Has anyone had success after a complete unfill...fill...slip and another complete unfill? to make a long story short... I was pregnant and at about 7.5 months I was unable to eat or drink anything and in terrible pain so got a complete unfill. 1.5 months after my baby was born started getting filled again which was in August. So I've gone back every few weeks for another fill...then 2 weeks ago they sent me for a barium swallow to make sure everything was looking ok...nope! my band slipped...so back to being complete unfilled. I wasn't sick or anything so i had no idea...basically I was always starving and feeling like I needed to eat all the time so i was frustrated and wanted a huge fill. I had my surgery almost 4 years ago...I lost a total of about 110 lbs...gained about 20 being pregnant and then when I was unfilled at 7.5 months gained 25 over night...ugh! now i'm up another 20...so yeah I've gained 65 back =( I go back in Wednesday to see if the band went back to normal and see what the next step is. I never had any sort of issue until my pregnancy and ever since that first unfill I've yet to "feel" my band...

So I have had my bad for 2.5 years. i had a fill in march '09 and didn't have it adjusted again until july '10 due to some reflux issues so they took out 1 cc... during this time i started on a medicine that made me gain a TON of Water weight. So on top of this I started noticing I was then eating more that i was used to...so between the 2 I gained 20 lbs...yuck! so...I went back and they gave me back .5...didn't really do much at all...so i went back again and they added .7, that was last wednesday. so i felt fine and definetly was feeling much more restriction but it wasn't at all uncomfortable. then comes saturday...we went to a surprise party for a friend and we all ended up sick so we are thinking it was something we ate...so all day sunday i threw up everything but my toenails NOW it hurts so bad to eat anything (like yogurt) and in the morning i can hardly drink anything...ugh! i have never had restriction like this...it's terrible... what do i do?? it's a 4 hour drive each way to get my fill so if i can i'd rather wait since we just did the drive last week. is it just irritated from being sick?? is it just swollen?? will it go back to normal? when? how do i make it normal?? thanks!! (sorry it's so long)

do you belong to a gym?? maybe use some different equipment for a few weeks...your body is probably used to your current workout...alot of gyms give 1 free personal training session...use that and figure out how to use the weight machines...you may need to shock your body into some strength training. if you work out at home then...do you switch up the workout you do on the treadmill?? try not walking at the same pace the whole time...do intervals walk as fast as you can for like 1 min and then slow down for 2. or have you started jogging?? if not start slow..30 seconds at a time and bulid up. do you have free weights?? if you google exercise with free weights it will give you all kinds of exercises to do.

people ask me all the time too =) i must lead a secret life in the middle of the night that even i don't know about!

i bruise alot too now...i've had all of my Vitamin levels checked numerous times and everythings is always "normal" i couldn't even tell you where half of my bruises come from...you would think i would remember some of them, expecially when they're large and colorful! i've stopped worrying...my docs don't seem too concerned since everything is normal and usually they don't even hurt???
-
so how do you guys tuck in all your extra skin?? i was running 2.5 miles non-stop at 6mph about 25 lbs ago. it seems that my stomach was a lot fuller then and now that's it's looser, it kills my back when i run! i'm lucky if i can even run a full mile before my back feels like it's going to start on fire. it also hurts my belly when it's bouncing all over the place (gross i know!) any thoughts??

the recovery scares the crap out of me!

i was hoping you guys weren't going to say that! =) i was hoping for some miracle suck them in super pants or something! i've seen 1 plastic surgeon and go next week to see another...the first one submitted stuff to insurance so i guess we'll see what happens...

gwyllgi couldn't have said it better! i didn't quite make it to an average of 2 lbs a week but over all i did my best and that's what matters! sometimes i dont lose, sometimes i gain a pound and sometimes i lose 3. just do you best to stick to the plan your surgeon gives you and your body will try to keep up with you. good luck!

