10 MONTHS DOWN AND ON A STANDSTILL HERE.I GOT 1/2 CC FILL A WEEK AGO THAT MADE NO DIFFERENCE IN MY RESTRICTION....SO I DECIDED TO MAINTAIN THE COURSE AND JUST TAKE MINIMAL AS BEFORE-EVEN THOUGH I SEEM TO BE GRUMBLY AND HUNGRY A LOT. I DIDN T GAIN IT OVERNIGHT AND KNEW I WOULDN T LOSE IT OVERNIGHT.BUT I CERTAINLY WOULD HAVE BEEN DISCOURAGED ENOUGH BY NOW TO QUIT-WITHOUT MY BAND.! I STILL FEEL IT IS A LIFE SAVER ! I VE BEEN LINGERING AT 181-180 FOR 2 MONTHS....YESTERDAY BROKE THAT PLATEAU WITH 178...YEAAAA. AND I REMEMBER FROM WEIGHT WATCHERS ~~YEARS AGO----IF YOU AREN T LOSING POUNDS~YOU ARE PROBABLY LOSING INCHES. KEEP ON KEEPIN ON...I VE never BEEN IN A SIZE 6 IN MY LIFE.......AND NEVER COULD BE-----EVEN IF i WAS SKIN AND BONES.i M SO PROUD FOR YOU..!

Anyone read this MSNBC article??
JoJoBanana replied to clayverde's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the article is garbage.the media today is not much more than a scandal sheet~sensationalism~bent on selling their station or paper.! Anyone researching the beriatric procedures is informed on the front end-that it is a tool and no miracle cure.if we do as instructed by our surgeons and support groups~i have faith that we will maintain the lifestyle and bodies we seek. I am 10 months out and cautious about portions...i will not ever "stuff"myself again.....so i do not fear stretching my stomach.i fear alcohol and chocolate candy and all the forbiddens. I want to be"normal"too bad! -
Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?
JoJoBanana replied to Froggi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Anyone who wants it should be allowed.i remember being 50#overweight and being disgusted with myself.i have bad knees and am older and just was out of control.i will never forget how happy and hopeful i was to be approved. It was a lifesaver. .....it is a tool for a better life.and we all need tools in every day life. -
I think we have the right to knowledge concerning our health and bodies.....i have 6.7cc in a 10cc band

I can barely eat 1/4 cup of food!
JoJoBanana replied to thughes113's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
believe it or not i envy you~~i had 1/2cc fill last week-my 4th in 10 months...i was on the wait list 6 weeks for that. And the doc that was filling in was a jerk.he talked down to me like i was a drug seeking teenager-and i m 60.! I was calling in a week later for help-no difference in the restriction from before the fill.i can eat almost anything~but don t~~i m hungry all the time~but limit myself to 1/2-3/4 cup soft stuff.i need a fill and want a different dr. I can t get in at this clinic again until mid october---and i will not see him again! i have only lost 1 1/2 #in 3 months and have reflux for the 1st time in 10 months. -
10 months out and eating what doesn t make me slime...i m losing but veryyyyy slowly.had a fill last week and it doesn t seem any more restrictive than before.i had a scoop of vanilla soft serve ice cream 3 days after the fill(with my 30 y/o daughter)and today she is harping on my eating habits! I am here looking for help~~and found it.! "band friendly" ~~wonderful term.i can go to taco bell and have 1/2 of nachos supreme and belly feels good...no choking. Can eat pureed chicken-a bite of ground beef-a super soft scrambled egg bite or any similar proteins and almost instantly slime/barf.! I was defensive and said"what do you want me to eat"-i m so tired of chicken broth-low fat yogurt-sugar free pudding...etc. I don t pig out-i don t eat cookies/candy-etc.but i am easier with mashed potatoes or potatoe soup-instant grits. Wrong foods.! I am reminded here that i had committment in the beginning-and need to renew that .! I will be back on here every day for strength and support.i have 53# off and 25 to go. I want to have this my life style. Not to ever-ever go back to "fat grama". Thank you all for your testimonies......

JoJoBanana replied to dogluvr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yep-I m 6 months out and am a walking gas bag! -
the givaway seems to be the "american citizen" crap with broken english ~~urging us to use Dr Ortiz and not Dr Huacuz....it just doesn t ring true. Slander is more like it.

You didn t do anything that I ll bet we ve all done. And if it didn t get stuck and make you hurt-you are ok. Quit feeling guilty.....lol we are human.

I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!
JoJoBanana replied to yazmarrero85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Maybe some people are just more sensitive than others~~due to personal experiences in their past perhaps?~ I also found nothing threatening or "yelling". I think we simply want to keep her from making a potentially life threatening mistake. Those statistics are accurate and necessary.Any WL group will verify this. Apparently some people don t go through enough other options .For some of us -this was an end stage hope.A last chance. -
2 years out and NOW having problems!!! :o(
JoJoBanana replied to SherriWittler's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
God be with you in what I know is a difficult time. I ve had ulcers and reflux long before I even heard of a lapband~but time and meds do heal these. This is a strength builder and a temporary setback. Thank God it wasn t ruptured or infected and they were able to leave your band intact. I will have you in my Prayers. Good Job on your weight loss success BTW....... -
LOL I ve found the secret of the band~~i can have anything I want -I need to chew chew chew---and then spit it out !! After my third fill 2 weeks ago+I ve had a lot of difficulty with everything-even morning shakes. But I will stay with the liquids until it eases up.And mashed potatoes -very thin very little. It will get better I know.

