    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hello to all, hard to believe it has been 4 years. I am down 80 some days and 90 on others, not complaining, still consider myself far far better off! So far, no complications with my band although I still catch myself on rare occasions not chewing thoroughly and being stuck. Good to hear from all!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hello all, I have wondered how everyone was doing. I also received my band March 2008, some days I'm good and eat as I am suppose to and some days I'm bad and eat around the band. I feel I have 15 more lbs to go but my doctor says another 65. I don't want to be skinny, just healthy which my last labs showed I am good there. I have come to the conclusion every day will be a struggle and some days my focus is meeting that struggle head on, other days I focus on other struggles. Energy level is not what I hoped it would be, guess thats an age thing! All and all, I feel I am better than I was. I am better at keeping up with the grandchildren which was one of my reasons for the band. I will continue to struggle! PJ Forgot how to change the weight progress scale below!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

I have been returning every once in a while to read the ups and downs of everyone. You have all been in my prayers. I am down to 215. Wish it was more but I am better than I was 1 1/2 years ago. My problem is I have gotten off the exercise habit and have a tendency to nibble at night. I keep saying I am going back to it but it has not happened yet. My positives are I am in regular clothes, I can climb the stairs at work and I can wear heels again without killing my knees. My job status has recently changed so I hope that will give me the incentive to get out and walk more. Good luck to all. PA

Special K, rent the dune buggy and tour the island. We felt like the Scooby Doo crew in a bright yellow dune buggy but it was so much fun. Seats 4 and someone needs to know how to drive a stick. Have fun, Hawaii was awsome, wished I would have stayed 2 weeks.

    Kentucky, "who's your Doctor"

JayTee, stay on your scheduled diet and stop worrying. I don't know what meds you are on but I do know some meds cause thinning of the blood or other issues. The doctor is ensuring your health. As for your fatty liver, that is why the doctor places you on a diet prior to surgery, does not take much for the liver to shrink, stay on course and look forward. Surgery was a breeze, just remember to get out of that bed and walk, walk, walk. Even before the nurse comes in and reminds you to. Good luck!!

Cindymom, I understand. I did so well in the beginning, then vacation, holidays, and the ice/winds. My favorite place is again my recliner! I have regained 10 lbs and cannot seem to start the loss again. I am scheduled for a fill on the 16th so, believe it or not, I am looking forward to it.

    Newly banded 1-2009

New in KY, have you researched any of the Unjury powder products? I have only found them online but they are high in protein and low in everything else. The unflavored powder can be added to instant breakfast mix, broths, and other items on your liquid stage. I still add it to soups, sauces or whatever to increase protein. The soups are not bad so I keep a scoop in a baggie in my desk when I get weak. Use your imagination with the stuff. PA (also in KY)
  8. Zeama Glad it all went well and looks like your doing good. I have slowed down on weight loss so I guess I need to start working with this tool instead of letting it do all the work. The holidays really hit me hard and I gained 10 lbs. Now can't get back into the routine. I have had 2 fills so far but went to Dr. Steeley's office this month and confessed my sins and refused a fill because I have not been doing my part. I go back in March for a fill, hopefully I will at least have lost what I have put on. Keep up the good work!

What is sad is I find myself agreeing to have dinner with someone and I am not even hungry. It is a habit I need to break. Meals for today: Breakfast was a scoop of PB and a cup of Fiber One yogart. Lunch was a 42 gram protein drink Dinner was a cup of homemade veg/beef w/ 4 wheat crackers.

All, thanks for the understanding words and support. My major stress will go away the 1st week of December and then we will see if I can find other stress to replace it:smile:, isn't that the way it usually goes. Things will calm down and I WILL get my head on straight. Time to get positive and motivated. 1 yr band anniversary is March and I plan on being closer to 200 than I currently am. Maybe not lucky enought to be in onderland, but I can see the borders of wonderland and will get there one day. Keep up the good work all and keep positive! PA

Chica, thanks for the reply. I usually try to drink a protein shake for lunch while at work. My problem is while eating everything within reach, I have not excercised in awhile and have fallen back into my old routine of coming home to tired to go out and walk. Now since the weather has changed, it is dark when I get home, dark when I leave for work, and I am too lazy to get onto the treadmill.

Christine, my excuse for not posting is there are struggles going on and I have gone nowhere in the past few months, my own fault. I have discovered what an emotional eater I am and how easy it has been to fall back into old ways. I am currently in my last month (hopfully) of college and have 2 out of 3 classes that are kicking my butt. 1 is a math class, (I am too old for math) and 1 class requires a 60 page research paper. I am stressed.....so I eat an Oreo cookie or 2..several times a day. Then work gets crazy and I eat pasta. My husband's health issues flair up and I sit in the waiting room snacking on items from the fast food restraunts in the hospital. Currently I am at 223 and holding, but not losing. I keep saying I am going to get back onto the band wagon after graduation/Thanksgiving/Christmas, and that is my plan. Right now I am just trying not to wake up in the morning and start grazing. I will get a rein on this but I hope I do before I do damage to my band, she has been very forgiving with me so far but I know that won't last forever.

