Due to the economy I stopped most of my baking and gift giving, I sent cards with notes. One branch of my family is having a "Yankee Swap" everyone brings something, less than $10 and we open them and swap them with the person before us if we want their gift. It's a lot of fun and can be totally hilarious. We then eat (I'm making a healthy Greek Pasta salad). It's this Sunday afternoon. I hope we don't get too much snow, we have a big storm tomorrow and I had a "Red Hat Christmas party" to go too, and got word they canceled it and will have it on the 26th instead. So I don't have any temptations around the house. I am going to make a healthy dinner Christmas day for the family. A nice rib roast, and lots of veggies. Just hang in there and not eat the goodies. You will be so proud of yourselves when you lose a pound or two and not gain any.

Wow Congratulations that is wonderful. You are almost there bet you feel great. It's a long road but worth it.

I lost another 2 pounds this week, after being at 177.2 for two weeks. I hate when I hit a plateau. I had a fill also on Thursday so that did help jump start me again. Hope to make my 170 goal by New Years. I have two Christmas parties so I will make sure I am very careful what I eat. That will leave only 40 lbs to lose next year...by August. I am taking it one day at a time.

Wow got up this morning and I lost 2 pounds. I finally broke my plateau. I am so happy. So very close to my goal weight for January 1, 2009 of 170. Feeling good too.

Friday Morning Weigh In - 12 December 2008
Shamrockgirl60 replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey everyone is doing great. We are all almost half way to goal. Feeling good after that third fill. liquid for a few days. I am craving salads isn't that funny. I always love them and trying new ones. I got some baby spinich, and some crumbled blue cheese, some whole walnuts and dried cranberries. I also got some nice no calorie dressing, by Waldon Farms. Balsamic vinagarette. It's really good with a little added Splenda for sweetness. That will be my dinner tomorrow I think. I could live on salads. -
Well a bit over 52 lbs. since August 7th. I am just over halfway there. Hope to be goal weight by the summer. Congratulations to everyone for doing so well.....we rock!!!!

I am now officially overweight and not obese.
Shamrockgirl60 replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey congratulations. I have a point or so to go before I am "overweight" and not obese. I feel great. Had a fill yesterday and the nurse is so very pleased with how I am doing. I did not lose as much as I wanted last month but she said the loss can slow down a bit after a few months. She wants a 1-2 lb. loss per week. That's fine with me. Funny I notice that people look at me now...and I get much faster help in the stores. LOLLOLLOL I am not ignored any more. -
LOL on the NSV. My size 14 petite jeans I boughtr 3 weeks ago are getting big on the legs. So.....hoping by New Year I can get some 12's or 11's. I won't go shopping till I hit 170 then see what fits. Hope to be that by New Years. I am still wearing tops and they are big. So glad that's the style still. I have lots of those baby doll empire tops and now they fit so much better. I can wear them for a few more months. I want to get through the winter before I buy anything more than new jeans. Although there is a sweater at Coldwater Creek I have my eye on....hope it goes on sale after the holidays. It's a bit pricy. LOL

Friday Morning Weigh In - 12 December 2008
Shamrockgirl60 replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my 3rd fill and lost almost 3 lbs. I did eat a bit too much this week so the past month I didn't lose as much as I thought. I hope I can make my New Years goal of 170. I think I can. I still have 2 Christmas parties to go too....but I will be good. I promise. At least I am halfway to my goal weight of 130. So I hope to hit that by June or July. I know the last 20 lbs. or so are the hardest to get off. My fill was yesterday and despite my less than stellar weight loss the past month my Nurse/Practitioner was pleased, she told me most of the patients gain a pound or two during the weeks around Thanksgiving. It's expected. So I am back on track. Pssst...went to a Christmas party and ate just some chowder/salad...but....had a piece of cheesecake. It was yummy and went down nicely LOL. My first real dessert in 5 months. My last for the year. -

I also was a Diet Coke addict. Your drinking carbonated drinks now after the band. That is a big no no. Were you told to not drink them. They can cause problems with the band. Stop immediately. And talk to your doctor or nurse practitioner. You should check on getting a fill or two if you have not gotten them. Stop the DC now...... -
100 Calorie snacks... Friend or Foe??
Shamrockgirl60 replied to blueyedprincess's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey nothing wrong with them as far as I am concerned. We need snacks. I have either a fat/sugar free container of pudding with small spoonful of a new low fat/no sugar whipped topping. Or one bar of Bryers sugar free low fat chocolate covered ice cream. Yummy. It gets me through the day of eating good healthy foods. Keeps me from eating the bad stuff. -
Friday Morning Weigh in - 5th December 2008
Shamrockgirl60 replied to lellow's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I gained a pound after Turkey Day....eating leftovers. So this week I was pretty good lost that pound. Back on track with food and excercise this week. Hope to be 176 or 175 by next Friday. My goal was 170 by New Year's and I should make it. It's hard during the holidays to get that exercise in. Today and this weekend getting all the Christmas in house decorations up and the tree. Hope everyone had a good week. -
Hey things happen half a pound is not that much. I gained a pound last week and hope that I have that is gone by tomorrow morning. I know every day I have to watch what I eat. Keep the head hunger away. It's a daily struggle still but worth it. Next week I get my 3rd fill. And I hope I get some good restriction.

Hey it's only a month for you WBS. Call for a fill and follow all the doctors and your nutritionists advise. The band is a tool not a miracle. You get out of it what you put into it. -

Nettie you are doing fine, how many fills have you had. I was at a plateau and had my first and second fill, now going for my third one next week. As you lose the band becomes loose and you can eat more. Best to check and have a fill or make appointment for one when the plateau starts. I am at one now..I actually gained 1 lb. for last week's Thanksgiving dinner. Been trying all week to shed that pound and one more. No such luck. Hope to see it gone by tomorrow morning. Don't be discouraged. My doctor and NP want me to lose between 8 and 10 lbs. a month. They are quite happy with that. -

Well I became "whey" intolerant after the surgery, had to switch to soy based Protein drink. Never had a problem before the surgery, something just didn't mix with my band. Now when I get a fill I just have the Edge Advantage, chocolate soy Protein Drink. With a shot or two of Hershey's Chocolate sugar free syrup and some ice in a blender it's yummy.

I tossed most of the leftovers. I took the two turkeys I cooked and stripped all the left over meat. Packaged it. took the carcasses and broke them up. I added onions, carrots and herbs and celery and some small amount of left over gravy. No fat gravy that I made and made a rich stock. It's out on the porch...cold tonight will de-fat it and strain it and then make a nice rich turkey soup with lots of veggies, small amount of little pasta things for soup. Will freeze some and give some away. I love my turkey soup.

Some spanx are very expensive. I wonder if anyone has purchased the ones on TV, I have seen two different kinds both look good and are not too expensive.

I admit I went a bit over the top the past few days. No where near what I would have eaten before the surgery. So back on a real restricted diet and Protein drinks for a few days to get the old body back to what I was. I gained a pound over the weekend. One fill before Christmas on December 11th. So at least 48 hours on liquids then. I hope to be 170 by New Years day. I won't add the pound on now, I'll wait for my Friday weigh in to see what happens. LOL I won't keep any real sweets in the house. And on Christmas cook a nice healthy meal. Good roast, with lots of veggies and salad. I was at a craft fair, and this couple was selling home made diet hot chocolate drinks, a powder. Made with Splenda. I had a sample of the Chocolate/Peanut Butter Cup - Hot chocolate, so yummy tasted like a melted Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. Only 30 calories a cup and it sure satisfied my chocolate urge. LOL
