Hi all, I live in North Alabama now. Grew up in Birmingham Alabama and then moved to the mountains of Asheville North Carolina. Lived there about 15 years and then DH was transferred back to AL. I sure do miss the mountains. Someone said they lived in SC. I would love to live in Spartanburg. Perfect location like you said not too far from the mountains or the beach. Maybe we will get lucky and be transferred back up. Oh and Go Colts!!!

Hi guys, I am two weeks out (on Tuesday). I have a Dr's appt Monday and hope he will give me clearance to start exercising. We were told not to do anything other than very light not exercise type walking after surgery. I will join in as soon as I know what I can do. I'm hoping for at least 15 minutes so that is what I will put for now. hey! Congrats on your Feb 20th surgery date. mine is Feb 19th. Come check out the February support group and you can see how everyone that has had or will have surgery in Feb is doing.

Okay so I went for my last pre-op stuff today including a little class. So they brought up hair loss and said of course it is all different for everyone but there is something they recommended to help called Biotin. It is supposed to be available at Walmart. Might be worth checking into.

Hey Mamadi I'm really close to you. I live in Cherokee. I researched dr's for several months before choosing mine. I decided to go to Birmingham to Advanced Surgeons. Dr Touliatis. There are also some in the Decatur area but I was more familiar with Bham and felt I would be able to get there quicker if needed. Do you go to Bham, Huntsville or Nashville very often? I hope living a distance away doesn't turn out to be a problem. I personally am NOT planning on going to HK or ECM if I have a problem so I also focused more on Bham since I was comfortable with that drive. And as for your original question about hunger, I will let you know after I have my surgery 2-19. Feel free to email me.

That ricotta cheese thing sounds good. I'll have to try it when the time comes. You should post that in the recipe thread.

I know you said you hated fish. Have you tried Tilapia? It is one kind of fish and I am not into any other kinds of fish. I actually gag when my DH makes tuna salad. Blah! He talked me into trying this Tilapia kind and much to my suprise (and dismay as he is ALWAYS right LOL) I like it, Maybe you could give it a try before your surgery if you are not already on the fabulous full liquid thing. It comes in the freezer section and we just thaw and throw it on the George Foreman grill. Just a thought, I know what its like trying to get in all your Protein when you can't/don't want to eat certain kinds of meat. I was a vegetarian for years because any meat just grossed me out. And for the other things on your list (except the hair thing) I am laughing with you not at you as I have thought of all those things if not more. My surgery is next week and I am trying really hard to shove the what if's away. Cheers (clinking glasses of yummy protein shake) and hears to keeping our hair.

I don't know what's up with psych evals. I had to have one too and she pretty much asked me some stupid questions like Do you like yourself? and Why I thought I needed the band. It really is no big deal. Just be yourself and answer the questions honestly and you'll be fine:rolleyes2:

Hi all, I finally have my surgery date, Feb 19. I am 40, a wife and mother of two. I sell Avon and have recently gotten my real estate license. I am excited and terrified all at the same time. I'm ready to be done with this part of the process. I look forward to making some new friends on here that will be going through the same type thing I am. Good Luck everyone!

I don't know where Madison Square Mall is but I will try to find it. I live in Cherokee (city of) so it would be a drive but I would be willing to try to come once a month or so. Let me know if/when you get it organized.

Hey Have you called your insurance company this year? When you call just make sure you say " adjustable lap band" as there are other types of bands out there even if they are not widely used. Also make sure to ask what their requirements are as it differs between insurance co. Some have diet requirements others like mine didn't seem to be too strict and based it mostly on BMI and history of obesity. I have United Healthcare and they told me it would take a month or more to find out if I was approved or not and it took about a week. Have you been to an information seminar yet? They give you alot of good information about insurance. I went to my seminar back in Oct but couldn't get my intial consultation until Jan. Dr Touliatis will be doing my band also. I am just waiting to be put on the surgery schedule.

Hi all, I live in Cherokee so some of you are not too far away from me. I hope to have a surgery date soon. Everything is approved just waiting to be scheduled. I guess by now I should be used to the hurry up and wait thing but I think maybe I could calm down if I just had a date. Then again I will probably freak when I get the date. I guess I am just ready. I started this whole process last October. I had no idea it would take so long.

HI all, I just found this board last night. I was going to wait to post until I found out my surgery date but decided to go ahead and join in the group. My insurance approved my surgery on 1/28 but so far no surgery date scheduled. I'm have been tempted to call to see what's going on but have so far resisted. I have already started my pre-op diet per my nutritionist instructions so hope they are able to schedule my surgery in a timely manner. I get one small meal a day and two or more protein shakes. So far I have lost a little weight. YEAH!! I am excited to start my journey as I have a lot to lose. Anywho..nice to meet everyone and I hope to make some new bandster friends in the coming months.:biggrin2:
