That's funny - I guess the info that our doctors give us must vary a bit... I only had to do 1 day of mushies before my surgery - not 2 weeks of liquids... and post-op only had to do 6 days of liquid and amnow on my 2 weeks of mushies. I wonder why there's so much variance...

Well I had to share with you guys!!! I had my first weigh in today at my post-op visit (was banded 10/20). They took my bandages off of my suture sites as well (gross) So I started at 365 on the day of the operation Weigh in today: 342! 23lbs Baby! I'm stoked, I had figured on 8 and my wife said 10 but neither of us expected 23! I know it will slow down and most of that is probably water weight, but still! what a great start! to top it all off, I finally am able to burp!!! let out about 5 really good ones and relieved a ton of pressure Also, they graduated me to the Puree stage of the diet - where I'm to stay for 2 more weeks. I'm going to add in excersize as soon as I feel up to it. WOOHOOO!!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement all! Had my first day of Puree foods... here's how it went Water throughout the day - some crystal light too... Breakfast - 2 Tbsp Non Fat cottage cheese Snack - missed it - but should have had a Protein shake lunch - 2 Tbsp chicken spread - really good! low fat low sodium... Snack - 3 Tbsp J-ello dinner - 1/4 cup Cheese Soup - tastes like the cheese on mac & cheese Snack - will have Protein Shake :-) felt full after my chicken stuff at lunch... crazy

GRRR - that was the worst part of the entire surgery!!! I was wide awake when they shoved that thing in me... I screamed and then apologized for the reaction... it burns on the pullout baby! not sure if it's different for men and women - I'm a guy FWIW... I guarantee that I was able to pee the next time on my own...

I was the same as Molly Molly - from info meeting to surgery in 1 month - about 2 weeks waiting for insurance - no proof of prior supervised weight loss attempts necessary. Doctor handled it all... FWIW I am in Sacto CA and have Western Health Advantage. I believe my surgery cost about $20k before any follow-up - I paid 2 $20 copays for the whole thing... best choice I ever made for 40 bucks.

First fill took less than 10 minutes!

Sorry this probably sounds funny, but, Did it hurt? I haven't graduated from liquids yet but I just wonder if the fills hurt more than a needle prick? thanks, -
Congrats! I had mine on 10/20 - I'll be loving it once I get off the liquid phase

I'm fat because it's easy to be fat - I am a lazy guy, I tend to take the path of least resistance and there are so many dang fast food places around it's hard to choose which to gorge myself at next. Sure when I was growing up my parents made me eat everything on my plate but I don't think that's a good enough excuse to explain why I am and have always been fat... I blame it on me. But that's all in the past - I was banded last thursday the 20th and will never be heavy again - I have made a conscious decision that this will be the last time I lose weight, never done that before... always tried different diets half-heartedly, actually lost about 30lbs on Atkins - of course I gained 50 back. I see my doctor tomorrow for my first weigh in.:-)
