    signs of slippage

I am not sure if I have a problem or not but wanted to know how you tell if your band slips? The other day I tried to eat a Healthy Choice chicken and rice meal which made me very sick. I threw it up then and even one hour later threw up more. Since then, almost everything I eat has been a little hard to get down. I really don't think I slipped my band but wanted to know what the signs and symptoms are if it ever happened. Thanks...

To fill or not to fill??

I am losing very sloooooooowly. I have lost approx. 40 pounds total but in the past few months I have only lost 6 pounds of that 40. There are times I am hungrier than others. I have mostly head hunger rather than stomach hunger. I thought if I had a very small fill, maybe that would help. I have talked to someone that had the lapband and she said there is no way she could eat bread, hamburgers, french fries. I normally don't eat these kind of things anyway, but I did try it one day. This may be a not so smart thing to do, but I thought if the band were tighter and it made me sick to eat these kind of things, I wouldn't attempt to try it again.
  3. Hi everyone, I'm not sure if I need a fill at my next appointment next month. I've had 2 fills so far. There are times I pb especially when I eat meat or breads. I really have problems when I eat too fast or don't chew well. My question is, do i need another fill? Tonight, I ate a regular BLT with regular bread without any problems. I also have eaten birthday cake. I can eat a Wendy's hamburger and french fries but not a home cooked hamburger. Other times I have problems with foods that I didn't think would cause problems. I have lost about 40 pounds but it is slowing down now. I want to kick start my weight loss again and would like to get another fill but am afraid that I might PB all the time. For a while, I did alot of that. Please give me any advice you can. Thanks, KD

    stinky question

This is a little personal, but I have a question....Does anyone have excessive gas since surgery?? Since I was banded in January, it has really gotten worse. I chew gas tablets which seem to help but didn't know if this was related to the band. :paranoid
  5. I was banded on 1/3/06 and have lost about 20 pounds. Most of that was lost in the first 2 months after being very sick after surgery. I had one fill in Feb. Was scheduled again 2 weeks ago and wasn't able to make it to my appt. (My doctor will only do fills once a month and only on one particular afternoon.) If you can't make that date, you have to wait another 4-6 weeks. Anyway, I feel like I can eat like I always have. The only difference is that I have PB's when I eat too fast or don't chew well. I am going for my next fill in a few weeks. Will the fill help me to stay fuller longer? Or will I just have a harder time getting my food down? That's all its doing for me now. I read about all of the success stories and it makes me feel like a failure once again with this weight loss battle. I wonder if maybe I should have had gastric bypass surgery instead.

    Do I need a fill?

Hi, I was banded on 1/3/06. I've had one fill since then. After the fill, I have had several PB's but because I tried to eat too quickly and it was always when I ate meat in large pieces. Other than that, I can eat the same amount of food as I did before surgery if I would let myself. I have lost about 23 pounds but none recently. I have been exercising 5 days a week too. I am scheduled for a fill on 4/5/06. Do you think I need it? Is the goal of the fill to make you so that you get full quicker? I want to feel full with less food without PB's. Thanks, Kim
  7. I just had my first fill this morning. My surgery was on 1/3/06. Before the fill, I could eat almost anything without any problem. On the way home from the doctor, I got a hamburger. I threw up part of it. I was very hungry and ate the first few bites without chewing very well. I then got the rest down slowly. This afternoon, I tried to eat a sliced, skinned apple....threw it up too. Is this normal? Does it ease up after a few days? Could I possibly have enough restriction with only one fill? Has anyone gotten enough restriction with just one fill? Please help...
  8. Hello, I was banded 6 weeks ago. Has anyone ever been told not to lift anything very heavy? I am concerned the band might slip if you lift anything real heavy. Yesterday, I lifted a very heavy box of paper. After I lifted it, I had a slight discomfor in my stomach area. I was so afraid I might have hurt myself. I am fine today though. How do you know if your band slips?

    not losing

Hi, I am now one month post banding. I lost 15 pounds during the liquid stage along with being sick. Since then, I have not eaten over 1200 calories per day. I usually have only 1000 per day. The scales are really not moving. One day I may lose a pound and then the next day, I gain it back. This has been going on for the past 2 weeks since off liquids. I go back to the doctor on 2/10/06 and hope he will give me a fill. Do you think this will help? I have noticed many people on this site losing 10 plus pounds every month. I don't want to be a failure. I was so excited the first few weeks. Thanks:(

    worried

Hi, I got my band on 1/3/06. I ended up staying in the hospital for a week after getting pneumonia and diverticulitis. Even afer going home, I was really sick for a few weeks. I quickly lost 15 pounds the first few weeks since I couldn't eat much of anything with the diverticulitis. Now that I'm better, my appetite is back!! At first, I could not eat much but now I feel like I could eat like I did before the band. I don't get hungry but feel like I can hold just as much. I haven't had any problems keeping my food down either. I am worried that I won't lose anymore. The scales are not moving now. I am eating mushy foods but they aren't real low calorie foods. Does anyone have any advice?:help:

    sugar free?

During the liquid stage, do you have to have everything sugar free? I like carnation instant breakfast but have not tried the sugar free type. It seems everything allowed has to be sugar free. Is that because of the calories so something else? Thanks, KD
  12. Hi. Does anyone know Dr. Steeley in Clarksville, TN? If so, what is your opinion and how did things go for you and your surgery? Thanks

    questions/concerns

Hi. I will be having the Lap-Band placed on 1/3/06. I am so excited but anxious too. I have failed at all attempts to either lose or keep off what little weight I did lose in the past. I am worried that I might be a failure again. Did anyone ever feel this way and if so, how does this compare to your dieting experiences in the past? I am also concerned about hunger and the sinking feeling I get if I go too long before eating. I am a fairly new diabetic and when I get hungry, I get shaky and feel like I may pass out. Do you still feel like that with the lapband? Thanks

    pb

I keep reading about people having pb's. What does that stand for? Thanks.......
  16. Hi! I have been checking out the info. on this site and have found it very inspirational. I am scheduled for the lap band 1/3/06. Can't wait!!!!! How much weight do you generally lose each month? Does your starting weight make a difference in how fast you lose? In other words, is it true that the smaller you are, the slower you will lose? Thank you.
