I'm nervous. Band surgery on 03/03/08!
Terrisioux posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello all! I am scheduled to have the lap band surgery on 03/03/08. I'm very excited, nervous, and a little afraid. Not so much about the surgery (well a little) but more so about adjusting to life with the lap band. I'm having my surgery at KU Med Center and Dr. Niazy Selim is my surgeon. Are there any other patients of Dr. Selim's out there? Can anyone tell me what to expect? I have literature but I wanted to hear it straight from the horses mouth so to speak. Is everyone happy they had the procedure done? I'll keep reading the different threads just to hear others stories. I think it's fantastic that this site is available!!! Thanks to anyone in advance that replies back. -
Hi Sadie! Just go to TickerFactory.com and click on free weight loss tickers. Follow the steps and once you have your ticker the way you want it you can just copy, use your back button to go back into LBT and paste it into your signature. SAVE before you use your back button though. Once you have it saved you have to enter a PIN number. Sounds to me like you just go in and update the ticker yourself then keep edited your profile. I'm a newbie so maybe that's not the proper way to do things but it worked for me. Good luck! Reply back to this thread if you need assistance. : )

What to tell co-workers
Terrisioux replied to Rachel In L.A.'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Rachel! My case is a little different. I work in a larger company and some might say that weight loss surgery is becoming a fad in our company. I know of 20 co-workers that have had weight loss surgery, whether it be Gastric or Lap Band. The first few that had it were pretty hush hush but as their weight started coming off and everyone started noticing and making comments about how great these people looked, they started sharing their stories. What I saw is that their stories started inspiring other overweight people to get the ball rolling. Now whenever the grapevine spills out a new person that is having weight loss surgery, I see nothing but encouragement and support coming their way. This was the case for me once I announced my lap band date. As with anything though, you have to do what is right for you. Good luck with your surgery!!! -
Hi CTman, thanks for the nice reply! I'll look forward to hearing about your progress! Good luck, this is going to be a life changing experience for us all! Oh boy!! : ) Terri

Hi Sadie! Congratulations on your band date!!! I as well am having my band surgery on March 3rd. I am very happy and a bit nervous. This is a great site though for information. My doctor only has me on a clear liquid diet one day prior. I'm amazed at the different pre-op instructions per surgeon. Good luck to you on your surgery. I'll look forward to sharing the post op discoveries, both good and bad! CONGRATULATIONS to you too CTman and Texgirly!!! I hope we all do fabulous!!!

Anyone ever afraid people will treat you different when you're not overweight?
Terrisioux replied to vessa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Juli, I really liked your reply. I have been worried about this very issue. My lap band surgery will be March 3, 2008 and I find I am really starting to worry about all sorts of things. Just pre-surgery cold feet (esphogus) I guess. However, I am now going to start doing what you said you do in your reply. I've learned in my 43 years, 26 of them being overweight, that some people do judge a book by it's cover. I have also learned that the power of suggestion works!!! Thanks Juli for your inspirational words, even though they were spoken to someone else. : ) -
Extra skin...???
Terrisioux replied to longwalker1961's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been wondering/worrying about the same thing. I am scheduled to have my surgery on 3/3/08 and as the day gets closer it seems some people can't keep from asking me this question. What are you going to do about all that loose skin. Not giving me warm fuzzies. Yet still happy to get banded. THANKS! -
DISCOURAGED... anyone else?

Hi Grace, side bar. : ) I see you have lost 7 lb's below your goal weight. WOW!!! Congratulations!!! May I ask when your band date was? I am scheduled to have my surgery 03/03/08 and really getting nervous about adjusting to being a bandette! : ) But happy about the upcoming weight loss. THANKS!
