Help! Old Habits Returning!!
Donnainva replied to Miriam's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
*jumps in the boat with the rest of you* I was banded 1/14, had two fills and have another scheduled for day after tomorrow (Monday) I think I have about 6cc's or so as of today. I've been able to stick with fairly healthy choices but my portions are going up also. Not drinking when eating but I'm doing a lot more healthyish snacking too. I've not gotten anything stuck, never even had any feeling of being stuck (OR feeling full for that matter) What the hell people?? This will-power shit is starting to run out. -

I've not been diagnosed with IBS but I've been taking an imodium every day for over a year for that same problem, I told my surgeon and he was okay with me continuing that -
If you are having trouble imagining what 4oz looks like (at a restaurant and can't measure, too lazy to measure etc) just picture a common urine sample cup! they are almost exactly 4oz (within a few ml) It was a trick that my surgeon showed me--sticks in my head for sure Bet I got your attention with the thread title

Pill-Popping Lap Banders?
Donnainva replied to MariasWish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here, no problem taking any pills. My surgeon said to try & keep pills smaller then an M&M but I've taken pills larger then that with no problem -
When did you go home after surgery?
Donnainva replied to JWL08's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My insurance required an overnight stay, I was very ready to go home the same day & would've felt much much better at home. -
list of food you can't eat post-op??
Donnainva replied to StephOnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Camarones al Mojo de Ajois (shrimp with garlic) one of my favorite meals and I just eat very little rice and all of the shrimp. I sure hope I can eat this after another restriction! Yeah, I guess soda and junk food are the only two things I've stayed away from completly. Just don't think about them anymore. -

Donnainva replied to StephOnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had one fill and don't have much restriction. I've tried quite a lot of foods and nothings disagreed with me yet. I'm glad I can eat cheese sticks--I usually have a piece of string cheese for my midmorning snack. I haven't tried hamburger or ground beef at all yet, we'll see how that goes. -
Hospitals -v- Surgery Centers
Donnainva replied to CarmenPonce's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was also in a hospital and my insurance required an overnight stay (WTF?) The only other health issue I have is high blood pressure and I would've been more then happy to go home about 7 hours after surgery. If they could've changed it to that with maybe a follow up 3 or so days after surgery that would've been great. I was at my wits end with no rest at all for the entire time I was in there, in a room with two men not a minutes peace. I slept for 9 hours as soon as I got home. -
Second fill coming up Monday or Tuesday---I think I have 5cc's in there now, I'm hoping for at least 2 more.

Regular water vs. crystal light
Donnainva replied to mjg12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I bought a really cool water from Kroger (I'm sure it's available at other stores) called Ty Nant--it's Welsh. Good water, but the bottle is very cool looking. I keep refilling it. Makes me look all cool and rich and what not! -

Sugar Free Drink Mixes Ocean Spray has some s/f drink mixes and they are really really good! they do have aspartame. I've had to give up soda, beer-alcohol period. I think I'll have a few. -
first fill, little restriction
Donnainva replied to emmers1126's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had 5cc's put in on the 9th--about 4 weeks post op, also not really any restriction. I've got an appointment for March 9th and I'm hoping for something. I think it's pretty common Emily--we all just need to hang in there--sucks, but I guess it'll come with time -
Anyone notice Post Banders are a bit snobbish?
Donnainva replied to El Diablo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
FUNYUNS onion ring snack--Hey!! from the looks of the Frito-Lay website, they are Kosher! They really make your breath stink too -

Donnainva replied to El Diablo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If we can substitute Funyuns for Cheetos, I'm on board! -
I also had my fill done with the help of a floroscope--She had me drink the barium liquid (nasty) and mine was done standing up, she put the needle in and put 5cc's in the band, had me drink more and I was done. I could watch as I was drinking and watched to see how much restriction I had.

Okay...so, i have a question about pills...
Donnainva replied to NeedaChange4good's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
personally, I take all three at once. But thats' me! You see it everywhere on this board--Everyone Is Different! Some people have problems with tiny pills, I can take anything (I've only had one fill-so maybe that will change) I had to skip my blood pressure pills for a few days right before surgery--check with your surgeon -
Okay...so, i have a question about pills...
Donnainva replied to NeedaChange4good's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All the pills I take are about the size of bc pills, maybe a tad bigger--I've had no problem taking any pills at all. My surgeon said nothing bigger then an M&M. Check with yours at the pre-op testing -
Do you get sick of other people.......

Do you get sick of other people.......
Donnainva replied to lacasst's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Until I started reading this board, I had no idea how many people "PB" and get food stuck. They could be thinking of that. Part of the weight loss process is also feeling better about yourself. I don't care if it's your mother or your co-worker, tell them you can watch your own diet thank you very much. -

Gorton's, Trusted Since 1849 Gorton's Salmon Filets--^that's a link to their website w/nutritional info, I can't make my link correctly and it's doing my head in. It's in the freezer section and is very simple to make. -
Liquid Lortab (or however you spell it)
Donnainva replied to Vala's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had Vicodin--didn't have any problem with pills. Also, what he said ^ you're not exactly drug seeking, you just had surgery! If it's keeping you from being comfortable, call them! So many people (not on this board, I mean in general) think that pain just comes with the price of being alive & just put up with it. See if they can help you with something else. For those that have had a fill---could you take pills but after being filled once or twice, you can't anymore?? One fill and still no problems with pills. I hope that doesn't change. -
What was your recovery time?
Donnainva replied to mynewlife09's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
what babbs said--I also have a desk job. had the surgery on a Wednesday and didn't go back until the following Monday. I didn't need all those days off but I was glad I took them. I honestly thought I'd go back the next Monday (5 days after surgery) glad I didn't -
