  1. For the bowel movements - make sure you get plenty of water in. On the days that I don't drink much - My BM also seems to stop until I start loading up with water again.
  2. I had my period on my surgery day - they give you disposable underwear with a pad to wear. My hospital gown was still on me when I woke up - it was tied just as I had left it so I'm not sure what they did.

    Advil/Tylenol

I think you might have overdone it with 3 pills.

    Dietician---6MONTHS???

I was required to meet with the dietician to clear me for surgery.
  5. Just checking in - how are you doing with the band?

  6. Good for you! We were offered pizza at work the other day & I was too scared to eat it - I just ate the cheese off the top since I'm not on full foods yet.

    Hello

The nausea is probably from your pain meds. It will get better each day but try to save the meds for bedtime.
  8. My doctor does not require a pre-op. I did hear though that if a patient weighs over a certain amount, then he will have them do a pre-op but he said the liver hasn't really been much of an issue for him unless they binge before surgery. He will not do the surgery if anyone gains over a certain amount of weight prior.
  9. I have told people that I recently had some abdominal surgery and need to eat liquids for a few days while I heal. No one has pressed me for more info.
  10. My doctor said I can take pills as long as they are no bigger than an M&M. Tylenol is fine but they post-op instructions say to stay away from ibuprofin (I don't know why). I did need something the other night and had nothing on me but my friend had Advil so I took one and was fine.
  11. I had the same surgery date as you and I just started soft food! I take each item slowly to see how I'm going to react. The only problem is, I can only eat a small amout in 1 sitting so I keep finding myself eating something every hour - 90 minutes. I might have a yogurt, then later a cheese stick. Or a 3oz pudding. I will not try crackers yet (even though I'm dying for one) because I'm too scared (might not be such a bad thing).

    Tired of the med crushing.

I am allowed to take pills that are no bigger than an M&M - and they started me on them while I was in the hospital!
  13. I lost 11 pounds post-op. I'm not expecting a fast weight loss because the "mushies" have alot of carbs which always make it difficult for me to lose weight. I start adding soft food this weekend so as I eat more protein, I'm hoping to see more results.
  14. I'm also 2 weeks post -op and have been getting the cramps also - I think it's gas - it's always on my left side.
  15. I think it's a combination of hunger pains & gas. Make sure you drink your protein drinks and try some gas-x. good luck!
  16. I'm only 2 weeks post-op and still on mushies. I start soft food in 2 days. I have been SO hungry lately that I found myself eating non-stop between 5pm - 6pm. I had a 3oz SF pudding, SF Fudgesicle, 1/4 c - cream of chix Soup and a 1/4 c of mashed potatoes. Then, I had a tsp of Peanut Butter and a bite of cheese! I stopped because I felt it kind of stuck in the piping going down. That was 2 1/2 hours ago. I'm not nauseaus, I can drink Water, I'm not sliming - but I still feel it. I keep burping small burps. Will it go away on it's own? I know I should have never let myself get carried away! Any advice would be appreciated.

    2nd night

The pain meds do cause nausea. I limited mine to right before I went to bed - then I would eat a Tums when I woke up in the morning and I was fine. If you need something during the day - just take Tylenol.
  18. Actually, I ended up being fine today. I think you were right - it was just too fast because nothing ever came up.

    Liquid diet

Try Atkins or Eas - also, if you add raspberry or orange extract to either the chocolate of vanilla - it will change the flavor a little
  20. Yes - I slept through the night - nothing ever came up but it still feels like something is there. I work at a hotel so when I go in this morning, I'm gonna go to the restaurant and take a couple of sips of pineapple juice. I dind't think I would be as restricted as I am. I guess that's a good thing compared to some of the other people who have no restriction.
  21. I had the hiatal hernia also - I think it does slow our recovery doen more thsn others. I ddin't have much of an appetite the first week but then - boy did it increase.
  22. I'm just curious if there are people out there that have found that they are able to eat rice & pasta and if so - what are you doing that makes it agreebale with the band. (I'm still on the mushy phase)
  23. I found that if I took a tums when I woke up in the morning - it helped with the nausea. I sleep with a pillow on each side of me and it makes a big difference. I wasn't able to start shifting onto my side though until about a week post-op
  24. I am on day 5 post-op and still on the full liquids phase. I am ready to move onto mushies on Friday but since last night, I am so hungry. I feel like I can eat regular food and all I want right now is regular food but I don't dare. I am sick of the protein drinks & jello. I made tomato soup today which did help. Did anyone else start earlier?
  25. Yes - it does make sense. Right now I'm on mushies - I'm living on mashed potatoes, yogurt, pudding and soup. I can't start 'soft foods' until Friday - that is when I can eat eggs, tuna, chili etc... I am starving on the mushy phase right now and the high carb content that mashed potatoes, yogurt and pudding are not going to help. But once I can start eating protein - then I can stop eating all the mushy food (until I get a fill , yes?)