Christine, how did you know you had gastritis? What signs triggered you to go to the doctor? I have had some concerns with soreness in my port area after 6 months. I do not want to over-react but I waited too long for my band. I also have been put on antiflamitory drugs by another doctor for a pulled ligament in my ankle due to walking. Not a medical person....but aren't these NSAIDs (spelling sucks)? I don't need to take these do I?

That was so funny! I am planning on having a wonderful time. We are taking 3 grandsons with us so what I don't lose before might be lost there. I understand about the pressure of "eating to get your money's worth". DH is tall and lean; therefore, he enjoys Ryans, Godfathers, and all those others. They make money on me so there is no sense in me going! Thanks for the words, we will have fun. Fenton, tell about Paris...please!

Congrats on all the weight loss to everyone and Annie, I think you are cute as can be. Don't mind those with shallow minds but I don't think I would have enjoyed being felt up by a strange woman or man! Hit a bump in the road, pulled a ligament on the top of my left foot so now I can't walk for exercise. I am wearing a "boot" that makes everyone think I broke my foot. Try to act graceful in that! I am 10 lbs. short of my goal for vacation 10/12, so I am a little upset. Those cute shorts I bought for vacation still seem a little tight!! Going to wear them anyway....Disney may never be the same and Micky may have to cover his eyes!

Fenton, I too am very glad you're home, I also look forward to reading about your dau in NY, you have a way of telling the story that makes us seem like we were there... I know, the writer in you. As far as family, I was the only heavy one in my family and in my group of friends. Sorta lost down to a half way normal weight weight when I was 18 but marriage and children took care of that. Right now I am tickled that I am out of women's clothes and feel better about myself.
  17. Does anyone who has been banded for a few months have pain in their abdomine? I think it mostly occures when my stomach is empty. It is more of a soreness than a pain. I am concerned, I have only had 1 fill and I refuse to entertain the idea of erosion.
  18. I did start taking the Prilosec last night and I do have an appointment for a fill this coming Friday so I will discuss these issues with him. So far today I have been fine so you might have hit the nail on the head.
  19. Lovesgrapes, thanks for the response. I was on Prilosec but went off of them because I did not think I needed them anymore. I was thinking the possibility of an ulcer and did not know what impact that would have on my band. Guess I will add the Prilosec back to my pill box (I had gotten down to harmones and vitamines).

I plan to receive my 2nd fill a week from this Friday. I hope after that my weight loss will kick back in. Right now I fight for every 1/2 lb then gain and lose it several times before I lose it for good.

Desdemona It's funny how seemingly little things to others are so important to us. Most people would not think alot about walking around all day at the flea market. I would have been back at the car after 1 hour a few months ago. A few months ago I would go to work and take the elevator to my floor. Now I run up the stairs (still arrive out of breath) and beat the elevator. I think these are called NSV's and I love it. Labor day weekend we went to a family reunion and 1 of my SIL's asked me why I did not eat any homemade ice cream. I told her I was watching it and she said, Why, your not fat! My husband reached over and squeezed my shoulders because he knew I was getting ready to tear up....someone sees me as not fat. Of course later that evening my 4 yr old grandson poked his finger in my tummy and said Grandma, your tummy is big.....that was OK:laugh:

MsCathyl, prayers for your BIL, I hope he gets better soon. Don't sweat the friend, she sounds jealous and is looking for a reason to seperate the bond you two have. The only ones that can do that is you and you BIL. As for everyone else, great weight loss! I have been slacking and need to step it back up. Where is Fenton?? Don't tell me he got skinny and kicked us to the curb!! Is he out doing research?? Hope so, I am waiting for the next book! Keep up the good work and I will try to get back on track!

WOW, I have been away from the boards toooo long!! You folks are rockin with your weight loss! I have come to the conclusion I am a slow but steady looser. I am down to 217 and would be more if I was consistant with my exercise. I am just lazy, I come home from work and hit my recliner....I know, that is no excuse. As far as my new outfits for Florida, that trip is still a month away so I still have hope. I am scheduled for my 2nd fill on the 19th so maybe I will get motivated again. The good thing is I am no longer wearing "woman's sizes". I have graduated down to the Misses sizes and I am thrilled with that. Keep up the good work, you folks inspire me to get off me a$$ and exercise!
