drinking through a straw
Donnainva replied to volleymom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I usually drink without a straw but have no desire to drink at a restaurant without one. I've had 4 fills and haven't had any problems drinking with a straw. -
Husband doesn't understand why I will be in pain!!

Is vomiting really that bad???
Donnainva replied to lipstix64's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My suggesting would be to just focus on chewing. If you chew very very well, you can't take any more bites (since you are chewing) and if the bite is too big it really doesn't matter since you are chewing the shit out of it. I still take large bites but I chew like a crazy woman. I was banded 2/14 and have never thrown up. -
How much info did your Dr give you?
Donnainva replied to elgrad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also got a lot of information from my surgeons practice. Started off with the first seminar (is surgery right for you etc) a mandatory 4 hour class with an RN and a nutritionist. We got a large folder at that last class with a ton of information, lots of food suggestions, what to do if this happens, what to expect etc. I was also sent vdieos to my email at different times durring the process. The same nutritionist sat with me for about 1/2 hour before I went home after surgery and answered all my questions, I also have her email address. Commonwealth Surgeons Richmond VA I agree with the original poster, there do seem to be a lot of people who aren't getting basic information out there. -
Can't control the hunger
Donnainva replied to mrsaxlrose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wont rip you and I know many others have done something they shouldn't have right after surgery. Since you recognize a real problem with food and the band isn't going to make that relationship any better, maybe you could consider seeing a counselor. Ask your surgeons office for some names, I'm certain you aren't the first. Be honest with your surgeon and they will be able to help you. PS---please tell Axl to get rid of the cornrows--thx! Sincerely, Mrs. Dave Grohl! -

I really wanted that chinese food
Donnainva replied to fatgirlinNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had a burger (a 1/4 of one at a time) I have General Tso's leftovers in the fridge and I've had a piece of pizza. I don't eat like this every day, but I don't deny myself food I like either. This is for the rest of my life, I'm not going to make any food completly off limits. 85% of the time I make good choices. I didn't have this surgery to make my life miserable, just to have more control. -
What to take to the hospital
Donnainva replied to UpperWestSide's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had electronic compresses on my calves the whole time I was in the bed in the hospital they really fear blood clots -
What to take to the hospital
Donnainva replied to UpperWestSide's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had no problem getting that gas out of my body after the surgery---came out same as always! Walking really helped me with the gas that they put in me. -
How long before you went back to work/school?

How long before you went back to work/school?
Donnainva replied to sarae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They had me out of the bed and walking around the hospital floor about 4 hours after the surgery. I was walking all over the house, up & down the stairs the next day. Walking totally helped--lessen the risk of blood clots and you don't "feel" sick since you aren't spending the whole time sitting or laying down. I was folding and sorting laundry that weekend--didn't want to just sit around. -

How long before you went back to work/school?
Donnainva replied to sarae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally I would try & give yourself at least another two day, but thats just me. You are half my age so you've got a lot more energy:smile: edit to say--perhaps I'll actually answer your question! My surgery was on a Thursday and I went back to work (desk job also) the Monday a week later--so I had 12 days altogether-with weekends I am also a wimp -

How much was your first fill??
Donnainva replied to TeganRheana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
5cc's for me also -
Does your Dr do an upper GI at every fill
Donnainva replied to fatgirlinNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
that was my point as well. My insurance pays for 4 fills the first year and I have to pay cash for any after that. -
Does your Dr do an upper GI at every fill
Donnainva replied to fatgirlinNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My first fill was done under Fluroscopy, but every fill since then was just done by the PA in the office. If there is not a question about if my band is slipping, too tight etc, then I don't see a reason to spend the extra money I could tell where everything was located on the fluroscopy by looking at my underwire bra!! -
Looking for honesty here...
Donnainva replied to elgrad's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, the original poster is stating that they read on here where people are 2 weeks out and only lost 15 pounds and are complaining about such a "small" amount of weight loss. In the second paragraph she states that she's not banded yet -
Good Bye Terrible Two's.... Hello ONEderland!!!

Congrats!!! I visited Onederland on Wednesday and Friday and hope to be living there by next weekend :tongue_smilie: -
Anyone else out there OK with losing slowly with an unfilled or small filled band?
Donnainva replied to coloradobanding's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a conversation with my NP during my last fill that sounded just like this! (The needle was sticking out of my stomach at the time :tongue_smilie: ) I told her about how many people I see on here that type just what you see. I also told her that if I ever have more then one episode of getting stuck/throwing up etc that can't be explained by my own stupidity--I'm coming in to get an unfill. I lost 5 lbs in the six weeks between my last two fills but guess what, the scale is going in the right direction! -
I'll start since it was my idea My number is 31 That would be the number of pounds I've lost the next poster will type the number of pounds they've lost and then add the them together. and so on  Pounds only, lets not muddy the Water with that silly metric system--Online Conversion - Common Weight and Mass Conversions You can convert on that web site Now GO!
