we were, trust the decision you made. I do not have surgery until the 20th but I know I will be lifted up in prayer as you will be when you have your surgery. Voice your fears but come back and share because as we need those who have already been through surgery, others will need us to post our experiences also. I think I missed my calling, I should have been a preacher:thumbup::smile:

OK, I'm like nycm00 and can't get the shrinking shamrock ticker to come out right, I'm frustrated. I think I'm going to have to have a "ticker installation" class. Welcome to all newbies to join the March group, I have been making notes and planning my grocery list before my surgery on the 20th. Elsie, I have a friend who lives in Belgium, in fact, she is my x-husband's girlfriend. (Don't ask unless you want the whole morbid story) She's funny and nice. Glad to hear all those who have been newly banded are doing so well, sorta takes the anxiety off of everything. Thanks!
  13. Yes and I am scheduled for surgery on 3/20. I go to a pre-op appointment on 3/17 @ Gateway. Dr. Steely has been really nice so far, hope it stays that way!! Course, have not heard anything bad about him!! Have you been approved yet?? PA

Amanda, glad you are OK and everything is over.....but that was too funny! It's a wonder you did not wake up in the disturbed ward after freaking out on your doctor! I think that is why we ask so many questions about this, I am OK as long as everything goes as I expect it to. If something happens that I am not prepared for, I might freak out and wake up in the disturbed ward!!! :smile2: PA

Fenton, I have been watching the post to see how your surgery went but I missed your posting of your surgery so I had to go back and catch up. Congrats and thanks for all the info. My day is coming on the 20th so I am curious about what is going to happen and how I hope to feel. I plan on returning to work in one week so I am hoping I will feel like doing it. How long will you be in the clear liquid diet?? PA
  16. When I had my gallbladder surgery last year I wrote my weight on a piece of paper and gave it to the anesthesiologist. DH did not bat an eye!! While we were at a weight loss support meeting last week I asked him if he wanted us to sit in one of the large chairs. He said, "we both can't fit in it", (he is tall and skinny), then he realized what he had said, looked at me, turned red and apoligized all night. I laughed because it was true and he tries so hard not to mention it.

Harley, LOL, so we are going to re-name you as Bio-woman?? When you get the energy so you can leap tall buildings in a single bound....whoops, thats superman!!! No matter, if it takes a body adjustment, so be it!!
  18. Kat, you are right, if I phrased it that way he would curl up in the corner and I would have to have him medicated!!! PA

Pipes, I understand your nerves, mine are about shot!!! I keep thinking I should be able to do this on my own and I already mourn the food I will no longer be able to eat. But if I intend to be around to irritate my grand-children and great-grand-children, they way I want to, I need to do this. I am focusing on the future and the benefits this surgery will bring. Keep your chin up and we will get through this!! PA
  20. Angelyco, sounds like you have a special person in your life. I have one also who supports me sometimes better than I support myself. It's just one of those things I have always kept to myself. My husband would not swoon and run for the attorney's office. In fact, if I bluntly told him he would not know what to do!! He gets that way when women talk about birth, periods, and female stuff. PA

Hello all, I am scheduled for 3/20, but my doctor has not told me to do a pre-diet except for clear liquids with the bowel cleanse 24 hours b4 surgery. I have not even thought of getting any of the items mentioned in the previous post so I am glad I came here. I wish luck to all that are in this process, I know I have had second thoughts but keep returning to this is what I need to do. PA
  22. No way!! When my husband and I married he weighed 170 and I weighed 230. Now his weight is 185 and mine is 250. My goal is to weight the same as he. My husband is 6'2'' and I am 5'6'', just does not seem fair. Let me drop some of this weight and I might tell him. PA

Talk about moving quickly!! I am smiling right now because I am so happy for you! I thought tonight, this time next month I will be banded and onto a new life. Please let me know about pre-op test, I go on the 17th. PA
  24. HopeinApril, for the past 2 yrs. I have been carrying my husband on my insurance until he qualified for disability insurance. In January, when his insurance came through, instead of having the full amount returned to my check I upgraded my insurance. It only cost me around $30. per month but I believe it will be worth it in the long run. I can cancel it next January. Rarely do I have "smart moves" but that was one of them. PA

Good info, I have not told them at work I am having the surgery and do not plan on telling them. Instead, I feel the flu coming on...cough...cough. I have my pre-op test scheduled for 3/17 and surgery for 3/20. I figure after being off a week I will be ready to go back!!
