Anyone notice Post Banders are a bit snobbish?
Donnainva replied to El Diablo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Bamagal, I think you really should chew your food more. and I think pb is a really stupid abbreviation -
I got a 5cc fill last Tuesday and I really can't tell any difference. I'm not hungry like I was before the surgery but I still open the fridge in between meals. Luckily the only things I have to snack on are s/f Popsicles and string cheese! They said I could have another fill in approx 4 weeks, I'm making the appointment tomorrow.

No, http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f84/dr-consult-87843/--this is the person I was referring to. His response to her was something I may have said. She needs a drink. -

I've showed my husband the suggested recipes and all the handouts from the surgeons office. He knows that I can eat pretty much whatever I want but that it doesn't make any sense to go through with all of this and eat Wendy's Frosty's all day long. As far as co-workers -- some know and some don't, but it's not a secret. I don't live near my family but if one of my brothers started giving me shit about it (please bear in mind I'm not a particularly strong person) I would say "It's not funny, it's not nice and please stop." end of conversation. -

problems urinating after surgery????
Donnainva replied to wintobethin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Apparently, the only thing most people need to go is the threat of a catheter! I was catheterized during surgery--do any of you know if you were? -
St. Mary's?
-
I had one in me (Called the OnQ system I believe) It wasn't put in right, was too far over & didn't numb the area. So basically it was just a ball attached to a catheter in my skin that I had to carry around in the hospital-along with all the other wires and such-and have to worry about dropping. They took it out right before I left to go home, but when it's in correctly, you (the patient) take it out at home. When they took it out it took about 1/2 second and it didn't hurt when she did it at all. I wish I could say the same about when I took the band-aid off. I didn't get any Morphine while I was in the hospital as they thought this thing was working correctly. Never having had surgery before, I though the pain was normal. It sucked and the Vicodin I went home with didn't really help much. I've not had any problem taking pills since the surgery either. Don't know how normal that is.

I've been aware of dan2001xj for about a 1/2 hour now. He's messing around! It's a joke, something to post because he wanted a rise out of people. I shall quote the wonderful Joker "Why so Serious?" I voted for the last option:thumbup: (I really hate smilies but I had to post something!) -

Donnainva replied to El Diablo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
dan2001xj, as long as you chew properly, take small bites and eat all your Protein you really shouldn't have any issues with us. Oh wait.. I've been banded. *runs away* *ok actually walks away kinda quickly* -
Dry Roasted Edamame
Donnainva replied to mlafentres's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They put those on the table at a restaurant here--much like they put chips on the table at a Mexican place. They are put a sprinkle of sea salt on them. they are good! -

Anesthesia- Dry heaving or puking?
Donnainva replied to wuan2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Possibly Phenergan (generic name promethazine) I'd never been under before and had no idea how I'd react, thank goodness I didn't have any problems. Def tell them about your history and emphasis you do not want to be throwing up after this surgery! -
what does 1/2 cup of food look like on a plate
Donnainva replied to Just Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this is going to look like a smart ass answer, but it's not. I measure 1/2 cup of what I'm eating-so it looks like 1/2 cup of food. -
I was banded on 1/14 and had my fill about an hour ago. Basically the same as what Maureen said except no pain except the sting of a needle going into my skin. My port is about 1/2" above my largest incision under my left breast. The barium tasted horrible, but I watched the whole thing on the screen. I'm on liquids for 12-24 hours, then a day of mushy then back to normal. 5cc's in a 10cc band (I think)
-
With a saline drip in me (no morphine) I had to pee as soon as they finally found a room for me.
-
I was banded 1/14 and my first fill is today--not quite four weeks.
-
they must let you sleep in the hospitals down under! If I got some sleep spending one night wouldn't have been so bad but I was in a room with two men, both snoring and didn't get a wink! Hope the fires are far away from you:smile2:

Question about pre Lap band
Donnainva replied to eyesforthelord's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every single surgeon is different. Every single one. If you get 12 responses, you will get 12 different diets. They seem to run along the ideas of all liquid protein or mostly liquid and one small meal (mainly protein) I'm a really not trying to be difficult but ask your surgeons office of they have a handout or suggestions. I went to a few pro-op classes and they had folders of ideas. Good Luck! -
I was banded on January 14th and am on a regular diet. I'll have a Carnation instant breakfast (with dry milk for extra protein) for breakfast. Tuna salad or chicken salad for lunch, yogurt or string cheese for a snack and a chicken breast or turkey for dinner with a small salad & a small carb if I'm still hungry. My first fill is scheduled for the 17th of this month and I am really looking forward to that!

January bandsters our time is coming!!!
Donnainva replied to KawasakiChick's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on the 14th of January--I may get a fill next Tuesday (the 10th) but the NP said they are booked up that day, so I'll probably have to wait till the 17th. I'm on a full diet (meats, raw veggies etc) and not had anything get stuck and--even with getting the protein in first, sometimes thats all I have for a meal--I'm still hungry 2 hours later. Not drinking with meals. the NP said there isn't really any restriction at all at this point, and don't I know it! I'm losing very slowly but I'd be happy just to not be so hungry.
