Is my sleeve big ?!
AAA022414 replied to KimberlyBranco7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What do you mean by numb? -
Hi! I'm 9 days postop and feel totally normal. I've been doing full liquids and have no issues getting anything down. I can take big gulps and many drinks of something in a row. I don't ever feel full but I don't feel hungry so that's a plus! Is this normal? The couple people I know that had the surgery had a hard time especially in the beginning with being able to get enough liquids down.

What kinds of food are you eating 4 weeks out? Do you feel full? -
Yes! Evenings are the hardest for sure! After I put my son to bed at night...what else is there to do but eat!? I'm working through it though! I need to start going and jumping on the treadmill...

I have to add that the liquids really mess with your head! I forgot how strong of a thing head hunger really is! My husband (who only has around 10 lbs to lose) tried to do it with me, broke down the first day and got a large milk shake from DQ and tried to rationalize that it was liquid protein Maybe! But not the calorie count we are looking for!

Really good! I've lost about a pound a day so that feels awesome! Its nice seeing the drop and has really given me some strength and motivation to keep going! . Thank you for asking!
-
I did day 1 of the 5 day pouch test today and like most of this it just seems like it is mind over matter! I've stayed busy and haven't had any issues! I just need to finish the day off and go onto day 2!
-
This is all easier said then done...you're doing awesome by just working hard...and you're doing that, you said it!
-
Hello! Is it ok,if I join 5 days in? I could use a challenge to get my butt moving, since I've lost 5 days though I might set my goal at 85.
-
Thanks! . I'm needing lots of support right to jump start my losing mojo! Inspirational stories definitely help! 2 pounds to goal...you're awesome!

What do you mean you feel sick...Lap band related? Mine slipped and fell back into place. I was showed my before slip, slipped and after videos to see the comparisons...so yes, that's possible.

Seems like there are a few of us who are needing a fresh start!! I was banded feb 08-and did awesome! Focused on all the rules, took care of my band, treated it as a tool, worked hard and lost 110 pounds. Took about 2 years but I did it! My main motivation for getting the band was to lose weight In order to be healthy enough to have babies. My baby making parts just don't work when they are surrounded by 300 pounds. We officially started trying in march 2010 and were pregnant by September. In June 2011 we welcomed the most amazing little boy! He far exceeds any of my expectations of what motherhood would be like! ??? I stopped caring about myself because 1000% of my attention is on him and frankly I really don't want it any other way! We tried for 8 years to have him and he's all I've ever wanted. So now I'm back where I started my journey...300 lbs. I'm not happy with anything concerning myself. My self esteem is shot and then I start questioning my mothering skills. I don't want him to be teased for having the fattest mother. I want to be able to chase after him without feeling like I'm going to have a heart attack. I want him to be proud I'm his mom and never feel embarrassed because of my weight. I would also like to have another baby. I would like for him to have a sibling for so many reasons. I always wanted 4 but ill settle for 2 ???ƒ Great job on your new start!! I hope in 4 weeks I can have a successful weight loss like you!

How do I start over? I started at 303, had surgery at 290, worked out a ton and loved almost every minute of it, got pregnant at 200, had a slip and had all Fluid removed. Had baby at 235 and I just let go and lost focus on myself...18 months later I am 305 :*(. Exercise isn't fun. I feel terrible. I look terrible. And starting over seems like the very last thing I want to do. I feel lost and hopeless and need some guidance.

Hi Suzanne! Yes, I initially checked in on here quite a bit at the beginning. I didn't post a ton but read everything! I think it was encouraging seeing other people struggle with the same issues I had. Also it was helpful knowing I was doing things right and being able to give advice or kind words to someone who was struggling worse then I was. I think it's a good step reconnecting to the stories on this board and finding people who know my struggles! If you would like a buddy to vent to, I'm here!

Yes, discipline is what I need for sure! After surgery I used the band as a tool to assist me and right now I just want it to do everything for me. Ha! Very unrealistic expectations that have got me into trouble!

That's great weight loss Marly! Congrats on that!! I bet you will be able to pick up right where you left off! . I was unfilled for about 7 months since the slip happened during pregnancy and they wanted my body to adjust to not being pregnant before restarting the process. I was also a pretty slow/normal loser...took me 2 years to lose those initial 100 pounds so that's all I can think about with restarting my journey...2 years!

Thank you all for your kind words and advice. I recognize I'm my worst enemy and sabotage myself daily. I just can't wrap my brain around doing it all AGAIN. I've had a few fills and I'm almost back to where I was. I feel some restriction but like all band failures I've learned to eat around it and since there is no exercise in my life right the combo has proved to be depressing. I was so focused after surgery and followed every rule because I do desperately wanted a baby but wasn't healthy enough to get pregnant. My focus is completely on him now and I know I need to be healthy to be around for him but like I said I can't wrap my head around it. It was quite the journey and I worked my butt off every single day and I'm just not confidant that I can do it again. Ugh. I need to learn to take it 1 day at a time, 1 pound at a time.

"mentally ready" I wonder if that's most of my problem! Well, actually I KNOW that's my problem! I got another fill yesterday and I think I'm ready for it this time around. I've been seeing a therapist who specializes in weightloss surgery patients and I think that's really helping. -

Hey Cordelia--were you unfilled completely prior to this fill?? did you gain weight after having your baby? can you share a little bit of your story? Christina--how are you doing?? I got back tomorrow for another fill...still not having much success with feeling restriction. -
Anyone have experience with a slip? were you completely unfilled? what has been your experience since?
-
yes...I have a slip =( I was pregnant last year...everything was going fine and then at about 7.5 months i couldn't eat or drink anything...i was in major pain so they just took everything out. i had my baby in june and in august i started going back for fills...which at this point i had probably gained about 45 lbs. i kept gaining weight so they sent me for a barium swallow and i had slipped...but this time i had no paid. we're assuming when i was pregnant i had probably slipped then too. so that was january and i've been getting slow fills since then. well i keep gaining and gaining and gaining. so i'm feeling pretty hopeless and depressed that it will ever get back to where it suppresses my appetite and i lose weight. i'm sure they'll send me again here soon to get a look at it. i was just wondering if anyone had a situation like this happen to them and actually come out ok.

After Pregnancy Weight Loss
AAA022414 replied to mnjhowell's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
to make a long story short... I was pregnant and at about 7.5 months I was unable to eat or drink anything and in terrible pain so got a complete unfill. 1.5 months after my baby was born started getting filled again which was in August. So I've gone back every few weeks for another fill...then 2 weeks ago they sent me for a barium swallow to make sure everything was looking ok...nope! my band slipped...so back to being complete unfilled. I wasn't sick or anything so i had no idea...basically I was always starving and feeling like I needed to eat all the time so i was frustrated and wanted a huge fill. I had my surgery almost 4 years ago...I lost a total of about 110 lbs...gained about 20 being pregnant and then when I was unfilled at 7.5 months gained 25 over night...ugh! now i'm up another 40...yep! 85 lbs back! I am sooo depressed over this. My baby is 9 months old now and I can't seem to get my band back to "normal" =(
