Congratulations LadySays on your 5K finish...I'm sure you felt that runner's high at the end. I'm looking at your progression and wanted to know if you were running when you was over 200?

Hello Couch to 5K buddies....congratulations on all your accomplishments. I turned 47 this Saturday and completed the 10 mile run series in Westport, CT. My time was 2hours and 42 minutes. Out of 141 runners, I finished 140. It was such a high crossing that finish line. I want to set a goal to do a half marathon, but I think I need to concentrate on losing another 30 pounds first. It's a great feeling crossing out milestones, Good Luck and many blessings to everyone working on that hidden or written list.

Well, I'm back from my vacation in sunny Barbados. I did happen to jog every other day at 5:30am and walk the same distance the alternate days. My birthday is on 9/5/09 and that the same day as the last run of the Wesport, CT running program...10 miles. I would be lying if I said I'm totally confident, I'm a little nervous, but I'm going to give it a go.

Catherine55...I wanted to get clarity on your statement below... Once my body stopped building so much muscle (b/c I was more fit), I started losing again. I did the math last night and will share it with you here:

Hello all, I completed the 3.8 on Saturday in my Westport Running Series...time was 50:47. This weekend is 4.1, I'm so excited when I finish a run and can;'t wait until the next one. I'm still a little bummed out about not losing any weight, I go to my monthly therapy sessions and people there are just walking and they're consistently losing 1-2 pounds a week, meanwhile I'm running 5K's and I've lost 2 pounds in 2 months...I don't get it.

Congratulations on your band-iversary Lyn.... I did 3.8 on the treadmill last night...my run is tomorrow morning at 8am...it was too muggy to jog outside. Not sore today, but I always feel it the first mile out, then it's smooth sailing after that. This weekend is 3.8, and then I will be getting prepared for 4.1 on 7/25. I joined EHarmony last night...my weight has always held me back from dating since I was in my 20's. I went on my first date in Barbados last year, of course I would meet the man of my dreams 3000 miles away and he also has a girlfriend....I'm ready to look for someone closer:) Good luck on the runs everyone.

Dropping weight, where from? Do I need to work out more?

I've found that working out with my personal trainer since March 2009 has reshaped my body. I'm 235 and I'm in a 16W. We do Biggest loser workouts and then I hit the sauna. I work out with him twice a week and in between workouts I started jogging. 7/4 was my first 5K completed and did another one on 7/11. You definetely can't spot reduce, but cardio will reduce fat. -
Thanks everyone for welcoming me...you guys are such an inspiration. Kathybad - 7K OMG, I'm hoping to get there soon...congratulations. Krtork - I might have been nervous on the first 5K, I'm thinking that's why my time was better on the second one, I'm still happy with that time. I've been working with my trainer twice a week, and following the WW plan for points...incorporating for the last month now at least jogging 3x's a week, however my weight/inches has not changed in 4 weeks....shouldn't the scale be moving?

Thanks Malissa, I completed my second 5K on 40:22, took 8 minutes off my time (can't believe it). My next run is 3.8 miles on 7/18/09. Good luck on your upcoming run.

Hello All, This is my first time posting on the C5K board. I've been working out with a personal trainer since March 21, 2009 and he is such an inspiration. I started jogging on the treadmill in April and was only able to do 1 minute at a time. I followed the training program on the cool running website. Early June I told my trainer I wanted to do a series of runs in CT and the first one was a 5K on 7/4/09, I thought training on the treadmill would be enough (NOT), he instructed me to jog outside and do it at least 3 times a week. Well I completed my first 5K on the 4th, my time was 48:52, I am still on cloud nine. My trainer came out to support and ran the last mile with me backwards (LOL....showoff). It was awesome. I have another 5K this weekend on 7/11/09. This series of runs are in Westport, CT and the last one is on my birthday 9/5 with 10 miles, I hope to be able to do some of that. Thanks for all of your posts, they inspired me to take the challenge on.

Working one/one with the therapist has helped. I was attending the once a month group sessions, but I needed a little more focus on my issues. We've had 3 sessions, but they have been ground breaking ones.

Thank you so much for your reply and your encouraging comments, it is an every day task for me to love myself first, but it is a task that I'm working on turning into a joy. You have done great on your journey, I would love to have 80+ gone...congratulations.

Hi, I was banded Jan 2008. I've lost 42 pounds so far to date. My highest weight was 310 and I've lost weight 3 years prior and reached a weight of 238, but regained it all and went back to 284. Since having the surgery I reached the weight of 238 again August of 2008, but this time I recognized my self sabotaging behavior. I went to see the weight loss therapist affliated with my doctor, and met with the nutritionist last week. The therapist has helped me realize that I've made myself believe that I'm not worthy of love and I'm hiding behind my weight. In the last 2 weeks I've taken off 10 of the pounds that I gained and I have 6 more to go to reach that scary weight of 238 again. The band is a tool, but getting rid of the head trauma is an everyday struggle. Being at 238 and going from a size 30/32 to a 16/18 changed the way men look at me. I'm 46 and I haven't been a size 16 since I was in my 20's and that's the last time I had a relationship. Reducing my weight did give me more confidence that attracted attention, but not knowing how to deal with it caused me to put on 16 pounds. Has anyone else experienced this?
