Any October Bandsters!??!?!
NormaRae replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, two months seems like a long enough time. It seems that doctors and plans are so much different. I see my surgeon often. At first it was maybe once a month...more in the first 2 months...and now every 3 months. My realize band is either 8 or 9 cc, I have forgotten which. I am filled to a bit less than 7. I do have pb's when I eat too fast. By now you would think I would not eat too fast...it's just the way I live and always have. Try the big E for a couple of weeks and see if that breaks the plateau. If that doesn't work the only thing I would know to do would be to see the doc. -

Hi Molly, Nice to see you again. This could be a plateau that will pass soon. Are you getting some exercise in? (I know...the e word is so disgusting). Pretty sure I would get another 1/2 cc to get a boost. Talk to your doctor. -
Of course it is a memory now, but as I recall the liquid diet was difficult the first 2 or 3 days but after that it was not so hard at all. You start feeling less bloated and a bit lighter right away but the strong motivation to succeed helps too. I would wish you good luck but I am confident that you will do just fine and don't need luck to get where you want to go.

Who would have thought 9 months would make such a difference. This is not just a weight program, it is life changing. Good for us! -
For me, I have to click on my own ticker to get back to where you can make changes. Originally I had to go to Graphical Tickers and Trackers: Weight Loss, Trying To Conceive, Pregnancy... to set up my ticker. Try that if you need more help. Also, there is a tutorial on using the tracker at http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f5/ticker-tutorial-pictures-41782/ Good luck...it is fairly easy once you get started. The first couple of times I made changes I thought I was making errors because I had to type my password in twice. It was not me, that's how the system works.

OMG! You lost a whole person! Excellent! Just think how good it is to stop carrying an extra adult person all the time. If you are a mother, you know how much lighter and freer you felt after you delivered your baby. 130 lbs. is not a baby, it's an adult. Great job! :)

WOOHOO! That is a wonderful lose in less than a month! Excellent job...you should be proud. If you are like me, you will wonder what took you so long to git 'r done! Life began at 64 for me...at least a new life. You get started way younger than I did. But I start while I was still this side or ground level so I am happy! Keep up the good work!

It is all good. You are moving in the right direction. Besides, you have lost so much all ready that you are going to slow down a bit. Don't get discouraged. You are doing wonderfully!

Thanks...actually I have been at goal for about 6 weeks. So far I have lost a little more...about 2 pounds...so far maintenance is fine...I have regained many many times after losing so I am still a little insecure. This just has to be permanent. -

Me Schultz! Wow that is fantastic! I am so proud of you. Thanks for sharing how much your life has changed. The weight loss does make us feel good about being active. Sitting and vegging just does not do it anymore. I am doing well too and I stopped hiding every time i see a camera. Summer is going to be so much more fun than it has been. I even bought a swimming suit. I have not had an occasion to wear it yet but I will. Please write back and let us know when you make your 100 lb. goal. I am sure it will be very soon! -

Wow Karen, that's terrific. You are doing really well! -
Hi Ema, I do have some loose skin but not too bad. I expect it to tighten up somewhat. Some folks actually have plastic surgery afterwards to get rid of that. I have reached my goal and do occasionally indulge in things I probably should not. I don't deny myself a cookie now and then but I am not even tempted to over do it. The band works. Yes, you do need to do your part too but motivation aided by the band is successful. I am never hungry. My biggest problem is exercise. I don't seem to be able to motivate myself that way. However, just because I weigh so much less I naturally get more exercise than I did prior to the surgery. I have energy now. I am comfortable moving now. Also, I don't hide because I am embarrassed about the way I look. I think it is normal to have some reservations. We all have a bit of apprehension about the unknown and you never really know how it will be for you until you do it. I have no regrets at all! Good luck to you!

Eat slowly, do not drink with your meals, chew, chew, chew. be sure to put your fork on the table between bites. I eat too fast sometimes too. I hate that choking feeling so I am definitely learning to eat slower and chew better. -
I don't know if it is unusual but I do know it is excellent! Great job!

Wow...the baby is gorgeous. Is that you holding him? You are beautiful too. Is your son jealous of the attention the baby is getting so he is acting out? Happens...hope everyone finds some peace in this situation. First few months can be difficult making adjustments to not enough sleep and new, overwhelming responsibilities. -
I would sure like to help you but the only advise I have is to see your doctor ASAP. Could it be stress related?

Joann, Thanks for the kind words. You are well on your way. I was afraid I would wake up this morning and find it was a dream and I am still overweight but the scale did re-enforce the dream. Life is good!

I know you are right about the energy. Been there in the past but can not seem to get started. I always find an excuse to put it off for another day. I am so proud of you for losing so much and staying on track! You are a fab example for everyone. I think your new life is well established now and you have the mojo to continue forever. Congrats!!!! -

Cholesterol was 220 on my last blood test. I know all the meats, eggs and cheese we eat is probably not cholesterol friendly. I need to commit to exercise, that would help. -

My hair is also thinning. I was at support meeting yesterday and they suggested taking zinc and biotin. They also said the hair will come back in eventually. :rolleyes2: My hair has always been very thick so it is not a horrible thing. The new hair seems to be coming in a different color. :crying: Yikes...I am trying to avoid chemicals on my hair because it is really dried out as well as thinned out.
