    Drinking during meals

I was told the liquid can fill up your stomach and they want you to get your food/protein intake in

    Eatting. ..

When I had the lapband, during the successful phase, I was able to eat 1 slice of pizza for my meal and still lose weight. It's all about cutting back the portion control. As time went by and I wasn't doing well with the band, my portion sizes increased as well as my weight. Now I'm newly sleeved. I see nothing wrong with just 1 slice as long as you are exercising and eating healthy around that. Why deprave yourself of what you really enjoy? As long as it's not a lot and All the time you will be fine
  3. Peecheeie & Gendy, I'm following up to see how you are both doing since your revision surgery. I just had mine 2/4th. Still on the liquid phase

    Cigna insurance and weight gain...

Just an update - Cigna approved and 1 week post-op from revision surgery!!
  5. Yesterday I was so hungry and needed something besides a shake or jello. I finally heated up some tomato soup - slowly sipped a 1/2 cup and boy did that hit the spot!! I was content for hours afterwards!
  6. Mashed potatoes is on my list for phase 2. I haven't reached that phase yet

    Band Out... Now Sleeved!

I was just reading this post and saw I was on it over a year ago- now I'm sleeved!! I'm surprised to read about all the people newly banded- so many doctors have stopped doing the bands
  8. Cleo's mom- I just had the revision because what bothered me about the band is that when food did get stuck - I rarely threw up but would dry heave. Then I would go finish my meal. Or in a restaurant- I couldn't eat the whole meal because I was getting stuck but as soon as I got home I would finish it because I was still hungry. I'm still in the liquid phase but what I want is that if I take leftovers home- I won't eat them until the next day because I'm satisfied for the night. I'm praying that this works but right now I'm focused on my body healing & following the doctors instructions.
  9. I do have to say I've been craving a platter of pasta!! It will be awhile before that happens but I want it so bad right now
  10. Swampdoggie-thanks for asking. I'm feeling good. The pain isn't too bad. We've been getting so much snow that I've been cooped up in the house all week. I take my dog outside when I can but don't feel strong enough to stand for a long period of time. I do get some acid reflux - have been taking tums. While I'm cooped up I've been constantly on my tablet reading the posts on Bariatric Pal. It seems like the people that had the revisions do better with the food than the first time Sleevers. I'm wondering if it's because we know when to stop like we did with the band? I can't wait to start the mushy food phase but am nervous also. Lori
  11. You will be fine!! As I read the posts from the people that are getting the sleeve the first time vs the revisions, it seems like the people with the revisions are dealing with it fine. I think because we already went through it before we kind of know what to expect. Haven't started eating food yet- that's what makes me nervous now

    Time off work?

I'm currently in my 2 weeks off for revision surgery

Damn did I really do this?

Mine was the day before yours. I found that putting pillows on each side of me made it comfortable for me to sleep on my sides

    Starving!

Add your calories with protein. Have cheese, almonds etc.. I had to eat that for my pre-op and it really curbed my hunger
  15. The nurse at the hospital told us that if your home watching TV at every commercial break, to start sipping your water. I'm not back at work yet but it does help
  16. I know someone who had the bypass and gained most of her weight back so nothing is 100%

    Starving!

I would switch your breakfast to protein instead of fruit. It will keep you full longer. My nutritionist has me staying away from bananas but right now I'm still in the full liquid phase. If you can fit it in- celery or apple with peanut butter is also very filling. Good luck! Hope you find something to fill you up
  18. Cynthia - my doctor just had me follow a 2 week high protein/low carb diet. He didn't care if I didn't lose weight - just didn't want me to gain. He did my lapband 6 years ago and just did my sleeve revision. I'm so glad that he never required the liquid diet before the surgery like some doctors do

    February 3rd Sleevers

I love the Premier Protein shakes because they have 30 grams each. I will say my first day home from the hospital since it was water only I felt like crap. The day after I was allowed to start the protein shakes and wow!! I felt SO much better. I've been drinking them on & off the past 6 years with the band- especially when it was too tight and plan on drinking 1 for breakfast every day when I return to work. On my days off I'll try other foods
  20. I was under the impression that the dumping was diarrhea right after eating
  21. I'm relieved to hear that this is somewhat normal

    Eating Uncomfortable

Edavidson, sorry to hear about all the problems you are having. I'm only 5 days post op so don't yet know how I'm going to react but I was wondering, what if you tried just soup (tomato), yogurt & pudding for a week just to see if that stays down

    Depressed

Jazzmundo- I can't wait either! Being cooped up in the house during all these snowstorms we keep getting isn't helping either
