i am was incredibly emotional (banded 2 dec). the day of surgery i started crying when the doc was talking to me and my family came in. they gave me something (i think they give it to a lot of people to calm them down) and my tears dried up and i was ready to roll....you will be okay, but if you need something before the surgery, don't be afraid to ask for a sedative or whatever it was they gave me!!

sherry-if you do end up going to another surgeon, make an appointment with him anyway (i know, it may take forever) or send him a personnel message to tell him how you have been treated. the doctor i went through was wonderful. his staff was and still is terrible!!!! never smile, never how are you today, nothing. i have an appointment with my doctor and i will bring it to his attention. hope it all works out!! good luck!!

hey cheri. i had my surgery on the 2nd of december. my shoulder pain went away after two days. the doc said move my arms around to get rid of the gas. your sounds like it may be something different. my tummy is not hot, but it is puffy,. my doc said that is normal, i do not think heat would be normal. i would call the doc immiediately. i did eat tomato Soup today (all i have had in the past is broth, pudding or water), and after i was done i has a little shoulder pain. i think i ate too much of it....but i was needing more than broth. i have lost 15 lbs since day of surgery, but i do not think i am eating enough...my body is going in to starvation mode!! let us know what the doc said.

okay, my belly was puffy to begin with, i know. : ) but it looks to me to be even bigger than before. is this unusual...could it just be swelling? i plan on calling my doc in the am

i had a sore throat for the first day, that was it. i have a little cough every once in a while with some flem, i do not know if that is my pudding coming up or just a bit of a cold starting.....i live in pennsylvania and it is very cold and we have snow on the ground!! i can only have full liquids for the next two weeks. that includes broth, Soups, puddings, juices, etc. the following two weeks i start the mushy stage, mashed potatoes, eggs, cottage cheese... what a way to spend the holidays...lol..honestly, i could not be happier

thanks carmen. i had my band surgery 5 days ago. as i am healing and drinking my yucky liquids : ), i wonder how i will be doing 6 months from now. i see folks who have had problems and have not lost much weight, and to be honest it scares me. your story has motivated me...i know i can do it as you have : ) thanks for your honestly!!

thanks all for your replys. i hope it does not take 4 weeks either...i was hoping that by the time i went back to work my pants would not be so tight : ). victoria-i am 5 days out and started experiencing hunger yesterday. not bad but i certainly felt like i could eat more than my broth and sugar free pudding!! i am losing every day so it has motivated me to ignore it...but when the losing stops it will be difficult to continue on just the liquids...but i know i can do it : ) thanks for your support everyone!!

how is the pain now ladyspenda? i had my surgery the same day as yours, i did A LOT of walkling and it was gone in by saturday )surgery on thursday). let us know how you are doing.

i had a bit of a cough the day before surgery..and mine went beautifully (banded 2 dec 05)...i do cough every once and a while, and sneeze...it hurts a bit...but nothing to worry about. i was so nervous the day before surgey, and mine went SOOOO well...i am sure yours will too!!

Was banded yesterday and feeling pretty good...i am very excited to have started this whole trip!! I am having one problem...I have not had a bowel movement since yesterday morning before my surgery...i am an everyday kind of gal...and wonder if this is unusual or not. Thanks for all the support!!

i had my lap band done on friday. the liquids went down no problem. yesterday i had only Water and beef broth. today i added sugar free pudding...all went down well. not much pain for me. i had pain in my shoulders from the gas for about 48 hours...that was it....the hardest part is getting in and out of bed. no recliner in my house, but if i had one i would be using it!! i was VERY nervous and now am so happy..you will be too : )

Joe- Congrats!! I was banded last Friday so I know you must be getting excited. Day 3 and I feel great...I sure you will too! Lots of liquids and exercise is your best bet!! Best of Luck!!

tizag- i almost did not read your post...i was afraid it would freak me out : )....i am so glad that i read it. i have beeen banded for exactly 69 hours...it is so good for me to hear stories like yours. i am so sad that this happened to you, but know that sharing has enlighted those who are just starting their journey. it is important that we know both the good and bad news stories...to think that banding is THE ANSWER to weight loss is being niave. i will pray for you, and your continued health...please do the same for us...

too funny delarla!!! i wish it were Water and beer! i wonder if i will ever be able to down a guiness like i used to!!! feeling even BETTER today. my family went home (dad, sister and niece)..and i am on my own. i am trying sugar free pudding for dinner tonight...it is going down pretty easy so far!! not so worried about the bathroom thing now...i am sure it will come when it is ready....thanks to all for your support !!!!

Thanks all. I feel really good...except for the potty thing. The only thing I have eaten in two days is Water and a few onces of beef broth....today I am allowed to start on full fluids..i will be in the stage for two weeks. I hope this will move things along!! I have stopped taking the pain medication they gave me, it was making me loopy!! Any suggestions on what over the counter pain stuff works best...I heard aleave was very good!! Thanks for your support.

thank you all for the wonderful thoughts and prayers. i am home and feeling pretty terrific. i got to the hospital yesterday at 615...was being prepped by 6:35, and on my way to the operating room by 730. i got a bit emotional when my family came in..they gave me something (don't know what it was) and it calmed my nerves right down...i will find out what it is cause it was wonderful. suddenly i was in the operating room and the doc was talking to me...next thing i remember is being in recovery. i was released at 4 that evening (could have been released before but my doc was in another surgery till then). i was up walking and sipping Water by noon. had some touble sleeping last night, but overall feel okay. i am drinking water only right now. i am afraid of anything else...if you have any suggestions of what goes down well the day after, would appreciate it. i have 4 very little incisions. my doctor was amazing. i will try to take a pic and post for you. more later!! : )

well, i was suppossed to get banded today and it was postponed due to an emergency that came in...so i am scheduled for tomorrow at 730am i am so nervous and scared. right now i feel like i could just call the doc and call the whole thing off. i know in my heart this is what i need to do....but it has taken so much out of me emotionally..... any words of wisdom for the nervousness the night before would be appreciated. i keep trying to think that tomorrow at this time it will be all over and i will be snug in my bed...it dosn't help wish me luck : )

thank you all for your kind words...i am getting ready to leave for the hospital now...i don't think i slept an hour all night long!!! i will check back in when i am able ...life..here i come!!!

my surgery was rescheduled for tomorrow........i am so stressed...i was kinda ready to have it today and there was an emergency surgery so i was bumped to tomorrow at 730....i need all the support i can get : ) thanks...i will let you know how i am doing tomorrow (if i can)

amen cheri (by the way, i am being banded on the 1st of december...i am so excited) whether i am a quick loser or a slow loser, it has to be better than what has happened over the last 10 years...up and down so many times i can't count. it is funny, when i talked to my doc a few months back i told him i wanted lots of restriction upfront...now that i have been out here listening and learning...i want a very small amount of restriction upfront, and slowly find my sweet spot. i DO NOT want to live my live with reflux or pain.... thanks all of you for your lessons...it is so helpful : )
