No, I only attended one meeting the week of 03/10/08 (I think) I know I should attend more but after working all day long, home is where I want to be. And Gateway is a 45 minute drive frome Hopkinsville. -

E - I am glad your home....again....and banded.....still....hopefully things will start moving in the right direction for you. Fenton - I am not a cat person so your ar probably right, they want your face! I used to have a Siamiese and I'm sure that was his goal, he belonged to my daughter so he moved when she did. Only plus side of seeing her go! JDUB - What's a Body Bug?? That does not sound...clean?? Going to have to Google that one! I have not started mushies yet but am due to on Friday. I have been told that I look like I have lost weight and have been working out like crazy, I expect for things to slow down/stop when I start on mushies. H8 - Glad a doctor you trusted stepped in and did the surgery and glad your here!

Surgery went great. I had lost 12 lbs before my appointment so he told me I would not have to lose any weight prior to surgery but would have to have 24 hrs of clear liquids before surgery... and drink a 3 oz bottle of Fleet at 6:00 a.m. and 3 oz at 12 noon. Suggestion, buy those baby wipes for your bottom because it WILL get raw. I had to complete some pre-op things, learning how to use the breathing device after surgery, blood work, and chest x-ray. The day of surgery I had to be at Gateway at 6:00 a.m., got an IV, spoke with nurses, doctors, and was in surgery by 7:30 a.m. Then next I knew I was in recovery. I was a little sore but was taken down for another x-ray then back to my room to rest. Walked many times that afternoon and following morning. (Morphine pump, use it when you need it and walk, walk, walk) I came home and laid around for 6 days before I went back to work. Will have a follow-up visit on Friday. FYI, if you don't attend the nutrition class and at least one support group, they won't schedule. Be sure you sign in to get credit. Let me know how your sleep test went. P.S., as of today, I have lost 15 lbs. PA -
Beastys, we have 4. A chihauhau, 2 akita/chow mixes, and then there is our pound puppy, AKA, Charlie. Charlie was suppose to be 2 yrs. old when we got him but he chews like a puppy. On his first day home he chewed through the pool pump electrical cord, a few days later he chewed a hole in my carpet, then he chewed the edge off of my coffee table, the corners off a wooded chess set, the corners off 2 couch pillows, a hole in the blanket on our bed and a hole in our new sheet set. Last Sunday, (hold your heart Fenton) he chewed up the television remote and yesterday he chewed up the remote to the TiVo. I have bought more toys (for aggressive chewers) for this dog than I have bought for my grandchildren!!! But I love him and won't send him back, I hope he will learn or he will chew us out of house and home!!! If any of you ever meet me and I am missing a arm or leg, Charlie chewed it off!!!

Husband Eating Everything!!!!
Busy replied to Ashlii1432's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not that I don't want my DH eating food in front of me just don't make it a point to eat treats in front of me (or I'm afraid I WILL act like the family dog!) Don't order pizza until I am strong enought to turn up my nose, and I will reach that point. Don't take me to DQ knowing there is nothing on the menu I can order, don't put me in an eating environment where no Soups or mushies are available because right now I am building my willpower. I still cook a full meal for my family but at home I go and walk on the treadmill and maby lay in the tanning bed while they are eating. Last night my DH went to Sonic and bought ice cream but stopped by the grocery store and bought me a tub of fat free Cool Whip (low in fat, sugar, calories, carbs, and consistancy of pudding). I put a few tablespoons into a small cup and it was my treat! It also comes in choc!! :puke: -
Evelas, sorry you are having a rough time. But think of it this way, when your stomach fat dissolves, you will already have the restriction we all hope we will have!! I know, does not help, your in my thoughts!!

