2 wks post op - afternoon pain - anyone else?
BandedInNY replied to DaisyMay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am two weeks post op also. If I do too much during the day I get a pain in the right side rib area as well. I think it is around the muscle my port is attached to. I feel great in the morning like before the band. I thought that I would be able to jump back into the swing of thing but I guess it takes longer when your pushing forty. Just another great perk about getting older. -

Because you are exercising you are probably gain muscle and losing fat even though the scale isn't moving. Also, try a cheat day everyonce in a while. I usually try once a week to once every two weeks. Don't go nuts but have a little more. It really gets your metabolism going again. I usually lose at least 2 lbs after a cheat day. Hope this helps.

I was banded on April 28th. I went for my post op on Tuesday and the PA told me I was ready to ease in mushies. Yeah. I have only really added tuna with lite mayo so it wouldn't be too dry to get down. Only two tbsp and I am stuffed. To change it up a bit I found these Bumble Bee Easy Peel Sensations. I just had the Sundried tomato and basil flavor. Very good. I tried to eyeball the two tbsp but I think I went a little over because I feel stuffed right now. Have any of your doctors told you to keep your food to two tbsp?

Help!!! How to obtain 5 year history of obesity
BandedInNY replied to Coley21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Coley, I have BCBS of NY and it also states I need 5 years of a weight problem. Although I have it, the only thing I provided for that was my letter. The surgeons office did not submit the lette until she had all the paperwork to submit. You can view my letter I wrote on my blog, www.shrinkingalesha.blogspot.com . It is my very first post. The biggest thing they look for is the 6 month preop diet. If I were you I would make an appointment with a nutritionist now, even if it is before you see the surgeon. Get that ball moving soon. I am so glad you posted. I had my surgery on the 28th also. As soon as I woke up I had a lot of guilt too. A little too late for second thoughts but none the less I can stop thinking "why did I do this". I am sure it will pass. I know I made the right decision and I am on my way to a healthier me. I just wanted you to know you are not alone.

Any April 28th bandsters out there?
BandedInNY replied to angelface's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 28th also. Tuesday I felt a lot better but now I am in more pain. I can walk around the house, do a little laudry and make dinner but I need to rest in between. I cannot lift anything. I am on clear liquids for one week. I am going to keep on them until my appointment next Tuesday. I can only eat or drink very little or it feels like it is going to come up. I cut up my pain med into several small pieces and take one at a time with a small sip. By the last little piece I can feel in hovering in down around my collar bone. I have come to realize that surgery was a lot easier when I was 25 (gall bladder) then now when I am 38. I was fine in two days with my gall bladder. Just another benefit of getting older. -
Seriously having second thoughts
BandedInNY replied to Carrie_C's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my surgery yesterday morning. I had second thoughts while being prepped for surgery. I even said to my self more than a dozen times after surgery, "why did I do this". I feel much better today and I am thankful I went through it. Now that I am creeping up on 40 years old, my body does not drop the weight like I used to. Plus I keep thinking that I can lose the weight on my own but I cannot keep it off. This is a great tool that will help my reach and maintain my goal so I can get my life back. I think everyone has some kind of second thoughts at one point but most people are so glad they went through with it. Hang in there. -

I may be selling myself short but my goal is 150 and I am 5'2". I was a size 10 when I weighed 160 so I thought 150 would be good. Don't get me wrong. I would love to be 130 but I did not want to reach for the highest star either. I am sure my goals will change as I get heathly.

sleep study..no sleep
BandedInNY replied to KayleighsMommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are not alone. When I went for my sleep study I went to sleep and woke up a 1 1/2 hours later to go to the bathroom. The tech said he was getting information. About an hour later I woke up with a horrible aniexty attack. I have had them 5 years ago so I knew I wasn't having a heart attack. I had to walk around for an hour to calm down but I never could go back to sleep. The following week they said I had mild apnea, from the short time I did sleep, and had to go back for the machine. I took two Xanyex (not sure on the spelling) and brought my own sheets and pillows. I slept until midnight and woke up. The tech said I woke up very quickly. I did not have another attack but I could not go back to sleep. So I told them I needed to go home. So the doctor prescribed a adjustable setting cpap machine. It is a very low setting. I am sleeping okay with the nose pillows and hopefully I will be able to get rid of the machine when I lose more weight.
