    Tufts health plan

I had Tufts back in 2008 when I had the lapband After the 6 months they require it was approved and it was smooth sailing. They were great!

    Finished my requirements and waiting

    What insurance do you have?
  3. It sounds like you are eating too many carbs still. Try to cut way back and see if you start seeing the scale move. Stay away from the breads & Pasta as much as possible.
  4. That's what I'm worried about. How much time did you take off from work. My Dr. said to plan on 2 weeks so I have plenty of vacation time saved - my 90 days is complete!! Just waiting now for them to submit to the insurance - after the new year.
  5. My pre-op diet is not just liquids - it's a low carb - mostly Protein & veggies. Just waiting for approval.
  6. What insurance do you have? I have Cigna- just completed their 3 month requirement , will be eligible to submit on jan 5th and then have to wait

    Band was a huge mistake?

What happened that you had to go to the ER?
  8. Congrats!!! I'm pissed because if I didn't have to wait the 3 months it would cover 90% of the surgery. After the new year, my coverage is changing to just 80% coverage

    anyone have Cigna?

I have Cigna. I was told that the appointments didn't matter when - it just had to be once a month over a 3 month period. My paperwork will be ready for submission after the new year. Mine will be revision surgery though

    Band was a huge mistake?

You might have a problem getting your insurance to cover it. Some companies will only cover it once
  11. I've completed the 90 day requirement!! Keeping my fingers crossed. My paperwork will be eligible to be sent in 1/6. Did the 3 monthly nutritionist meetings, got the psyc evaluation and surgeon & PCP approval. Also attended 2 support group meetings!! Now the wait begins.....
  12. I also had the band in 2008 - going through the process for revision surgery now - hopefully will be approved in January
  13. . Any new info since your last post?
  14. You should do all the stuff like nutritionist etc... I've already met with the psychiatrist and once with the nutritionist. Just start now so you can get the ball rolling
  15. I have Cigna and am looking to switch from the ban to the sleeve. Anyone else with Cigna have this done? I had Tufts when I originally got the band and I'm worried that Cigna will not approve. I'm going to meet with the surgeon today. I was banded in 2008 and lost 70 pounds but have gained most of it back. I've been experiencing on & off pain for the past year. I did the barium swallow test a year ago but it looked like the band was in place. I don't like it - don't like that 'stuck" feeling - I just want to feel full. I was doing great until the band was too tight and waited a year before having some saline removed. By then, I was back into oldbad habits.
  16. I'm curious for those who went from the band to the sleeve - with the smaller stomach - have you noticed a difference when drinking alcohol? I'm not a big drinker - I can't stomach much alcohol as it is but I'm wondering if the sleeve changes the effect that alcohol has on the body.
  17. I have Cigna - because you have a medical complication - I don't believe they need anything else. Because I'm looking to have the revision due to band failure (not to mention it' causing me acid reflux) - I have to start from scratch - 90 days and meet with nutritionist, psychiatrist etc..I'm pissed because me insurance plan is changing with Cigna after the new year where right now they will cover 90% and after 1/1 it's only 80% and I won't hit my 90 days until 1/1/15.
  18. I've started the 90 day journey - I just attended my first support group meeting and next week have appointments with the nutritionist and psychiatrist. It stinks that we have to go through it all over again for revision surgery just because there are no serious complications - just minor ones.
  19. The surgeons office was pretty adamant that it wouldn't qualify - I did go through a year of throbbing chest pain around the band - we did the Barium Swallow test a year ago and it showed no problems - the band was tight but I was able to eat alot. When I went a few weeks ago to start this process - I had the Test done again because of the pain - still no signs of any problem with the band - just reflux so he removed 2 cc's and now I feel much better. Because it's Cigna - they don't want to submit anything until it's all completed because having to appeal is more difficult.
  20. Let me ask you a question- I called Cigna and they confirmed that revision coverage is different than starting from scratch and showed the 4 bullet points. I qualify for all but 1 - the one about the band causing the medical problem. The surgeons office said that because of that- I need to see the nutritionist, psyc etc... So that it will be easier to get approved in 3 months vs no wait with the revision. I'm worried that after all that hardwork- what else do I need to do
  21. Any update on if your insurance approved it?
  22. Bee- I have Cigna also with the same info. What ended up happening with your surgery? Your story sounds just like mine
