i'm a pepsi addict...my doc says none at all so i stopped about a month before surgery and then i didn't drink any for about 2 months after surgery but then because i'm naughty it started becoming a habit again so yes, i drink it everyday. it doesn't bother me, however i'm sure i would have lost more if i wasn't drinking it!

I personally feel like everyone's sweet spot is different. I know my Doc/Nut said I should not be able to eat more than 1 cup at a time...The nut wants me to eat about 700 calories a day. That doesn't work for me. I work out 6 days a week for 2.5 hours...when I eat 700 calories I feel like crap! I cant make it through the day let alone my workout. They also say to eat 3 meals a day...I eat 4-5...So do I eat a cup each time? well probably not, but I do eat more than 3 cups of food a day. So you probably just need to find what works for you...you'll get a fill and you'll just know.

I "think" i am at 9 cc's. I haven't had a fill since June so I can't quite remember...it may be 10 but i'm pretty sure it's 9. I have an appt to get a fill on jan 19th but I think I will cancel. There are days where I feel like i could eat a house and then a couple of days later it goes back to normal and i'm thank god i didn't get a fill!

milk-2 cups of skim milk and a packet of sugar free carnation is 21 grams of protein...cheap and easy
-
i get most of my protein from milk, cottage cheese, yogurt, turkey, chicken or ham and cheese. there are tons of things that have low calories and high protein. i wasn't always a huge fan of cottage cheese or milk but when i think of how low in calories they are and how much protein i'm getting, they have both become my favorite things to eat! =)
-
I don't drink any protein drinks and never have. I bought a bunch of samples before i was banded to try them before I had to buy a big container of something I didn't like...they smell bad and I have yet to try any of them. I drink a lot of milk...i used to put sugar free carnation in it before super target stopped selling it here (darn it!) so now i drink 2 cups a milk in the morning with some sugar free hershey syrup. I get my protein from the milk, cottage cheese, chicken, turkey or ham, yogurt and cheese. i can easily hit 70 g of protein. Don't forget to pay attention to Fiber too! I wasn't eating at all and it was a hard lesson learned!

i was terrified to workout in the gym! i thought i would be the fattest, sweatiest person there and everyone would stare at me! not so at all...there are many other chubby people there just trying to do their thing and those that are in super duper shape are there to maintain their shape. they are focused on themselves and could care less about what is going on around them. don't be scared! you too will get addicted and ignore everything around you!

or do you take medicine before bed or a vitamin? that was my problem (or at least i hope it is) (knock on wood) i would take my medicine and my vitamin and then lay down and go to sleep...i would wake up in major pain and throw up clear mucus for hours and my stomach would be in tons of pain. i started taking my vitamin in the morning and make sure i take my meds an hour before bed...so far so good.

Need to Poop - constipation
AAA022414 replied to ukcatsfan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i went through the same thing but probably at about 5 months out...i didn't poo for 10 days!! i was soooo uncomfortable. I would be so hungry but nothing was coming out so nothing could go in. My mom told me to take a laxative which totally just freaked me out! but after 10 days i went and got some, along with prune juice and Fiber tablet (i'm not sure what kind) the combination of just buying it scared the poo right out of me! thank goodness! make sure you're eating enough fiber! i wasn't eating any! I eat a yoplait + yogurt every single day...if i run out and haven't bought any more, i can definetly fee the difference! so my advice, make sure you're paying attention to your fiber intake along with your Protein intake. -
I chose lapband because I wanted something that would teach me how to live a healther lifestyle. I wanted to lose slow and I wanted to make sure I physically helped my body. I didn't want a quick fix I wanted a tool. I've worked out hard to lose the weight I have lost and I like knowing that. Working out makes me feel better, makes things tighter and mentally I think it helps me keep up with the weight loss.

it comes with 2 arm bands...one is larger than the other. I have some hang going on as well...i'm not sure how it effects the readings?? It's suppose to be accurate but i'm not sure how many calories I really burn without wearing it?? You should have no problem keeping it on...I only noticed it the first few days I wore it, somedays I have to actually feel with my hand to make sure I put it on. It's fun though, it's kinda like a game to beat your calories burned from yesterday.
-
Me too! for the first time EVER, I went to the gym on thanksgiving and worked out! I generally do nothing but eat!:cursing:

At what point did you stop losing?
AAA022414 replied to dietpeach's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Did you feel ok eating 600 calories and running 7 miles a day?? I can't do it! I start feeling like crap! If I don't eat then I can't make it through a workout. My muscles freeze, I get shakey, I get headaches and I get VERY irritable! I can't make it through my workday let alone a 2 hour workout. How do you did you do it? did you eat certain things? I have to eat about 1000-1100...I follow the band rules...lots of Protein and eat things with good nutritious calories. -
a fill through fluroscopy is the only kind of fill i've had so i'm not sure if it's better or not?? I know it does allow the doctor to see how liquid is going through so he doesn't send you away too tight or too loose. My 2nd fill he put too much in and then when we did the barium swallow it didn't want to go empty out of the pouch so he took a little bit out and we did the swallow again and it then it was perfect. Had i been sent home like that, who knows how i would have felt. I don't know, I think it's worth it...I think it helps them be a little more exact so that maybe you'll have less problems??
-
you just need to do it. when you hear the exercise gives you more energy...it's true! maybe the first few times you'll be tired but once you get going...you'll have all kinds of energy. get a workout buddy that way you can hold eachother accountable. start small...commit to 10 minutes a day...whatever it takes to just do it. =)
-
pretty much the last thing i want to do is eat after a workout! I get pretty tight as well so then i just don't even want to try. they say it's important to eat after a workout so i always just try to drink some milk...so that way it's good calories and some protein.

