    Any January 2010 Bandsters????

Having surgery on Jan 26th in Champaign, Illinois. Did this last year almost 1 week to the day and the surgon got in there, found a hernia and said I could never have the band. What a blow emotionally and fiancially! So a year later I found a good surgon who has no problems fixing the hernia so here I go again. Day 2 of the pre-op diet and it is killing me, but then so is my weight so I dont really have room to complane. Just worried I will wake up again and be told sorry-no band.

    Peoria, IL Doctor

I was involved with the Weight Loss program at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria--Dr.Salimath. I felt the program was good--very through with many and I mean many medical exams!! I went in for lap band on Feb 3rd and woke up excited only to find out I had a heital hernia (sorry about the spelling) and he could not put the band on. I was crushed---the process from start to finish took me 1 year. I felt all my time invested in this process and joining these message boards was just ripped from me. I will go back tomorrow to see Dr.Salimath to find out why this hernia--(which we knew was there) but I am assuming the size or status of it was not fully known----so now I will rely on myself and determination to loose this weight. As I will not have by-pass or other surgery. Overall I was happy with Methodist, and felt that Dr. Salimath was a good doctor. I just wish I had better results---but you never know---maybe this was God's way of telling me I am strong enought to do this on my own. Lord knows two weeks on pre-op shakes can really test your will power. Good luck to everybody that successfully has this surgery--I wish I was one of you.
  5. Not so much scared---my office mate just had it done through a different program and watching her has been comforting. I am worried that I will have unrealistic weight loss expectations. But overall I just want it done and over with. This whole process has taken me 1 year and I am ready to move on to the next step.
  6. Congrats!! I started my pre-op diet today and will be banded on 2/3/09, it is very exciting! good luck on the diet!!
