I had my surgery performed by Dr. Roger DE La Torre at DuPaul hospital. He was one of the first Drs. to begin doing the lapband in test studies in 1998. Not sure about the age limit but you could call the Dupaul weight Loss center to ask at 314-344-6800. good luck -

Dyzzy, I think I know which forum you're talking about cause I received the same kind of response when I mentioned I was getting WLS. I was banded on April 23rd & I'm happy with the results so far & would do it over in a minute. You have to do what you feel is right for you . Good luck in your journey. -
I used to watch it on wed. nights at 9 p on the TLC channel but haven't seen it for several weeks now . Does anyone know if it's still on or not?

Greetings I was banded on 4/23 & I weighed in 4 weeks later down 31 lbs. Most of that was the 1st week on the clear liquids. Good luck. -
Hi all,I'm also an April 23rd bandster. The surgery went well & I had no pain to speak of. I'm on semi-hard foods right now , but I am getting hungry a lot but I'm having my 1st fill on June 5 so that should help.It's been 4 weeks today & I'm down 30 lbs. I hope this continues, Best of luck to all of you..

I am now the proud owner of a Realize Gastric Band.:cry_smile: Surgery started at 1205p. and ended at 1225p. I don't remember a thing. Feeling pretty good so far, not much pain to speak of. Not hungry at all but trying to get in my water & protein. I'm so glad that I went through with this so I can finally start my new healthy life.:rolleyes2: Will keep in touch.

I haven't tried the advantedge but I get unjury. The chocolate is my favorite with a couple tbls. of coco. Youngny, you can have brouth, SF Jello & SF popsicles -
Hi Gang, My name is John & I was banded on April 23rd By Dr. De La Torre in St. Louis Mo. At 3 & 1/2 weeks out I'm down 29 lbs., All healed up & feeling great. I go in for my 1st fill on June 5. My staring BMI was 51 although I had no Pre-op diet. Well good luck to everyone & I'll keep in touch.

Don't worry Rea Rea, I didn't have any surgery prior to this one either but it was all over before I knew it. I had no pain to speak of & felt great after about 10 days. The clear liquid diet wasn't much fun but it was a lot better once I started on mushies. Just hang in there it's not going to be nearly as bad as you think. -

Hey gang, Just thought I'd give an update. I was banded on 4-23 & I'm down 27 lbs, no pre-op diet. Had a little nausea for a few days but started felling better after starting mushes. Feeling good right now & have started working out but lightly. Hope everyone is doing well & will keep you posted -
Welcome to bandland Sam, I'm 2 weeks out & feel great. Plus 27 lbs lost makes me feel even better. I'm surprised you are banded so young. My Dr. doesn't give surgery unless you've yoyo dieted for several years. Are you self pay?

I was banded the same day as you & I'm eating the same breakfast, usually 3-4 oz of cottage cheese & applesause for lunch, & about 4oz of refried beans with lowfat cheese & 3-4oz of cooked carrots for dinner. For snack I have a protein shake with yogart & maybe some SF jello. Just curious what is denny moore stew? -
Hi all, Just checking in. Well I'm 8 days post-op & doing pretty well. Just a little nausea but the nurse says that may last a few more days. Had staples removed & weight in yesterday. Down 21 lbs.the 1st week. Guess that's not a bad start. Well good luck to all of you & will keep in touch.

Dear Pat, Hope I'm putting this in the right place. I'm doing quite well, surgery went well only 20 min. Got my staples removed today & feeling more comfortable. Stomach still feeling a bit queezie but Nancy said that would probably last another week. Starting semi-hard food on Sat. So maybe that will help. Lost 21 lbs. the 1st. week,couldn't believe it. Will keep in touch John

Greetings all, I'm now 5 days post-op & doing quite well except for the pain from my staples, but the doc is going to take them out on Wed. Should start soft foods this weekend but so far haven't had much appetite. Anyway good luck to everyone &stay in touch

Well I did it, I was banded yesterday 4/23. I'm so glad I went though with it so I can finally start my new life. Congrads to all the April bandsters who have been banded & good luck to the remaining April bandsters to be.
