Are We ready for a Black President?

Well now that the election is over and Obama is the President Elect...boy I love typing that. Time to retire this thread. We should all take a deep breath and remember our country will survive and will prosper again. Obama has a very very hard job to bring us back after 8 years of hell. I think we should all give him a chance and pray he does well. Our country is worth it. God Bless the USA

Friday Morning Weigh In - 14 NOV 08

Boy I relate to you...I have 3-4 lbs. to go before my "success" and I have been losing and gaining the same two pounds this past week. As long as the scale keeps going down I am happy. Three months out from banding also... take care pati:thumbup::cool::thumbup:
  3. Hey I can sympathize I was banded in August and felt like s### for about a week, then slowly better, by week 3 I felt really good. Now 3 months out and almost half way to my goal..and am ecstatic and so glad I did this. A few days of feeling bad are so worth it. Just take it one day at a time and do use the pain meds. And get as much rest as you can. The liquid for 3 weeks will go by. Most of us all had to do that. Do exactly what the doctors and nurses say. Don't be temped to eat during this time. It's your stomach and port healing time. Good luck and believe me it will get better sooner than you think. Hey the pain was worth it when I bought new jeans last week and they were 14 Petite, have not worn that size in 20 plus years.

Foods I can no longer enjoy..

Since my second fill last week I am having problems with meat like steak and chicken without any sauce. So I got fat free gravy and add just a few spoonfuls and cut the meat up really really small and I can eat it. I don't have a problem with bread but I just don't eat it. Sometimes pita bread for a sandwich. I had two slime and frothing incidents since my second fill, scared the cr## out of me I must say. Being very very careful now. Next appt. and fill in December if I need it. I didn't lose this week, so I will be more careful what I eat this coming week.

height x weight = dress size?

I am 5'4" and wear a size 14-16 bottom and a 16-18 top. I am top heavy now. Just got jeans that are 14 petite. I have to lose more up top. I carry my weight from bust to hips, legs and arms much thinner than my middle. Sort of a apple shape I guess. When I was at my lowest weight in my 20's I was 105-110 and wore size 3-7. Depending on what style and brand of clothing. Now that's probably a 0 LOL I want to be in 10's or 8's by the time I finish this. Size won't matter if I am in normal sizes..not xxxx ones. I will be happy.

Friday Morning Weigh In - 14 NOV 08

I am basically the same as last week. I ate a bit too much this week and didn't lose. I will do better next week for sure. At least I didn't gain this week. Also have a slight cold don't know if that matters at all. Edited on Sat. morning at 5:41 AM got up weighted myself...LOL 182.8 almost a lb. LOL
  7. I am cooking a big meal for my husband, daughter and fiance, the baby and my Mother's best friend who still comes to Thanksgiving dinner even though Mom has been gone for 3 years. I won't have all the pies I used to have, most of my family likes cakes not pies. But I will have an apple pie. Turkey, Mom's famous stuffing, butternut squash, mashed potatoes, gravy (I got a new gravy separator to take out the fat). Baked yams, fresh peas and boiled onions, cranberry sauce, and whole cranberry sauce. Rolls and "light" butter. Oh fruit cup with serbert for the first course. I will have my 3 oz. of turkey breast. And a spoonful of everything else. Just a spoonful. One small roll, no butter And a tiny tiny piece of apple pie no ice cream on it. I will be good. I finally have some good restriction so I know I can't eat a lot.
  8. Lahey Clinic is the best, I would recommend them to anyone. Great program and the people are wonderful. They are so helpful and nice and not judgmental at all. Very straightforward with all the information you want.

Renewedhope is Headed for the Flatlands

Wow you look great. Hope your feeling better soon. I am debating getting a tummy tuck when I am down to goal weight. I shall see. Right now just trying to lose the next half of my weight and toning up. The celulite is kind of disgusting I look like a big old orange rind. LOL

    Restriction question

Geez I have no idea what size it is...I'll ask them. I know it was empty when they banded me and then had 1cc in Sept. and another one the 6th of November so I would guess 2 ccs now. Yes if's almost scary to eat isn't it...that's what makes it so easy not to overeat. I have problem with beef now, darn it. So chicken if steamed and soft is fine. I can eat Pasta and bread in small amounts so I don't eat much at all. Veggies no problem if I chew, chew, chew. Salads that have low or no cal dressing are fine in small amounts.

    Restriction question

I just got my 2nd fill and boy do I feel the restriction, had my first bought with "sliming" a lot the other day, never will eat too fast or too much again. It's disgusting and painful. I feel a slight full and tight feeling then now I know to STOP EATING IMMEDIATELY, before I get the pain and slime. This is the first real restriction I have felt sice the first few weeks after banding. I have another appointment December 11th....to check and see how it's going. Would love another fill before Christmas.

    Does anyone notice this?

I watched Dr. Oz on Oprah and well he said nothing can reduce the "celulite" it's something that happens when we get older. It's fat cells that blow up and cause the skin to pucker. They won't go away no matter what you do or try.
  13. Shamrockgirl60

are soups ok the first week?

Every doctor is different, I was told for the first week "clear" broths only, and Jello and Water. Campbell's "soup in hand" is good the tomato parm bisque is good. not really a lot of calories. And never every drink with a straw again.

    Does anyone notice this?

