  1. Does anyone know why we are getting this? During surgery they are repairing hernias etc.. So I'm surprised that I'm getting the reflux

    Hungry post op?

When I got my lapband 6 years ago I started craving flavored water instead of plain so I use a lot of Crystal Light etc... I'm 5 days post op with sleeve revision. I'm still drinking flavored water but am so sick of the liquids. And to make matters worse, I'm cooped up indoors because we keep getting major snowstorms. The food commercials are killing me but I just keep telling myself " you need to heal "
  3. How soon after revision surgery can you start swallowing pills??
  4. I'm still getting the hives but hydrocortisone cream has been helping

    Weight loss

Hulahan- the average healthy weight loss is 2-3 pounds a week. The fact that you lost 17 in one week is great but its only natural for your body to stop & catch up. It might take 5 or 6 weeks for you to start losing again. Don't lose hope ☺

    Depressed

My Dr. Plan won't let me start pudding or yogurt until 1 week post op. That's when I can start adding soup and soft foods but only 2 options per day

The protein is the most important - especially now our bodies need it to heal but today - the thought of drinking them is not appealing to me
  8. Yes!! You would be a good candidate. Have you lost any weight? I was banded in 2008, did really well the first 2 years and then a too tight fill was the start of my downfall. My surgeon who put in the band was 100% behind the revision. He said he's been doing it with all his lapband patients. I was lucky that I have a different insurance than I had back then because some will only do it once in a lifetime
  9. I just had revision surgery but when I had the lapband, I found it easier to digest protein if it was cut up in a salad. I also started to like sliced apples with peanut butter as a snack. I'm hoping that I will be able to tolerate these foods with the sleeve. I won't know for a couple of weeks

    Depressed

    I keep telling myself " sip,sip,sip....."
  11. Mine also was 2/4 but I had the revision from band to sleeve. I'm a single mom and my son is doing a semester abroad so I'm caring myself. It hurts when I get in or out of bed, when I cough or sneeze. I'm already getting sick of the liquids and now hunkered in the house for the next couple of days as a blizzard is starting.
  12. Well, its 4 days post op. I love my protein shakes but am starting to get sick of the liquid phase. I just keep reminding myself " you have to heal"
  13. My revision was 4 days ago. I had the same surgeon that put in my band. It feels like the same recovery. During surgery they saw that my band had slightly slipped and a hernia had formed which he removed. I was sent home the next day. The pain feels more like a cramping sensation. It hurts getting in & out of bed and off the couch. It also hurts when I cough or sneeze. I'm already getting sick of the liquid diet but its more important that I follow the plan so my sleeve can heal
  14. While I'm home I'm getting into the routine of just drinking the shakes as my 3 meals (they are 30grams each) and sipping water between meals or eat some jello
  15. My surgeon told me I can walk the treadmill as soon as my pain subsides. My plan was to take it easy for the first week and try to get to the gym week #2. The downfall is that I'm in MA and we've been getting hit with really bad snowstorms
  16. The plan that my nutritionist had me on prior to surgery was high protein/low carb and she had me eat an Atkins bar at night as the last food for the day. It really hit the spot. I'm only 3 days post-op from revision surgery but would like to continue with that when I move on to Solid Foods. I'm curious if anyone out there has been eating them

    updates please

I'm one of the bandsters from 2008. I did very well the first couple of years. By year 3, I got a fill that was too tight and everything went downhill from there. I ended up gaining most- not all of my weight back. This past Wednesday - 2/4/15 I had revision surgery - band removed and did the gastric sleeve. The surgeon said my band had slightly slipped & I had a hernia which he removed. I really don't want to fail again.

    February 3rd Sleevers

I was sleeved on 2/4. I live in Massachusetts. My surgery was revision surgery. Had lapband removed after 6 years and now have the sleeve.
  19. I refused the pain meds post op. Didn't want the nausea that it caused when I had my band surgery. Now with the revision - it's much easier getting my liquids in and the pain is bearable.
  20. When things were going well with my lapband - a typical meal would be a slice of whole wheat toast with either tuna fish or chicken salad in top with a slice if melted cheese on top. That would be my entire meal and I was losing weight back then. As the years went by, that meal wasn't filling enough for me. Now I just got the sleeve, probably won't try that for quite some time but eventually would like to
  21. So far so good. The revision was done on Wednesday. I refused the pain meds after the surgery because I didn't want the nausea and the pain was bearable. I went home the next day (Thursday). On Thursday night, it was really weird, my arms started to break out in itchy hives. I put cream on and that seemed to help. Last night I took some Benydryl. I stayed on my couch all day Friday and that's when I started the protein shakes and then I really started to feel better. I drink Premier Protein because if the 30grams. Today(sat) I finally took a shower. In between shakes, I constantly sip water
  22. Good to know. Last night my arms started to break out in itchy hives. I wanted to take some Benydryl. I just dissolved some in flavored water and took it that way
  23. Get Premier Protein shakes. They are 30 grams each of protein

    Is this gas?

I had that when I got the lapband surgery 6 years ago. I just had the revision to sleeve. The nurse had us take deep breaths and said it will help with the gas pains & it did