Feelings about being FAT.
JoJoBanana replied to staindgal's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
OR A SIMPLE THING LIKE WHEN SITTING IN THE BATHTUB DOESN T MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE A HUMAN DAM~DUE TO NO WATER IN THE BACK~AND A FLOOD IN THE FRONT. I AM OVER 50 AND HAVE FOUGHT MY WEIGHT ALL MY LIFE-FINALLY REACHING ALMOST 100# ABOVE MY NORMAL..AND WAS ELIGIBLE FOR THE LIFE SAVING LAPBAND. I CAN SIT WITHOUT MY THIGHS TOUCHING THE SIDES AND BLOCKING WATER.....FINALLY.! AND I STILL HAVE 37#TO LOSE... THIS IS BY FAR THE THREAD I HAVE NEEDED.YOU COULD ONLY UNDERSTAND THESE THINGS IF YOU ARE HONEST WITH YOURSELF AND REALLY ARE UNHAPPY BEING THIN INSIDE~BUT TRAPPED IN A FAT SHELL. THE BEST THING IS KNOWING I WILL NEVER~NEVER GAIN THAT WEIGHT BACK AGAIN. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SURE OF THAT BEFORE. -

I Want My Band Removed Now!!!!!
JoJoBanana replied to yazmarrero85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I personally do not want to be FAT forever.~That is my choice~and I will fight to my death to keep my band! I could Not get normal by myself. It was a last chance for me.And I am disgusted at myself for getting almost 100# over Normal weight. I am no longer a size 20-22.I can wear a 14-16 comfortably. And Airline seats don t choke me now.I don t feel like someone else is looking at me in my mirror. I wouldn t change anything for the chance to be "average size". I cannot imagine anyone truthfully saying they would rather be fat than healthy.Your knees and back will scream at you with the extra weight on you. I am sorry you are having a difficult time and hope you can resolve this and just be a happy you. God be with you and You will be heavy in my thoughts.... -
We just talked about this at our nutrition meeting.Anyone who thinks this is easy hasn t seen the pain on our face when we have some small shred of food stuck and feel like we are dying. Or after a fill being on liquids for 72 hours again -or the barium plug up after a swallow. The sliming over the simplest little ONE bite of soft scrambled egg ! I will never have pizza or Bread or eggs or Pasta or chips or chocolate candy or a few million other things that"normal "people eat. If that is EASY-i wonder what is tough??!! All at the thought of being average for once in my life. And you know what~~I d do it over and over if thats what it takes. People are so stupid. They are more than uninformed/they are ignorant. I say tell them if they think it is easy -to check out this site and read what the average bandster goes through. And that doesn t even cover the pre op tests and begging and fasting and Lord forbid complications.! It isn t EASY this way~ but it is far healthier than a lot of other options.
-
You Look Totally Awesome Where You Are.! All I Ever Wanted Was To Look "average"-not "skinny" The Question Is "how Do You Feel Where You Are At"? I Should Weigh Around 140--but Always Feel My Best At 150-155. Good Going Guy.!

"I went in for my 6 month check up and 2nd fill and found my port has evidently flipped. My doctor stuck me 13 times -- I counted the holes when I got home! (And that sounds worse than it really was!) -- and bent 4 needles. He could get a good grip on the port (unlike the first fill when there was still so much fat over it he could only HOPE he was hitting the right spot!), but couldn't get a needle in. So, just waiting for approval from the insurance co. and am tenatively scheduled for 2/10. He intends to relocate the port more towards my sternum where it's a little firmer territory than how squishy it is down by my navel. " THE ABOVE IS POSTED HERE UNDER FLIPPED PORTS As I read the postings yesterday-I thought of the flipped ports I had read about. And also thought of my second fill~ under floriscope~having to be stuck 4-5 times and the bending of the needle. The PAIN!! I almost got dressed and walked out.! They numbed me this time and had NO problem accessing-but there is still an awful lot of pressure required to access it. And I am sore the next two days or more. The Physicians creedo is"First do no harm"~and attempting self fills can potentially do a LOT of harm. Be safe.....there will be a way .

Did You See A Cardiologist?
JoJoBanana replied to dpj00024's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
CXR-EKG-UGI-Colonoscopy-Sleep Study-Mamogram-Pap Test-Psych Evaluation-and just a Full Blood work up-9 tubes. That is why Mexico scares me so much. If You want to have optimum results from surgery -you need a good clear picture of the Patient. NO SURPRISES.!! I agree with all the Pre-Op requirements. It was good to know where there were worries and where I was Healthy.
