  1. I cried before my date and even in the hospital prior to surgery. Mine was a revision surgery & I think I was more nervous about what the doc was going to find. It turned out fine & I was so relieved after that I had a speedy recovery
  2. Oh and as of yesterday I was 9 pounds down post op
  3. My surgery went very well. I decided after the operation to refuse pain meds in the hospital because I didn't want to deal with the nausea like I had with the band surgery. They ended up sending me home the next day - surgeon told me my band had slightly slipped and formed a hernia which he removed. No problems getting protein drinks and water in. So far the only soft food I have been eating is 3oz of mashed potato mixed with 1/4 can of Hormel Chili with Beans & shredded cheese- microwaved & mixed. It's SO good after having all those shakes. I'm going to start with soup tomorrow.

    Sleeve vs. band

I was banded in 2008. I did well the first year & a half. At one point I had a full that was a little too tight. I didn't do anything about it for a year. Food was always getting stuck and it was so hard to go out socially. Finally, I had some fluid removed and I could eat again but found my habits of turning to slider foods got worse and I started gaining all my weight back. Then had really bad chest pains which were acid reflux. I decided to get rid if the band and get the sleeve - surgery was 11 days ago. Found out after the surgery that my band had slipped and had a hernia. The band isn't forever- at some point it will need to come out. Sleeve is forever

    where do you live?

    Massachusetts
  6. Shiritaki Tofu Noodles are a great pasta substitute. I ate this with lapband- haven't tries with sleeve yet but I would make Shrimp Scampi with the Shiritaki Tofu Noodles & vegetables. You can do it without the shrimp & lots of veggies

    Are you hungry?

I'm always hungry also. Not sure if its because I'm cooped up in the house all day because of all the snowstorms we keep getting. Hoping it gets better when I go back to work

    Vitamins

I love Centrum Chewables. I started taking them 6 years ago with the band and continue to do so with the sleeve. I also buy Chewable Vitamin C from Costco. It's got like 500 pills but I take them faithfully every day. Going on 6+ years
  9. I know from reading your other posts about the problems you were having - I'm wondering if the oatmeal was too soon and if that caused your kink. I'm surprised at how many people are full liquids 2 weeks post op- mine is only 1 week but you didn't have a time frame.
  10. I'm also 10 days post op. Not sure which incision the stomach was pulled through because I also had the band removed. My steri- strips still haven't fallen off yet either. They are curling but I don't dare pull them off

    Not successful with sleeve?

My advice to anyone having the surgery - the most important thing to focus on recovery is helping your body to heal. The protein drinks are the most important, your body needs that protein to heal and water to keep you hydrated. To me, that's the primary focus in the beginning- once you've completed the healing process- then it's time to start the weight loss journey & best of luck to everyone
  12. The pain meds are what causes nausea. When I was in the hospital getting the lapband 6 years ago the nausea was so bad the car ride home felt like a roller coaster. Once the pain meds were out if my system, so was the nausea. I just had the revision surgery 10 days ago, when I came to- I told them the pain was tolerable and not to give me anything and I was fine.

    February 2nd anyone?

How are the February sleeves doing? Mine was a revision surgery on 2/4. I started yogurt & pudding yesterday. I feel like I'm hungrier at night but content during the day. Just frustrated with the cold weather& snowstorms we keep getting
  14. I was very honest with people and received a lot of support. And to the few who made a comment about " why can't you just diet & exercise" - you don't want to know what my response was
  15. Mine was also 2/4 - it was a revision from band to sleeve. Been eating Greek Yogurt & SF Pudding the past few days. It was a nice change from the shakes.

    Natural Peanut Butter

Apples with peanut butter is on my Nutritionist plan. I buy the cups " to go" because they are portioned sized
  17. I was making a great pizza pre-op using a low carb pita for crust. I would brush olive oil on top of the pita, add minced garlic, cut up cooked chicken and diced tomatoes with mozzarella cheese on top. It was delicious & healthy
  18. I'm glad to hear that. I'm only 9 days post op and was the same as you. No problems with drinks, yogurt, pudding. I was wondering how my stomach is going to handle the food down the road

    Ugh sweets

Try the SF Chocolate Pudding. My Pre-op consisted of 1 Atkins bar at the end of the day. It satisfied my sweet tooth and really hit the spot
  20. Once you start getting the Protein drinks in your body will feel so much better. Just keep sipping. The nurse in the hospital told me that if I'm going to watch tv - use the commercial breaks to start sipping. I really felt my body healing the more I drank. Be careful of the pain meds- they will increase nausea which will make it tough. If you can, try Tylenol. Good luck
  21. Happy Birthday!???? The post -op phase is depressing while we wait for our bodies to adjust. I wish I knew what to say to cheer you up but I get how you're feeling. Your 27th birthday might suck right now but I'll bet your 28th will be fabulous. You should print your rant to pull out this time next year to see how much you will accomplish in a year with your weight loss journey
  22. I had no pre-op diet but post -op Love the Premier Protein Shakes at Costco and Atkins Mocha Latte Shakes

    Cookbook recommendations?

Ground Turkey Or Ground Chicken Chili is a great meal to make. You can add beans for more protein & whatever veggies you like. Also the Turkey Or Chicken Meatballs. I've been looking at slow cooker recipes online
  24. with the band - I would eat a bagel flat vs. a regular bagel. But I always made sure my bread was toasted. I don't plAn on touching be bread for awhile.
  25. I didn't really have a pre-op diet either. I'm supposed to move to soft foods tomorrow but was too hungry to wait so I started with a yogurt today. I just took a small lick and then stopped, wasn't sure if it was adjusting. I waited a couple of hours and then went back to it. I was able to eat the whole yogurt in about a 1/2 hour. Oh it was so good!
