I agree with LIVELAUGHLOVE. Dr. Hoffmans card reads General Surgery/Laparoscopic Surgery. I would give his assistant Lisa a call at 859-4024 to find out if they accept your insurance.

I actually started out with Dr. Caruana for the gastric bypass, had a surgery date and changed my mind. I then began looking into getting banded. It is a very good program. I was told by his office that his associate, will begin banding the end of summer.

HI, I am from Buffalo also. I am in the process of having it done. I just got my surgery date yesterday for June. I am going with Dr. Hoffman at Buff Gen. He is with the Comprehensive Weight Loss Clinic. If you are interested your first step would be to call the clinic at 859-1168 and request a new patient packet. After you fill out the packet and send it in they will call and schedule you for a seminar. The seminar will explain the diff types of weightloss surgery, so you can choose the best for you. Gastric bypass or the band. After the seminar they call you to set up an appointment for whats called a 3 hour blitz. It is with the dietician, nurse, and physical theripist. They will let you know any additional testing they want done, sleep study for example, everyone is different. Also you may want to let them know which Dr. you choose. There are three doctors that are in the clinic.

Yep two appointments, the first is at the 3 hour blitz. Finally got my surgery date for June I am so excited. Hubby is also having the surgery in June.

MY 3 hour blitz was March 13. I was told I had to have a sleep study, bloodwork, urine test, and psych appointment. I had that done within 2 weeks. I then had to have a second appointment with the dietician which was April 16. I tried to see the doctor earlier but I was told I had to wait 2 months from my 3 hour blitz to see the doctor. Hopefully you will have better luck with the scheduling then I did. I also went to Dr. Lelito. He is good. I had a $20.00 copay to pay at time of visit, but I had Independent Health. I have yet to make it to the walk in the park, I have two little ones so sometimes its not so easy to get a family member to watch them so early.

Hi everyone. I haven't posted in a long time. Anyway I finally completed all my testing, had my 3 hour blitz and meeting with Dr. Hoffman this week. Hope to have a surgery date!!!!

Hi, did you leave your address on the voicemail? They send you out a packet of paperwork to fill out. You fill it out send it in and they contact you for the seminar.

I like the South Beach peanut butter cereal bars. 10 grams of protein.

Everyone is different with the list from the nurse. For example I had to have a sleep study, bloodwork and a 24 hour urine.

They call about a week after the seminar, to make your appt with the dietician, physical theripist, and Barb the nurse practitioner. Barb will give you a list of things to complete before you see the doctor.

Hi DeeH, I too am in the process of being banded. The only advice I can give is when they call you after the seminar, and you go in to meet Barb, get the stuff on the list done ASAP. Tests ect. that she may send you for.

I also saw Dr. Lelito. My cost was only $15 too. Your insurance must not cover him.

I had to wait two months after my first appt to get an appt with Dr. Hoffman. I met him at an earlier appt however. He is truly a compassionate dr.

What happens when you get the flu and throw up. I know its gross but how does it feel? Does it hurt? My husband and I are both being banded and he asked me to ask the forum this question. Thank you

Hi I am currently waiting to have my band. I read the book weight loss for dummies but it didn't contain much about the lap band. I found the book Weight loss surgery with the Adjustable Gastric Band by Robert Sewell I found it helpful. It is a new release so the information is upto date. I hope this will help you on your journey also. Good Luck
