Just had my revision surgery!
LSF replied to LSF's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Fine. No issues at all but my weight loss is very slow. Only 13 pounds the first month. It's depressing to read about all the others who have lost 20 or more the first month but I've always been a slow loser. I haven't really been exercising much either so that's my fault. Haven't had any trouble with food , stick to mostly protein and veggies. Today for the first time I made a tuna melt in 1/2 a slice of a sandwich thin toasted. Had no problem getting it down and that's the first bread I ate -
I'm enjoying menopause. I don't want to get my period

Lucky you!! I'm one of the SLOW losers!!! I doubt I'll lose 20 pounds in 2 months

I've been regular since I had my surgery a month ago but I've noticed, when I'm working I have more of a routine for getting my water in and I stay regular. On my days off, if I'm running around with errands etc.., I'm hardly drinking much water and I don't have to go those days. I'm convinced the water does the trick -
I was looking at my surgeons/nutritionist plan yesterday for 31 days post-op, it says - 3 small meals and 2 Snacks, 2 Starch servings, 2 fruit servings etc... - I realized I was not getting all the food in. Plus, their plan came with 3 different options, 1000 calorie, 1200 calorie or 1500 calorie. Now I'm trying to up my food intake to reach the 1000 calorie a day plan.

I'm also 4 weeks out. With me it'd more the thought of drinking the shake or eating some foods that make me nauseous but once I start, I'm fine

Is this head hunger or actual hunger?
LSF replied to kndoster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was craving everything under the son! Food commercials were killing me! Once I was able to start eating soft foods, that craving started to go away -
I tried something I never had before. Food hasn't been too appealing lately. At my work cafeteria yesterday, I took some Tunafish from the salad bar but I'm getting sick of tuna. Someone made a comment that there was bacon on the salad bar- I started thinking about it and the next thing I knew, I was adding the cut up cooked bacon in the cup with my tuna and ate it. It was delicious!! Never had those 2 foods together before

I just sent you a request also. I can't find my messages on my tablet

The good thing about it is its not like at the dentist where you are sitting there WAITING for them to work on your mouth. My anesthesiologist said I'm about to feel like I drank 2 martinis. All of a sudden I started to giggle and said " oh yeah I feel it" and the next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery. It felt like just a few minutes had passed, not hours

I was worried about the drains that I read about before my surgery. I asked my surgeon and he said I wouldn't be having any drains and I didn't. I also didn't have a pre-op diet. I wonder why the doctors are all SO different

Sounds like low blood sugar. You should keep almonds handy to snack on or a protein bar. It will help

My insurance has the same clause but I had a different insurance when I had my band so I lucked out on that but my new insurance did not cover 100% for my revision like my old one did

Am I doomed to fail? Is the sleeve right for me?

Can you give us what your day is foodwise? -
Bend over for a few minutes. Then you will feel it pass

I broke out in hives on my arms & legs about 10 hours after I got home from the hospital. I took Claritin for a few days, put hydrocortisone cream on the itchy hives and then I was fine after about 3 days.

Almost 4 weeks post op. This week I've been craving celery with peanut butter but I don't have any celery. I'm going to buy some when I go grocery shopping later in the week -
Vomiting with empty stomach? (The Adventures of Erin and Frankensleeve)
LSF replied to HereComesTheSun's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It sounds like a stomach bug or maybe you needed to eat more for dinner? I'm almost 4 weeks post op - yesterday I had a really bad headache and when I went to eat dinner, I was nauseous and nothing really appealed to me. -

I watched a couple of those episodes for the first time this weekend on On- Demand. Watching these woman and seeing the toll it was taking on their families made me even more determined to work at this as hard as I can -
Starting out at age 45? How common?
LSF replied to KS123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was 46 when I got the lapband, 52 when I had the revision to sleeve. -
Atkins has candy. I just bought some on sale at Walmart this morning. They have a chocolate candy with caramel on the inside, chocolate covered almonds and a candy that's similar to peanut m&ms.

Denied by insurance for a revision. Any one else experience this?
LSF replied to Mom0f3inOC's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I have Cigna. I was originally denied but when I asked the reason, it was only because the hospital listed for the surgery was the the approved hospital. Fortunately, my surgeon practices at both hospitals so we re- submitted and it was approved. Keep us posted on how your peer to peer goes. I have seen other posts that were successful -
I have Cigna and had my revision done in 1 surgery which they approved. This was after the 3 month requirement was met

Band being taken out due to "pseudo-achalasia"
LSF replied to sleeveee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had the revision a few weeks ago after having the band for 6 years. I have posted this before but I truly believe that we have an easier time adjusting because we've been through it before. I haven't vomited, and each week I add a new food to my diet ( except for dense meat- still too early) and am not having any problems. I think it's because I'm already used to eating slow, chewing thoroughly and know when to stop. Today at work we had a free pizza delivered, I was kind of hungry so I took a slice/square, pulled off the topping and just are that. Threw the crust away and it was so good!! Good luck to you! -
I feel it too!! I was cooped up recovering from surgery for 2 weeks with a snowstorm every couple of days. And the food commercials were killing me!! I kept thinking- if it was springtime I could take my dog to the dog park or go for walks outside. At the supermarket today, I really had to pull myself away from the junk food aisle.
