  1. Don't beat yourself up too bad. I did the same thing. My band date is March 4 also so , SSDown, we are right there together. But back to the eating everying I could think of. I was thinking...."this may be the last time I ever get to eat _ _ _ _"(fill in the blank). I did that with cheesefries from Outback (mmmm my fave), spicy chicken pasta, margaritas, steak, cheese sticks from Pizza Hut - I can't even think of all the things I had two weeks ago. Amazingly I didn't gain any weight those 2 weeks - didn't lose any but didn't gain any. I'm on a low carb - high protien diet for 5 days then starting this Thursday I'm on a liquid diet for 5 days till surgery date. I've already lost 5 lbs just being on the low-carb. That is great inspiration for me to stay on track now. I've been drinking all the water required and possibly more. I'm trying to do right. So Sassy, don't worry too bad. I believe you'll get over this stage fast. It's something most all of us went through. Have faith in yourself. We are here for you !
  2. Hey Nana. My surgery date is the same as yours. I start the low carb diet tomorrow (Friday) then the liquid diet next Wednesday. I'm scared and excited all at the same time also. This site is a GREAT source of information. I'm so glad we have it to lean on. Good luck with your surgery. Sheri

    Lap Band vs RNY

I was given the option of picking which surgery I wanted also, my insurance approved either one. But I'm choosing LapBand (My surgery date is March 4th.) The thought of my guts being rearranged and rerouted and the possibility of the staples leaking just scared me for RNY. I've asked everyone I know that's had WLS, why they chose the surgery they did and the ones that picked RNY mostly said they wanted to see fast results. Well that's all and good but I look at it this way - I didn't put all this weight on in 6 months so therefore I don't expect for it all (or most) to come off in 6 months. If I can lose 10 lbs a month, maybe a little more, and do it healthy, then that's the way I want to go. Also - and this is just my opinion, if you lose the weight that fast (like with RNY), the chance of loose skin is more possible. Losing at a little slower rate and exercising will hopefully help with that. Now that's not to say I or anyone else having LapBand won't have to get skin removed in 2 years or more, but it just seems less of a problem with LapBand. - Again, this is just my 2 cents worth.
  4. I'm right there with ya'll. I started my journey in November and was insurance approved in January. My surgery date is March 4th. I'm nervous and excited also. A guy on here by the name of Glenn gave me some pretty good advise, he is 10 day's post-op. He said to stay away from the complication sites on here till 1 week after surgery. You'll scare yourself silly reading some of the posts. I've come to find out very, very few have complications after surgery. Just be sure to follow the Dr. instructions carefully and all should be well. My biggest problem right now is thinking about all the different kinds of food I won't be able to have for a long while (possibly never). I've got this mind set right now of eating these different things because it may be my last. I know it's not a good way to start off surgery (because they want you to lose a little before surgery). So far I've lost 3 lbs in the past two weeks, so I guess I'm not sabotaging myself too bad...lol I start the low carb diet next weekend that lasts for a week then the liquid diet for 5 days before surgery, that is required by my Dr. Good bye to good food for a while !
  5. Thanks for the well wishes from everyone. Also I appreciate the great advice, Glenn. It sounds as if you know what your talking about and it all makes perfect sence.
