Help Almost3 Years Post Op And 60Lbs To Go!!
LynnM replied to ~*~*~Panda~*~*~'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congrats on at least making the appointment for your fill. I lost a total of over 140 lbs. Havent been for a fill in 3 yrs. Ive gained 40 back. Im trying to get up the nerve to go back to the dr. But it's a big deal because I had my surgery with True Results and they are no longer in Atlanta. I'm trying to get motivated again start eating like im suppose to. I gained my weight from depression and sweets. They slide right down the band. I have also started walking. I just hope my band hasn't slipped. I feel hungry all the time. I hope your fill is a success and your weight starts melting off again. (: Lynn Philippians 4:13 <>< -
Thank you so much. It's a slow process. I really need encouragement. I just need to get back to the dr soon. Get a fill, make sure my band has not slipped. Lynn Philippians 4:13 <><

Protein , protein and protein. I had a friend that had gastric bypass and because he didn't realize he needed lots of protein. He went from a head full of hair to almost bald. So like I said protein, eat and drink protein. There are whey protein low carb powder shakes at WalMart with 52 grams of protein. Drink 1 a day. That should help out. And of course take liquid or chewable multi Vitamins. (: Lynn Philippians 4:13 <><

Forgot my favorite part of spring. I love the beautiful flowers and the green grass. I love the fact that in spring we Celebrate Easter. The resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Lynn Philippians 4:13 <><

And to think your dr said it wasn't the port. Hmmmmm Glad it has been corrected. Did you have to pay? Lynn Philippians 4:13 <>< -
Ok so I had lap band surgery March 26 2008. I lost over 150 lbs total from highest. I've gone through a divorce after being married 20 yrs. my mom died in 2010 and last May my 17 yr old daughter moved 2 hours away to live with her dad and has nothing to do with me. After us being close since the day she was born. With all this going on I've gained back 46lbs. From eating sweets, being depressed and not exercising. I just recently started to have acid reflux and am scared my band has slipped. I'm praying it hasn't. True Results whom I went through for my surgery is no longer in Atlanta so now I need to go to the dr but trying to figure out where to go. Until I figure that out I'm back to eating like I was suppose to be. High Protein shakes, chewing slowly, no sweets and stop eating after 20 mins. And exercising. I just need some encouragement. Thanks Philippians 4:13 Lynn Philippians 4:13 <>< Lynn Philippians 4:13 <><

I have had my band for 4 yrs on March 26th. I initially lost 114 lbs. 278 on day of surgery. But 321 3 yrs earlier. I understand what your saying, however in my case I have been obese my whole life. I know for a fact without my band I would be way over the 321 mark. I have gained 30 lbs over the past year with the band. But I have gone through a divorce after 20 yrs of marriage, my mom died and let's just say my life has not been what I thought it would be. So what did I do, eat sweets and not exercise. But if I didn't have the band. I just don't even know how big I would be. I know it's easy for you to think you could have lost the 100lbs without the band and it only helping 10% but I would have to disagree. The band does stop you from feeling hungry and forces you to stop eating. Without it I would have ate so much more during my down times but the band stopped me even when I pushed the limits. As far as manipulating the band and eating I have done that and I now believe I have to get help from a counselor as to why I want food. Be positive. Think about it honestly. Do you really think you could have had the motivation to exercise and eat properly without the band and seeing the lbs come off day by day. My answer for me is no. I love my band and would do again no regrets. Now as for what could happen in the future with the band, I too worry. I was a cash pay patient but I know if something ever came up life threatening insurance would pay. Just my 2 cents. Good luck Lynn Philippians 4:13 <>< Lynn <o(((><

I had my surgery March 26th My starting weight on surgery day was 271 I had my 1st fill on April 22nd which I had lost 21 lbs. I have an AP-S band which holds 10 ml. The Dr had put 4 mls in on surgery day and when I had my 1st fill another 1.5 mls. For a total of 5.5 mls. I had my 2nd fill yesterday and she added 1.0 mls so now I have a total of 6.5 mls in a 10 ml band. I started feeling really hungry 8 days post op. Most of the 1st 21 lbs was lost in the 1st 14 days. When I had got my 1st fill I did not start feeling hungry again until about day 6. I am scheduled for another fill June 12. That is if I need it. I walk 4 miles every other day and ride my elliptical 20-30 Min's. I make sure I have 70 grams of Protein a day and 70- 80 ounces of Water a day. So far My total weight loss from a week before till now is 38 lbs. I am not sure why your Dr wont give you a fill but if you are hungry I can't imagine why not. It is a tool to help us but if the tool is not working then the Dr. needs to help you with a fill. Just my 2 cents. Good Luck. LynnM:redface::eek::thumbup:

Hello everyone. I had my surgery on March 26th and had my 1st fill April 22nd. I could tell immediately that I had restriction. I just hope it will last a while. I have lost 4lbs sense the fill 2 days ago. I had 3 ml in my band and they added 1.5 which brought it to 4.5 in a 10ml band.:biggrin2::biggrin2:

Lynn- I have had the same pain also today...I think the pain is coming from the port area...boy it doubled me over the 3 times it has happened...I drove the kids to school, then home to take pain meds and go back to bed!! __________________ Elsie, I called the Drs office and they said I probably moved the wrong way and the port pulled but that it was fine. boy it sure doesn't feel fine. Hope all is going well for you. Keep us informed. LynnM.:smile2:

Hello March bandsters, Hope all is well??? I had my band in on March 26th so far I have lost 8 lbs. I just wanted to ask if anyone is having sharp pains around the port area. I have them sometimes when I sit and really bad when I drive. I just started driving yesterday just a quick trip to the grocery store and this morning taking my kids to school. The pain was so bad it feels like a knife stabbing me. LynnM.:confused2:

Hi I Too want to get the Lap Band but I have Aetna and they have a written exclusion. So I am now thinking about self pay. About the law in GA. I was also excited to find out about this law, but quickly I learned that was meant to be good was turned around by the insurance companies The law states only that insurance companies have to offer it but companies can exclude it. So guess what most companies are excluding the coverage. Hope this helps.