Ideal calorie count to lose the most weight?
AAA022414 replied to malissa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i think it really depends on you. there would be no way that i could do 600 calories and make it through a workout...i've tried...i get headaches, i feel like i'm going to pass out and i get very shakey...it's not pretty. i personally stay at around 1100...it seems to be enough calories to get me through my workouts but enough to help me lose. -
i crave sugar all the time...sweets were my addiction before surgery and they continue to be my downfall...doesn't really matter what it is...if it has sugar in it, i want it! =) if one day i don't crave it, then i might have something serious going on! hehe

thanks for your replies. the reason i ask is this. i take medication for depression, but lately i've been feeling quite sluggish and blue. the last time i saw my band doctor i was fine so this wasn't an issue. it actually hasn't been an issue since way before i was banded...so there would really be no reason for them to let me know that this could effect my mood and energy level...ya know what i mean? i'm just wondering if my mood could actually be a side effect of the low vit d.

i get it to...however mine feels like something is hitting my ribs...like it goes bump bump bump and then it's sore...my doctor says it's impossible that it would be my band and it's probably a muscle....?????? it doesn't always happen but when it does, it really starts to worry me

i got stuck at 50 lbs too...for about 2 months. do you lift weights? maybe try mixing up your workout routine a little bit...try different things...can you afford a trainer?? that might help, that's what i did anyway.

APL 14cc Band - I'm Scared
AAA022414 replied to jetsy62's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have a 14 cc band, i have 10 in it now...I think i have had 4 fills so far. i went into the 4th thinking i was never going to get any restriction and wondered if i was going to have to be all the way "filled" he kinda laughed at me and said no. that one did it, i got that adjustment in june so it's been 7 months and i think i'm about ready for maybe a very small one. -
you're over halfway to you goal...so you must be doing something right! i hate the stairclimber too and that's exactly why i do it! commit yourself to doing it, even if it's only say 3 minutes and then next week bump it up a minute. there's something about the stairs that kick my butt more than doing anything else! i work with a trainer and he said as far as the speed/time it's better to go slower and go for a longer period of time than try to go faster with a shorter amount of time. hills are good, intervals are great. intervals burn tons of calories! as far as calories burned on the machines, i think usually they are a bit higher than what you actually burn...that's what the guy that signed me up at the gym said anyway =) try to stick in some weight training too every now and again. that really helps the weight loss as well as giving you something else to do so you don't get too bored with the treadmill. also, try the elliptical! just commit a few minutes too it and you'll get better and better at it. as far as hanging onto the treadmill...it makes it easier and you don't work as hard, but if you dont feel comfortable letting go, then keep hanging on! you're doing great!

I still think everthing is delicious! most of the time i'm just not interested in it because it's empty calories. One day i looked and 1 peanut m&m has 10 calories...well who can eat just 1?! i know i can't so say 30 (because i love them) so that's 300 calories. the nuts are good for you but other than that, there's no real nutritional value, and lets face it, we're not eating them because the nuts are good for you! but anyway my point is...calculate how long it would take you on a treadmill or whatever to burn those 300 empty calories!

This is exactly how i feel about it! I use it as a tool, not an end all, be all. I also see it as a huge investment that I made and I would be stupid to mess it up. I put myself through major surgery and all the stuff that goes with that and I would just feel really disapointed in myself if I let that all go to waste. I've always been an active person, and with the band I made a promise to myself to actually live the active life. I am a gym junkie! and from that I have learned how to eat. If you dont fuel your body with the right foods than you're not going to make it through a workout. I eat anything I want, however I have to make sure that 98% is going to keep me healthy. I've never ate alot of food, I just never paid any attention to nutritional value and over indulged in sweet stuff. I really do believe that 95% of my weightloss is due to the fact that I exercise and eat the things that help me make it through my workouts. my band isn't tight and I make the choice daily weather or not to eat the slider foods or not! good luck with your band!

The easy way out? meaning WLS? because in my opinion there has been nothing easy about this...I have worked my butt off right from the begining to lose the 70 lbs I have lost. Everyday I still have to make the right decisions as to what I put in my mouth and everyday I have to make a decision weather I will drag myself to the gym. If i had a trainer in my room everyday, BELIEVE me, I would definetly get my butt out of bed! I pay for my trainer and my gym membership and don't do other things in order to afford it. Having the surgery was a choice I made to guide me in a better direction...and that's exactly what it has done...there hasn't been one day that I have let the band do all the work for me!
