  1. the weirdest place for me was at the movie theatre. Me and my current boyfriend was on one of our first dates. I had just eaten and we were rushing to go to a movie. At the time I had not told him about the band. We were in line and I could fill it coming, but I was trying to make it on the inside to the restroom away from him. But something happened and I could barely make it to the trash can by the door. He was shocked and not sure what was happening so I could tell he freaked out a little. But he never said anything else abt it. I did not want to ever see him again, but fortunately a year later we are still together. After that I had to explain the whole band thing to him.
  2. Its been cool. I have not had any band issues. My issues I had and will periodically have is not eating slow enough. It took me a few weeks in the beginning to get it down. Now the only time i have issues is if I am eating on the run or trying to eat while driving. You tend to forget because you get so busy, and then I make my self sick. So I always try to stop and take time whenever I get ready to eat. Since having the band I noticy that I do not get that hungry, but when I do I have been on empty so long that I am hungry to a point of getting sick. So I try to eat something every few hrs so I do not get like that.

  3. I have lost 65lbs so far. I am just now getting back committed to the gym. I know people who have lost a lot more. But I am good as long as I am losing. I watch what I eat. I still eat some bad food, but at least with the bad it is not that much of it. I noticed I have to change up my eating habits to make sure I am losing. One week I may go low carbs and later to back to low calories. So whatever I am feeling that week. I treat the band as a tool and not the end all to my weight loss. So it is still work to loss even with the band.

  4. I have been researching these topics and issues for the past 10 years because of my own personal issues and have discovered that it is as simple as this. We have to burn more calories than we consume. Overall to make sure we are getting all nutrition we need, we should consume between 1000-1200 calories a day and that is with nutritious food and not just empty calories. If you are fairly active, then that amount needs to be increased slightly. The more active we are the more efficient our body becomes and begin to burn the food we are eating. If we are starving ourselves, we begin to store food and it takes a lot of activity to make our bodies burn those calories. I noticed that if I drop the amount of food I eat and dont workout either I will be at a stand still or I will gain a couple of pds. But, if I eat 3 meals and workout I will lose a lot in a week. so it really depends on what we are burning.
  5. No, I have not lost any hair. I make sure I am getting enough protein. As longs as I eat right, I am pretty good. I am glad I had the surgury, I probably could have lost a lot more like some people, but I like it being gradual. Majority of the people that know me, do not know I had the surgery, so they are assuming I have done it on my own. I like the gradual appearance. It has been a year. I had surgery at Dr. Carter in arlington carterlapband.com. I know about five people that he has performed the surgery on (2 co-workers, my best friend and two of her aunts) we all went on recommendations of each other. He has really good best side manner. and I go to the monthly support meetings . Let me know if you have any questions

    Oprah Speaks for Millions

For those that complain about Oprah, they seem to know alot about her. If I did not care for someone and their opinions, I would not choose to watch her show and complain about it. Once upon a time, I was against all weight loss surgeries. I had to educate myself and learn alot more to make the decisions to have the surgery. Everyday people make revelations about their lives and the choices we make. Oprah is no different, why is everyone sitting on this high horse about the lady. For those that can not stand her, I do not see why you would spend so much time on this topic. Regardless of her motives behind some of the things she does is between her and a higher power. I am just glad that someone is able to benefit from her generosity.

Four Mistakes I Made This Year

I did not follow the low-carb diet my doctor recommended. I have control of how much I eat, but I want to work and make sure I am eating the correct things. Through the natural process of the band, many things I have been forced to give up. Some things I still can eat a small amount of. I am determined to get back on my workout program.

    Frustrated

I know how you feel. I was banded Jan 31, 2008. I was not able to get my first fill for 3mnths. I lost 10lbs the first month and then gained 5lbs back prior to getting a fill. I started getting fills in May. After the 3rd fill i have really began to lose weight. It was frustrating because my best friend got lap band in May and she has lost 34 lbs w/o a fill. Everyone is different. It just takes longer for some. But I know it is currently working for me. In the past 2mths I have lost 16lbs. Which looks and feels natural.

    Hello

corvetterol, I got my band feb of this year. it is also one of the best decisions for myself also. I have not lost a lot and that is because of me. I finally realized this is a tool. It still requires work on your part to make the right food choicfes. I think you will really appreciate it at the end of the day.
