what do you think it means when there's pain the middle of your back? it's kinda been hurting me for the past couple of days...i have pretty good restriction...really can't eat much and when i do...i HAVE to make sure i chew chew chew. my last fill was almost 3 weeks ago. i can really feel it after i chew up my vitamin and take my prescriptions at night before bed. this morning i ate string cheese and it got pretty bad...i know the band is tight but i can still eat about 3/4 cup but what is the pain in the back from?????

i really believe exercise is key...with good restriction it will reduce the amount food you can eat. i've learned if i don't eat the food that's good for me when i do it then i feel like crap...like i'm getting the flu...no energy, stiff all over and i just want to sleep. there's alot of people on here that have been such an inspiration with the amount of physical activity they do...it makes me push myself a little hard because if they did, why can't i??? i don't think anyone really loves to exercise when they're 300 lbs but if you want it bad enough and you are willing to push yourself then your body will follow you....mind over matter =)

2 cups of skim milk and a packet of sugar free carnation is 21 g of protein. i think the carnation says to use 1 cup of milk but i like it with 2...i was all freaked out about protein powders and stuff too and then my husband informed me that the carnation and milk was 21 so that's as far as i go with protein supplements. -
just try to do what works for you right now...since you're just starting out you don't have the best restriction...just try to make better choices than you would have before...and cut your portions from what they were before. for me the "eat to live" mentality didn't really start until i really kicked up my exercise and got good restriction. now that i can only a little bit at a time and i don't really get hungry i really do try to make sure that i get in food that has some sort of nutritional value...however i do also induldge in a bite here and there of something naughty! it's a learning process that you have to figure out for yourself...what works for 1 wont always work for another.

i crave sweet!! love everything about them...there's probably not a desert out there i wouldn't eat! =) since being banded i of course don't indulge like i once did...for 1 i can't...i just can't consume a whole piece of cake without it making me very very uncomfortable. pretty much i'll take a few bites of what i want and then be happy with that. the thing that has helped me lose the most is exercise. i burn quite a few calories and eat so few that a few bites here and there hasn't hindered my weight loss so far...im sure at some point i'll hit a wall and maybe need to rethink my diet a little bit =)

3.5 miles today my blisters are almost gone...thank god! they were a little bit bigger than quarters...one on each of the bottoms of my heels. now they just looked bruised and are a little bit tender but not too bad. the tops of my thighs are killing me...i'm not sure what to do about that?? good luck on your run!! that is VERY exciting! at this point i can't fathom the idea!! i can't even run a mile yet without stopping...i'll get there though.

no exercise for me today...yesterday i got a giant blister on the bottom of each heel and i can hardly walk. today i was told to get thicker socks so i'm going to try and see if that helps out any tomorrow when i workout. =(

plastics before pregnancy
AAA022414 replied to AAA022414's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
so I kinda got my answer today...so i thought i would update this i called my ins company to see if it was even a possibility, which they said it was and then gave me some names of plastic surgeons that were in network. when i went to my first seminar it was with a group that my ins actually didn't cover but these people said that they refferred their patients to the plastic surgery center down the hall...so that's who i called since i knew they would have experience with wls patients. so the nurse called me back and said that there's the surgery where they go in and tighten up all your muscles which i think is an actual tummy tuck? and then there's the surgery where they just go remove all the extra skin...which is the one that insurance is more likely to pay for...in her experience anyway...this one is a panectomy...or something like that =) she said you probably wouldn't want to do the muscle tightening one due to the fact when you get a big belly from being pregnant it will just stretch them all out and may undo what you had done...the one where they just remove the extra skin would probably not have too big of a noticable difference after being pregnant. so that's what i learned today... i now know something about the process i will need to go through once i'm totally deflated! =) -
4 miles today...

i think liquids for a few days is a good idea too. have you tried eating any other soft foods...it could be the rice. i can't eat rice..a couple of grains and i'm so uncomfortable...i've learned to stay away. i didn't even have good restriction when tha started happening with rice so i don't even want to know what happens now! just a thought.. =) good luck! -
try sugar free carnation instant breakfast...i mix 1 packet with 2 cups of milk and that's 21g of protein.

I have a 14cc band and just had my 3rd fill on monday...all my fills are done under flouro. i had 1 cc in my band at surgery...my first fill was 4 cc's my 2nd and 3rd were both 2cc's...so i'm up to 9...i'm finally feeling restriction. the flouro part is real easy...you can even ask to watch if you want...my doctor always turns the monitor towards me so i can see. he's in and out and i barely feel a thing. he then has me stand up and do a barium swallow where they then watch it go through the pouch and trickle down into your stomach...he watches how fast it goes...then puts more or takes some out. my advice...if he does do the barium swallow...make sure you take a big gulp. my first fill i didn't want to drink it so i took a very small drink which then made it look like it was hardly moving so he ended up taking 1 cc out...i could have ended up with 5 had i actually made an attempt to drink the nasty stuff. so ever since i have taken a big gulp and he ends up putting a little bit more in.

oh and thinking back...the metformin made me soooo gassy! it was quite embarrassing.
-
the metformin didn't do anything for me. before surgery i had high blood pressure and birth control pills made my blood pressure sky rocket so i couldn't take those because they then have a greater risk for strokes i guess. my body seems to be working since having the surgery and losing weight...i got my period twice...and i don't have high blood pressure so i'm back on birth control...seems to be going ok

I have plantar faschitis in my left foot...have you ever tried taping your foot? or got cortisone injected? my podiatrist doesn't use straight cortisone so you can have more injections in a year...i think with cortisone you can only have 3 or year? or 3 total? anyway it took about 5 shots and since i've lost weight I rarely feel it! have you tried dansko for while you are at work? they are exspensive but well worth it. i bought 2 pairs almost 7 years ago and still wear them almost everyday. as for the running shoes i would maybe try to running store find something you like and write down the kind and style and call dicks or any other sporting goods store or look online and see if you can't find them cheaper. as for not finding the same quality shoe at a sporting goods store...i don't necessarily agree...when i look on asics website...the brand i bought last night...the shoe i bought is asics 3rd best shoe for running and was bought at a sporting goods store...when looking at where else you can buy them 2 running stores came up as well as footlocker and finishline...the running stores may just have more experience and advise since it's more specialized.

Do you have a scheels? they are really knowledgable and most of those people do some sort of sport...the girl that helped me ran. i guess new shoes come out every 6 months so they had a TON on clearance...i tried a few on and almost bought a pair but my husband found the ones i ended up with and they were perfect...well at the time. turns out the girl that helped said she buys those shoes everytime they come out with a new one because those are her fav running shoes. my husband uses the nike max moto and you can usually find those on clearance...they were all out of my size or i woud have just go those last night...i've had a few pairs and really liked them.

I did 2.5 miles today...that's all i could do. i got some new running shoes today...$135! i've never paid so much for shoes...i was so excited! after 2 miles the side of my foot started burning so i did all i could to force myself to 2.5 and i now have a big blister! my husband thinks they weren't laced right...i guess we'll see...

do you follow the post fill diet and why is it necessary?
AAA022414 replied to Linda Hamsing Rosen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my doc tells me to do liquids for a WEEK after a fill! then mushies for the WEEK after that! and then back to regular foods...personally the thought of soup makes my stomach turn...so i kinda do a mushie/liquid diet...cream of wheat...carnation...yogurt...and then when i can no longer stand that then i try some food with texture.
