    Kentucky, "who's your Doctor"

Hello Kentuckians, I am home, tired and a little sore. I got home about 2:00 p.m. and have drank a 20 oz bottle of water and about 8 oz of protein chicken broth since then. Since they gave me 2 bags of IV solution this morning I am not worried alot about my water intake today but tomorrow will be a different thing. The nutritionist came to my room and gave a few suggestions for protein intake. She said to purchase the unflavored protein powder and mix it in fruit flavored yogart, bullion, and anything that does not have much protein already in it. Will try that tomorrow. Going to try to go to bed and see how that works.:cheers2:

    March 20th

Done and home. Banded on the 20th also, came home with shoulder and back pain but I have been trying to walk it out. I did not have to do the 2 wk prior to surgery liquid diet and don't really want this broth I am sipping on now. I am hoping to return to work on Wed., but we will see. Good luck to all!!!
  3. Ginny and Rose, I am home after having surgery on the 20th. Hope you 2 are doing well. I have been sipping water since I got home and had a little protein chicken broth for dinner. I am having shoulder pain but have been trying to walk, at a slow pace, on the tredmill for 10 minutes every two hours. Might need to up that. Good luck and let me hear from you!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Got home this afternoon with my band (Yea) and when I turned on the computer and read this, I caught a visual of Frances leaping across the table and taking her sister-n-law down while the other family members cheer her on. Needless to say I laughed until I hurt. I have to say I am very blunt and would quickly tell her it's none of her business and she is just jealous. Of course the next family get together might be tense!!

Let me know if you ever figure it out!!!:biggrin2:
  10. Called this morning and found out my surgery is scheduled for 7:30 tomorrow morning but I am to be @ the hospital between 6-6:30. DH and I will leave our house by 5:15 to get there by 6:15. I have been packing a small bag with a book, throat spray, listerine strips, toothbrush, house-shoes, and other things I probably won't use. Those of you that have been banded, at the hospital do they give you an "I don't give a damn" shot before surgery?? Fenton, although it does not matter, you seem to be the only male posting and I enjoy reading about your daily journey, thoughts on things, and general good humor. Therefore, don't stop posting! Rose, we are there in spirit together!! I believe we will arrive home (me on the 21st) with a whole new outlook on life.

Stellabella, I was also told to drink the magnesium citrate the day b4 surgery. I am to drink 1/2 @ 6:00 a.m. and the other 1/2 sometime later in the day. I forgot when but I plan on calling the doctor tomorrow to find out. My DH said the mag. citrate will start to affect you within 30-45 minutes but not to be too far from a restroom especially right after you drink it. Hope this helps, I plan on spending my day at home tomorrow cleaning, washing, and ----ing!!

Scrappy, glad you are home and feeling better! Harley, and Pippin, wow, you got in there, got it done, and got out!!! Wed. banders, good luck tomorrow, you will do wonderful as everyone else has. Mrodr, they told me to set the breathing thing beside my chair as I am watching TV and try to use it at least once per commercial. I was also instructed to bring it with me to the hospital on the 20th because I will be expected to use it after surgery. So far I can get it to register 3000-3500 but I think the nurse wanted it to register between 3500-4000.
  15. Stephanie, I am there with you on the 20th in Clarksville, TN. I understand your rollercoster and I am trying real hard to stay busy. I will call tomorrow to find out what time surgery is scheduled for. It's finally here and I am ready!! PA

Raymer, good luck on Wed., I will be there with you Thurs. Did the pre-op test today but they did not do a barrium test. I met with the resp. ther. to learn how to breath after surgery, had blood test (9 vials ) and a chest x-ray. Then they sent me home telling me to return Thurs. morning @ 6:00.

Here's a prayer that the Monday banders have had an easy day. Good wishes and special thought for Tuesday Banders. I did my pre-op today which consisted of 2 1/2 hours for 3 test sessions. 1st session was "learning how to breath for after surgery" with the resp. ther. 2nd session was blood work, 9 vials, thank the Lord they did not have to fill the vials. 3rd session was a chest and side x-rays. They did not have me do the barrium stuff (no, I'm not upset!) I am on a clear liquid diet on Wed., nothing after midnight, and have to be @ hospital by 6:00 a.m. although they still could not tell me what time surgery was. I have lost 16 lbs since December. Folks, I'm getting nervous!! But happy!!

Special K and HarleyGirl, good luck on Monday and Tuesday, I am behind you on Thursday. I did grocery shopping today but did not feel I bought any food for myself after banding except SF Jello and SF popsicles. What foods do you have ready at home?
  21. I have told a close friend, my daughter and of course my DH. Surgery is scheduled for 3/20 and I have taken of W-Th-F. I realize there is a possibility I won't be ready to return M or T, therefore, I will call in sick. My co-workers are very opinionated and I do not want to deal with their questions. Hopefully I will return to work on Wed.
  22. I read on the internet nothing for 8 hours so that is the direction I am going in. I get up around 5:30 a.m. and can at least get something in to get me motivated. I will have one of those headaches by test time!

This is a test to see of my shamrock is attached, if this works..., thanks Whimsy and Hopeinapril..any anyone else who attempted to help up who are computer challanged.
  24. Yep, I did some searching on the internet last night and the conclusion is 8 hrs. b4 test. My test is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., so I am going to try to grab some protein at 6:00 a.m. when I get up. No water all day is going to be rough, I might call and see if I can sip a little water, what do you think??

    Kentucky, "who's your Doctor"

BandChick64, thanks for the well wishes, I found out last night that I was not to eat or drink anything before the pre-op test. Great, my appointment is at 3:00 p.m. So I started looking around the internet and it says nothing to eat 8 hours before the test. I hope that means I can get some protein in when I get up at 6:00 a.m. at least. I'm going to call the hospital Monday morning and see if I can sip water throughout the day. For a person who does drink 64+ ounces of water a day that is going to be rough. Anyway, I will get through Monday and get ready for my band-date, Thursday!!! PA