How many have had GERD post-surgery
AAA022414 replied to Nanook's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I NEVER had issues with any sort of acid reflux/heartburn anything...i'm still not even sure what heartburn is. Sometimes i wake up out of a dead sleep and all of a sudden i'll have to throw up...i don't throw anything up but clear liquid stuff...it happens maybe every other week. after the first couple of time i told my doctor and he told me to start taking xantac at night before bed. I've noticed spicey stuff does it so i've stopped eating it. On monday I have no idea what I ate but i woke up in such horrible pain and was throwing up for over an hour...nothing but clear liquid stuff and it was the most awful tasting stuff ever!! when i can finally get myself to stop then my stomach burns and is so uncomfortable. The doctor thinks it's acid...my throat feels like i have a sore throat since throwing up on monday. He called in a prescription antacid that i have to take 2 times a day now to see if that helps. otherwise he wants to take some out of band =( -
I really feel it's the best money I have EVER spent...the more sessions you buy the cheaper it is...i pay about $49 a session. I work out with him 2 days a week. they start you out slow and I have never seen any of the trainers yell at you like they do on biggest loser =) They keep you going...telling you are doing a good job, good form, just 2 more left...etc etc. my trainer asked if i had any problem spots...like sore back, hips etc. at the end of the session, if something is sore he massages it with this big roller thing...or stretches me out. I do my own cardio and only do strength training with him...sometimes i ask him what to do with my cardio but i kinda feel like it would be a waste of money for him to stare at me for an hour while i'm on the treadmill/eliptical. as far as my fitness level...i thought i was doing pretty good, but working with him i've realized how much more endurance i have...i can do things on the treadmill that i was never able to do. if you decide to do it and don't care for the trainer you get, just switch...it's just like anything else...sometimes your personality just isn't going to match.

What do YOU look for in a personal trainer?
AAA022414 replied to Manatee's topic in Fitness & Exercise
They just assigned me one...I love him! Do you work out at the gym right now? Maybe you could just kinda watch them all work with different people and see what kind of style you like. I've noticed that some are very much into the motivational thing...the whole time you are working out and others just kinda let you do your thing. They'll probably ask you if you would prefer a man or woman...i said i didn't care...however, i'm glad i got who i got. as i see the other trainers work with people, there's like 2 others i wouldn't mind working with, if mine were to ever leave that is! i need someone to talk to me and some people just can't carry on a conversation to save their lives. so that's my advice...watch them. -
has anyone ever felt this? i work with a trainer and yesterday he had me sitting on the floor on my butt with my knees up to my chest and going side to side with a medicine ball. well all of a sudden i started getting this weird pain in my left side and then i could feel like something hitting my ribs and bumping across them?? so i feel like it's over where the actual band is?? do you think that's possible?? i called my doctor and he said it sounded like it was probably a muscle rubbing up against my ribs and it my band wouldn't be in the way of anything?? i'm kinda confused...i kinda feel like it's the band??

We have equipment at home that I have been using since my lapband journey began but I'm feeling bored and unmotivated these days so i looked into joining a gym and hiring a trainer. So i did! my first session is tomorrow...for anyone that has worked with a trainer...what can i expect??! i'm kinda nervous and intimidated!
-
after the training I kinda felt like he wasn't pushing me enough and this morning i felt pretty good...but the longer i sat in my chair at work the more muscles i started to feel! tight hamstring and then the backs of my arms and the my shoulders and then my abs... so i guess it was a good start! I can feel my muscles but i fell like i can still walk! i'm looking forward to going tomorrow!
-
just a little update... I had my first session last night. it went good, we only worked out for about 20 minutes as the rest of the time was spent going over measurement and body bugg stuff. but in those 20 minutes he sure did work me! i'm going again tonight and tomorrow night so i may want to die! it's funny becuase i'm just as nervous tonight as i was last night!

Josephine-I have the same problem-a husband who doesn't need to exercise for weightloss so therefore he never wants to! Since i'm stuck right now i've asked him to put some effort in working out with me but he's kinda a drag...he's basically just there so i don't nag on him and he's trying to be supportive but he really doesn't care to push himself or maximize his results in any way so that doesn't help me...I do enjoy his company though =)
-
Thanks Luluc! that makes me feel better. I had no problem pushing myself before but now i think i'm just bored with myself that I cannot figure out where the enthusiasm came from that i once had to 1. enjoy my workouts and 2 to push myself harder every day/week/month. i've plateaued and need something to push me in the right direction so i'm hoping the trainer will help with this! =)
