I started eating cereal the past few weeks. When I am totally starving I have a small bowl of Cheerios with skim milk and splenda. It fills me up and if I eat it slowly and chew, chew, chew it's very satisfying. I also love oatmeal in the winter. I watch my carbs and don't eat bread, except for whole wheat, flax seed pita and then only two or three times a week with my lunch Protein. So far it does not get stuck if I eat slowly and chew.

A Different Sort of Question
Shamrockgirl60 replied to salome000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey I can understand. Fat is a way to be invisible. I don't like being that way. I was always friendly and fun to be with. I still am. Even with the modest weight loss now I am looking at myself more. I am also older (60) so the guys aren't going to check me out. Maybe a few old men are LOL. I was thin for many years from my youth to my early 30's. I loved it. Shopping was the bomb as they say. I was cute, blond and petite. I was adorable LOL. Now I'm still blond, still somewhat cute, in an old lady way, and well I just can't stand myself fat. Now I move faster, have more energy and feel 10 years younger. I am happy. Hubby is proud and so is my tall skinny daughter. LOL I an play all day with my 5 month old granddaughter and not be totally exhausted afterwords. I have a Shrink and completed 3 years of therapy before starting this journey. It sure helps to have counseling I recommend it hightly. -
Yikes a 38 inch waist is wonderful congratulations. I am just going one day at a time. It's how you feel that is the most important thing. I can now climb stairs at a good clip and no two feet on each stairs either. LOL We will all be in so much better shape by next August we will be so happy....I'm sure of it.

August Banders - What are you eating?
Shamrockgirl60 replied to mdhomeschool's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had my first fill Sept 19th. Had some restriction for a few days, now it seems I don't have much. I try not to overeat, don't want to mess the band up. But I do get hungry every 3-5 hours. I space my meals and snacks out so that I have something every 4 hours or so. Don't want to get ravenous and eat too much at one sitting. Looking forward to my 2nd fill and some real restriction. Guess it takes more than one fill to reach that "sweet spot". -
August Banders - What are you eating?
Shamrockgirl60 replied to mdhomeschool's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It changes daily. I eat my Cherrio's with skim milk and splenda. I chew and chew and chew. Don't use much milk and then when the Cereal is goine I save it for my coffee later. lunch is usually pita bread with chicken, tuna or turkey with a little lettuce and tomato slice rolled up. With diet mayo. Snack in afternoon a Protein shake dinner I have 3-4 oz of meat, some steamed soft veggies and a little bit of potato or rice. Maybe two small spoonfuls Snack before bed a container of sugar free fat free pudding or yogurt -
Congratulations, I have the same 8 oz. that come and go LOL. I am now only weighing my self on Fridays it's hard but I think that will help. It's a long slow process but every day gets better. Keep up the good work. I also feel so much "lighter" and fit into my skinny (size 18) jeans, some day I hope they will be my "fat jeans" LOL

How did you decide your goal weight?
Shamrockgirl60 replied to gingerbug's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I went with what I weighted when I was in my 20's and early 30's and added a few pounds. I would fee comfortable at 130 and 140 would be fine. But I am small boned so 130 is the best for me. I weighted between 110 and 120 at my younger years. -
Oh I can't wait to lose a few more lbs. and get some spanks.....they look so good on I bet. Smooth all those bumps and lumps and sags LOL.

distoritions of ourselves...
Shamrockgirl60 replied to blackcherry2002's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh I believe it my daughter is 5'11" and her weight was 130, it's now about 160 after having her baby, and she wants to lose about 20 lbs. and be 140. At 130 she was thin. She tried modeling for a while and they wanted her to get down to 115 she told them to go to hell...and quit. She would rather be healthy. I think she looks fine at 160 she has a bit of a pouchie but it's OK. She is losing slowly eating fairly healthy. Most models look sick. I hate seeing really really thin teenagers. But what I hate almost as much as that are the very obese ones. There has to be a nice happy medium. At my lowest weight when I was 24 I was 5'4" and 102 lbs. I look back and I looked awful. Way too thin, I would be in style now. I looked my best at 115 to 120 lbs. I hope to get down now to 130 at the lowest and would be happy at 140. It's a very sad world we are living in when little girls are so afraid of being fat. -

Hey I am 60 and got banded this August, it's never to late. And I applaud your going and doing this. The best of luck, it's a long strange journey but it's sure worth it. I feel so much better with just the small amount of weight I have lost. I can't wait till I am a nice normal weight and healthy. Hang it there it gets better. -
How do you get 60g of protein in a day?
Shamrockgirl60 replied to cynw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was allergic to the whey Protein after my surgery. I got AdvantEdge at Wal-Mart. It's inexpensive and good. Mix with skim milk, ice cubes 3 and I picked up Hershey's sugar free chocolate syrup. I use a good "shot" of the syrup 6 oz of skim milk and 3 ice cubes. Blend till ice is totally gone and it's nice and frothy and cold. Delish.......really I got plain soy protein at the Health food store, added that to my soup and it was good not taste at all. -
2 weeks post op, do I have a band??
Shamrockgirl60 replied to midwestchickie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel very little restriction after my first fill in September. I am more or less doing a real diet. So I won't gain weight before I find my "sweet spot" It depends on the food I eat also. chicken can be hard. I eat very small bites and slowly. Can't wait for my second fill. Hope by the end of October or early Nov. -
How do you get 60g of protein in a day?
Shamrockgirl60 replied to cynw's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be drinking 3 Protein shakes I get Soy Protein shake mix at wal-mart. 20 grams per drink to make 60 a day, then I had my Water and Jello and broth for the first two weeks then on to mushies. I am on regular food but I love to have a protein shake for Breakfast since I don't like to ear early in the morning. I have a small fat and sugar free yogurt with fruit for a snack around 10:00 am -

Pre-Op eating behaviors vs. Post-Op eating behaviors
Shamrockgirl60 replied to Lauren448's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Part of the reason the band works it that you are scared to death of eating the wrong thing and vomiting and messing the band up. It becomes second nature to not eat junk food. The band helps you do it since the consequences are not good. I eat healthy carbs. Whole wheat/flax seed pita bread. Whole wheat Pasta and brown rice. In very small amounts. I find they help the craving. As for sweets, I am a chocoholic. So every night I have a small container of sugar free/fat free chocolate pudding. I look forward to it. -
I just did my hair, added some blond highlights. A trip to a day spa for the "works" will be my splurge. I also want a new wardrobe. Maybe a trip I always wanted to go on a cruise but due to my weight didn't go. Maybe next summer I might.

Confessions of a Sugar Addict
Shamrockgirl60 replied to DesertRose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Gee I also am a sugar junkie and Type II diabetic to boot. I used to hide my stash of Reeses Peanut Butter cups and Milky Ways and Snickers in my underwear drawer. How awful is that. Been 4 months since I had a candy bar. Halloween will be hard, I won't buy candy till that day, and then half as much as normal, when it runs out it runs out. And I will buy candy I don't particularly like also so I won't be tempted. I also had a thing for Hot fudge sauce. Hey smuckers has a sugar free kind now that ins't bad. I put it in my Protein shakes. I still have one a day for Breakfast. I hate to eat early in the morning still.
