Busy

I work at a hospital where they send people for alcohol and drug rehab. The majority of the "guest" are court ordered to attend for a minimum of 21 days so they are not happy with their situation anyway. While walking to my office I had to pass a fenced in area where these "guest" smoke. One said, "look at that pig". Pissed me off so I looked at him square in the eye and said, "I may be a pig but look who is in the cage". The guy he was standing beside started to laugh and the guy who said it to me was so shocked he could not respond. I felt wonderful all day long. I may be fat but fat does not pad my feelings.

Sherri, I understand the 6 month wait. But it goes by quicker then you think. I have my 4th appointment on Friday, 2 months to go. Gee, I just started this 6 month journey. My goal was to be smaller by summer, now the goal is smaller by Thanksgiving. Good things to those who wait. PJ

When I get to have surgery I am not telling them at work anything except that I am on vacation for a week. My husband, my daughter, (who has a family and home of her own) and a very close friend are the only people, except my lap band friends, who know I am wanting surgery. If nobody knows I have had weight loss surgery then there are no questions. My husband will take care of the household while I am recooperating...I hope!! How about yourself?

Yes, I know he did her surgery but I wonder if he would fill someone that had been banded in MX. Isnt there a post somewhere with a link to doctors across the US who would fill for patients that had surgery in MX?

Greta Anything you can suggest will be greatly appreciated. Although I am not banded yet, I will be if insurance pays or not. Share any tricks of the trade because I have save pre-diets, post-diets, indicatiors of problems, solutions for gas, making a list and checking it twice!! Hope your brother-in-law made it throught the storms unharmed. We are expecting rought weather again tonight and tomorrow. Keeping our fingers crossed and prayers going up. Glad your band experiance has been so good, 31 lbs is a wonderful accomplishment. It WILL be me someday soon!! PJ

Research is always the best route. I did several months on different sites before I decided to consult with a doctor. Now I am sure this is the only way, for me, that I am going to be able to chase my two grandsons, ages 5 and 2, they way I want to chase them. I refuse to sit in a chair and tell them to go play!! We also had rough storms on Sunday night. Tornados hit our area and took out about 100 homes but by the grace of God, no one was killed. Several broken bones but nothing that won't heal. PJ

I wish I would exercise 5 or 6 days a week, if you can stick to that regiment then sticking to the band requirements will be easy for you!! I also am not banded yet, doing the 6 month required diet. My doctor attempted to put me on Meridia but my insurance does not cover diet medication so I said, "OK, I will pay for the perscription" Then they told me it was $124.00 per month! Needless to say, I am not currently taking diet medication! I am also impressed by the 17 to 27 lb loss, I would feel so much better with 17 lbs off. I work on the second floor and am bound and determined I will not take the elevator. Everyday I have to stop mid way up to catch my breath. I am seeing a doctor in Clarksville, TN, Dr. Steely, he seemed nice when I met him and I have not heard anything disheartning about him. I currently weight 252 and am 5' 7". I am seeing my PC every month for 6 months and the office visits are $50.00 a visit. Two more months to go, I had planned on being a banister befor my 47th BD in May but it does not look like it is going to happen. Thats OK, I will have the surgery and be recovered before the holidays. (Find your rainbows where you can) PJ

I am a surveyor for licensed child care centers. Another of those terrible state people, but I believe in what I do.

What about traveling in a vehicle daily? I average about 600 driven miles a week. I hope to have surgery within the next couple of months and plan on taking off a week after surgery. Not going to tell anyone at work about the surgery but that also means I am going to have to hop back into the job as soon as I return to work. What do you guys think?? PJ

Dana, hopefully the insurance co will take the notes your doctor office sends to them and not count the lost month. I have to have the 6 months of monitored weight loss, started in Dec. and based on replys to your post, I will not miss a month. Will keep the fingers crossed for you. PJ

Good luck to you. I am still trying to make the insurance company happy. They have required 6 months of supervised diet, my pcp said it was only to see if I would jump through the hoops. I will jump for a while, then I might go to Mexico!! Let me know what you find out, you will be in my prayers. PJ
