I was last filled 3 months ago. about 2 weeks ago I started getting "irritated", i.e. more frequent sliming and burping up of almost anything I ate. I kept trying to eat small amounts and some went down, some came up. Eventually I got to the point where everything I tried to eat slimed up after about 3 bites. Then liquids started sliming up and I got worried. Dr. said 3 days of clear liquids, prilosec 2xday. It;s day 4 now and I tried a sip of protein shake this morning which was followed by half an hour of burping and sliming. Also feels like I have a knot in my chest, about half way down my esophogus. When I push on it gently, I burp. It feels like something's stuck there. Anybody else having or had this lovely experience? I'm getting hungry! At least i can get and keep clear liquid down.

P.s. more on this swollen condition: I also burp up a lot of white foam when i'm past the sliming phase. What is this?

i was banded feb 26 and am also hungry! i was on clear juices for the first week and supposed to add clear broths for week 2 and then pureed (can pass thru a straw) foods for week 3. I found a little relief with protein shakes and campbells tomatoes soup with a little parmesan and cottage cheese added. Don't know if this is just "head" hunger. I'm struggling with the desire to eat for comfort. My doctor won't fill for 6 - 8 weeks so that swelling will be all gone. Good luck to you. Hopefully the fill will make this easier for us . .....

i'm curious about the type band people are getting in mexico. I hear there are some great ones used that aren't fda approved here. wondered if anyone had one of these, like french midband? If so do you get your fills in the u.s. ? I'm thinking of returning to the Dr. in Mexico but worry about things like emergencies (???) I know that in a true medical emergency and doctor could remove the band, which is somewhat comforting.

donholl1, congratulations on 57 lbs. lost in under 7 months. and you got the inamed band. Have you had any trouble getting it filled? Do you get it done in the u.s. or go back to mexico? If in the u.s., do you think it was possible mainly because you used a us approved band, inamed? Which part of the country are you in. I'm in St. Louis, MO. I'm 205 lbs now and getting banded on Feb 26. would love to chat with you about your success. Did you have to have the inamed band stitched in place to your stomach? Any discomfort at stitches? So far your story inspires me AND I AM NERVOUS. Appreciate any reply, Lisa717

I'm getting banded in mexico on Feb 26. Supposed to be on a totally non fat diet, mostly yoghurt, grilled chicken, fish and veggies for 2 weeks prior. So nervous that I keep cheating and putting the fat free diet off til "tomorrow." I'm hoping that because my BMI isn't so very high that my liver won't be too slippery and fatty (this is the reason I'm told for the pre-op diet.) Any one else failing at such an early stage? I now have only 10 pre-surgery days left.

kirajh, you said you have a 10 cc band. Is it the mid band? I'm curious because that's what I'm thinking of getting, also in Mexico, but am concerned about finding Dr.s in the US to fill it. Do you get yours filled in mexico or at home?