Husband Eating Everything!!!!
Busy replied to Ashlii1432's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yea, you have the right to be annoyed but as previously stated your going to have to come to terms with it. Sunday before going to the grocery store my DH announced he was hungry and wanted to stop at DQ. I told him there was nothing there I thought I could eat and he said I could get a cup of ice cream. I just gave him that "you've lost your mind" look. When we arrived I ordered a rasberry slush and took about 10 small bites with a spoon and threw the rest away.....he paid for it and I could tell it registered. While at home I keep treats for myself that I pull out when the family splurges and I get tempted. Carnation instant blended with crushed ice and a scoop of pb is a treat!...or maybe just a SF popsicle, something for me. Hold your ground and you will find each time it is easier to say, naw, I don't want anything!!! -
Carol, I read somewhere about using a soft pillow to support that area or a body pillow if you have one. Hope this helps.

Good luck to the 31st banders, let us hear from you!

I have only told my DH, daughter, and one close friend. My co-workers are very opionated and would support me to my face but talk about my lack of control behind my back. I don't need that! My parents are no long alive which leaves my sister and brother. My sister, older by 2 years, downgraded a member of her church for having GS. I love my sister but she is one of those that sits on the front pew; therefore, her shi- don't stink!!! My brother (8 yrs younger) would support me if I chose to rob a bank (he'd be behind the steering wheel of the car yelling "come on sis") but if I tell him and not my sister she will make his life he--. My husband, daughter, and friend love me fat, skinny, or whatever so I know I have their support, no matter what, and then I have you guys who support me sight unseen. (sniffle sniffle). JDUB, not fair, I was banded on the 20th but do not get to move to mushies much less food until 04/04. I am either blending my fruit yogart so there is no chunks or spitting out the fruit. Would kill for lasagna!!!! I also have a question for all, how many calories do we need to eat to continue weight loss? I have added unflavored Protein to alot of things and drink the protein shots, so I am getting my Proteins but very few calories. I know this is needed. I have not lost an ounce in several days and I am getting discouraged. Input please!!!

I feel alot better today, (no work) and Christine maybe you are right and my shoulder/neck pain might be tension, so far so good today. Took the grandsons to the movie today to see "Horton Hears a Who" and was surrounded by hundreds of three thru nine year olds all with popcorn and drinks. I did good, drank my protein water and watched the movie. Afterwards we went to McDonald's for Happy Meals, I came home and had a FF pudding cup. Tonight for dinner DH, DS, and I went to a Chinese rest. and I had a cup of Hot and Spicy (strained) soup. I'm not hungry but would love to taste.....

Hi all, I have been trying to focus on work so I have had to catch up on the boards. I am going to complain and get it off my chest...my shoulder pain is so bad it is causing headaches. I have walked so much in the past 2 days I should offically be in China! If this does not stop soon the next step is DRUGS!!! DH took me to Applebee's for dinner tonight, I had the tomato soup w/ a scoop of unflavored protein powder. It was about 6 oz and I ate the majority of it. I don't understand, I don't feel full but I don't feel hungry. I eat because I know I have to get in that protein. (Don't want to lose the hair) I am 7 days post op and my incisions feel OK except for the port area. That sucker is sore, a little red and slightly warm. I am keeping an eye on it. Thats it, I feel better and I am going to turn in for the evening. Hope everyone is feeling well!!

Kathy, Glad your home. Never had to sleep in the recliner. I was so happy to see my bed I slept for 9 hours. Welcome to the band!!

Special K - I was put on dissolving Prisolex, just put it on my tongue but not on coumadin. They did give me 2 shots in my stomach, (Thurs-Fri) that I think was for blood something.

Glad your home and on your way. I returned to work today and found my desk under a mound of folders. Needless to say I spent the day in front of the computer trying to get caught up. I walked outside during my lunch (pretty outside) then returned to the computer. About 2:00 p.m. the shoulder pains returned with a vengence. At 4:00 p.m. I finished my day, came home and took some pain medication to relieve the shoulder pain. I plan on hitting the treadmill in a few minutes then I will hit my homework (will have my BA b4 I die) and crawl into bed. I did reach out to shut the car door this afternoon and my port area screamed at me, thought I was going to cry!! It was rather a good day.

Congrats Karen, get some rest and welcome!