Ya I am losing in my legs, arms and torso...but my belly is shrinking not as fast as I would like now it's just a disgusting "thing" hanging down with fat and skin. Hoping it will tighten up a bit with exercise. Otherwise I will be wearing "Spanx" for life LOL My bottom half is two sizes smaller than my top half now. size 14 pants and 16-18 tops.

Post-op and NOW they said I shoulda had 6 mo diet

Whenever I deal with something similar...I always document it with the name of the person I talk with the title and write down everything they say and tell them I am doing it. I hope you did that. I hope they have written documentation at the hospital on this. Good luck I would be so po'd I would be spitting bullets by now.

    SLIME?? Anybody??

Hey I had a fill on Thursday, my second one. I was back on solids yesterday, made a big roast beef dinner for the family...got my plate. 3-4oz Protein and a few spoonfuls of the sides...I barely got 3 oz of the beed in and slimed...and got stuck, the worst since being banded in August. Stopped eating walked around and it felt better. I slimmed for the very very first time and don't want that ever again ugg...later on had some Sip a Soup and went to bed. Today will eat mushies. And try solids tomorrow slowly.
  17. Shamrockgirl60

    Air bubble in band. Significance?

I went for my second fill, they took all the Fluid out because it had a slight bit of blood in it, she said that happens she replaced it and added a cc more. I have really good restriction right now. Can only eat 4 to 8 oz. of food at a time. I know when I lose more weight to call and get another fill. My nurse/practitioner said usually you need a fill every 4 to 6 weeks. You can tell when your able eat more...than you should. To watch for that symptom. And get a fill asap so you won't go off track.
  18. I started at 229 and size 20-22 in pants and shirts and sweaters and such. My legs are smaller then the rest of my body. Now I got 14 P Ryder slimming jeans at Wal-Mart the other day...yea. My tops are big but I can still wear them around. I did get two new tops size 18. They are a tad tight. My boobs are just starting to shrink. My tummy is still a bit big. It's hanging like an old apron...LOL But it's shrinking..... I tried on a dress w/jacket I got at Coldwater Creek size 16P a couple of years ago and it's just a bit small in the bust but fits the rest of me. 10 more pounds and it will fit. I find the Petite sizes seem small than womans sizes in dresses and tops. But I need them for length and sleeve length. I am slowly packing away my "fat" clothing. I am lucky that I am retired and don't need work clothes. If I go back to work which I may have to do with this economy I will get an easy wardrobe of mix and match. I am so very happy, I had dinner tonight, made a big roast beef dinner for the family...with all the fixings. I had one small slice of RB 3 oz., two small spoons of mashed potatoes. One small half of a acorn squash. Two small spoonfulls of green beans, one roll/light butter. I ate all the meat, and only had a bite or two of everything else and I felt really really strong restriction. So I stopped eating. I am full with maybe 1/4 or less than I normally would have eaten. I hope to be able to get to 170 by the New Year. Which will leave me with 40 pounds to lose in 2009. With the way the clothes are made today, I have no idea what I will be wearing when I hit 130. When I was 110 I wore a size 3 or 5, but that was in 1970's LOL.

    For those with BMI 35-40?

Hey I had the same problem, went to first meeting and I was one of the "thinnest" there at 229. I was looked apon with dirty looks by the people who were much heavier. Hey I felt like saying, I don't want to end up in a wheelchair and on oxygen and have more life threatening morbities. So I am doing it NOW....before my BMI is 50 or above. I just go along now and usually when I tell someone and hey I don't mind doing it. People are fascinated and most are very happy and say how great I am looking. The people who are overweight want to ask all sorts of questions and I am happy to answer them. They get such a look of hope on their faces I tell them to please look into it. I hope I have helped a few decide to check out WLS.
  20. I have gotten remarks like...you used to be so skinny (like when I was 22 and 103 lbs. I was sickly and most probably a bit anorexic although it wasn't called that in 1970. I gained the weight in my early 40's and 50's. Now that I am 60 it's time to get healthy. I have been lucky most of my family is very very supportive and so have most of my friends. I just think that people are jealous and want you to stay fat then you won't be a threat to them in some way. Do what you want to do and the hell with them I say.

Don't be afriad to ask for a fill

OH so sorry you have had a problem, My clinic is great, I had first fill Sept and felt a bit of restriction. Not much. Then a week ago I started feeling none. So I called and they did a second fill this past Thursday. They told me to call whenever I want...and they will see what they can do, they like to wait at least 3 weeks between fillings.
  22. Shamrockgirl60

    What happened to your face?

LOL Maincat you look great...time for Grecian formula LOL just kidding. Hey I lost one chin, one more to go...and I saw my collarbones this week and can feel my hip bones. My face looks younger too. doing facial exercises to try to keep it from falling I hope they work. I need a new haircut next week, before my Nov. picture. I am taking one photo a month and putting it in my album before and after. Amazing how you change totally. inside and out. I am seeing the woman I used to be come back. I don't think I will get to 110 but close is fine with me 120-130 will be wonderful.

To weigh or not to wiegh?

I try not to weigh myself every day but I do sometimes. If I am feeling not good about the weight loss I will only do it on Friday. I was at a plateau for 2 weeks fluctuating between 190 and 188 drove me crazy, I finally hit 184.4 and feel good this week, I had a fill, I won't weight myself till next Friday. I want to be 180 by next Friday. And 170 by Christmas.
