1 step forward, 2 steps back

What position do you sleep in? Before my band surgery, I used to sleep on my stomach and would have a lot of back pain. After my band surgery in 2008, I couldn't sleep on my stomach because of the port , I started sleeping on my back or side and my pain got so much better. After I had the sleeve, I started to go back onto my stomach and the pain was starting up again.
  2. I'm curious If they can do it again to the correct size. I had minimal scar tissue and I can feel the restriction. I'm having trouble getting all the Water in though. One week I gained a pound so I said "screw it" and had 1 cup of Pasta for dinner one night. Then I lost 1.5 pound. So now I'm trying to up my carbs just a little bit. Good luck & keep me posted on how your appt goes Lori
  3. @@peacheeie, I'm curious, where did you have your surgery? Did the Dr say you had a lot of scar tissue? I know we've talked because we have the same insurance Lori

    Need advice

I go to Dr. Fiallo in Springfield. He's fantastic!! He did my band in 2008 and my revision to sleeve in February. My surgery was done at Baystate but he does them at Mercy too. When I'm having trouble with the bone spur in my foot, I sometimes have to do the recumbent bike in the gym. Can you do that? That's the bike that you sit down on, you rest your back on the seat

    Movie time

Atkins makes a candy coated candy that are like peanut m&ms and a chocolate covered peanuts. They would be great to take to the movies. I haven't been yet since my surgery , if I go , I think I would rather sneak in a 100 calorie pop bag than waste money on popcorn that I might have trouble eating.
  6. I had the lapband in 2008 and just had it removed on 2/4 and had the sleeve done at the same time. From all the posts I've been reading, those that have had the "revision" surgery are not losing as fast as those that are having the sleeve. But I also had an easier time adjusting because I had been through it before with the band

    SALTY TASTE?

I haven't noticed it yet. I do know when I'm trying to decide whAt to make to eat, nothing is appealing. I've used a garlic/ pepper seasoning when I'm cooking but it hasn't been an overwhelming taste yet. Watch, now that I'm replying it will start bothering me lol
  8. That's great. I also had minimal scar tissue and the recovery went very smooth. You are on your way!
  9. I found that every time I tried something new, I could only get down a couple of bites or spoonfuls but the next time I would eat that particular food, I was able to eat more, (2-3 oz)

    Movie time

I agree. It's still too soon.
  11. Mine was a revision surgery. I only lost 19.5 pounds at 8 weeks post op. I have barely exercised because of a bone spur in my foot has made it very painful to walk. I'm hoping to get it treated in a couple of weeks so I can start my walking again. I still think my weight loss will be slow even with the exercise but my goal is to try to lose 8-10 pounds a month.
  12. I wasn't losing with the band. Had started to develop acid reflux and as my upper pouch would fill up which would make me stop eating, as soon as it passed through the band I would be hungry again. With the sleeve, I actually feel full. There is no waiting for it to pass so I can start eating again. I'm just full
  13. . I can relate to you because we went in for revision around the same time. I haven't had any crazy meals
  14. I see on the forums for first time Sleevers how their taste buds changed. What about you all that had revisions? Mine don't seem to have changed
  15. I have noticed - a couple of weeks ago I ate something ( not healthy) because I was craving it since my surgery. Once I ate it, I have not craved it since. That happened a couple of times with 2 different foods, ate it and no longer cared for it after. I would be Syked if I never care to eat it again but who knows
  16. As far as the esophagus, there is no band at the bottom tightening it
  17. If I eat too fast I get a feeling similar to the stuck feeling but it's different. I can't describe it. It happened twice, I ran to the bathroom and slightly dry heaved and I was fine. With the band, I would be pacing for 10 minutes and then would dry heave. When I'm FULL, I feel slightly nauseous instead of the feeling of the food stuck in your throat like it is with the band. I still get anxiety eating with people because I'm still afraid from all those stuck episodes I had with the band. I'm only 2 months out , I know there are others who have been very successful with the sleeve and will give you some great feedback

    Meat 7 days out?

So true!! I ate my first apple a couple of days ago and I was sleeved on 2/4. Wow!! I would definitely recommend that for constipation. ( sorry, I know we got off topic)
  19. I do have to add that I don't get "stuck" like I did with the band and I don't get sick- but I still have the anxiety
  20. I'm still getting anxiety about eating with the sleeve. Sometimes at work after lunch I get a stomach ache after. I'm scared to go to a restaurant. I have a dinner to attend in May and I'm nervous. I was revised on 2/4. I want to get past this so I can start going out again

    Enough calories?

I use MFP to track my calories to make sure I'm getting at least 1000 a day. I don't get any alerts ( maybe it's turned off on my phone)

    Meat 7 days out?

My plan allowed me starting 8 days post op to eat scrambled eggs, yogurt and tuna fish & chicken salad. I also added a spoonful of Hormel Chili w/beans to the mashed potato with shredded cheese melted on top. It added more substance and was very filling ( and I still lost weight). I don't eat it now that I'm on regular food but it was yummy

    Resleeve

There are other posts in this forum from others who were also successful with the band and not the sleeve. I was not one of the band success stories and like the sleeve much better. I think they went in for xrays to see the size of their sleeve
