    Getting to know you...

Hi Everyone, I am Heddy 22 from Kansas. I have been on an over two year journey thus far. I have lost about 90 lbs now and it has been rather hard. I am in college and single and my life is s busy with school and work. Even being a slow loser, I am so happy I was banded. I have never felt this confident and this in control of my body. I am making a goal to be under 200lbs by june which means I need to lose 20 pounds. I really know with hard work I can make it. Like many people my age, my life is unstructered so finding the right time to eat the right foods is hard but I am getting there. Its nice to meet you all and I cannot wait to chat more! Heddy
  2. I am jumping in rather late but, I kind of used to think about this when I first was banded a lot. I was banded over two years ago, I am a slow loser so needless to say I am only about 90 lbs lighter. I really tell everyone I meet. Dealing with guys I have decided to tell them at the very beginning. most of the time I will eat with them before any nakedness happens. So, one of my personal rules is to tell everyone I eat with in a personal setting about my band so that they dont feel weird about it. Some guys are weird though when you tell them. I have had guys who have even kissed my scars. To me, its not uncomfortable unless when I tell them they are quiet. Most will ask some questions and I just prefer to tell much before the pants are coming unzipped. Heddy
  3. Thank you for your message of encouragement on my blog. Its good to be reminded I have many people here to help support me! BTW, I was just looking through your pictures and you look really good! How far away from goal are you?

  4. Thank you for your comment on my blog. It really helps hearing from someone who is just starting out. Have you got a date scheduled yet? Remember, it is a constant struggle but we didnt get here for no reason. However, we ALL have the strength to make it through! Good luck with everything and keep me posted.

  5. Hi Julie, Thank you for your comment on my page. I am from Wichita but currently living in Lawrence, going to KU. I was banded by Dr. Malley December 18th and have been rather pleased with his team. I was looking through your pictures and you look great! Who banded you? Do you exercise well and stay on the correct diet track, any tips will help?

    Congratulations on your transformation!

    Re-committing.

Hi everyone in Band-land. This is my very first blog but, I decided it may help me in my progress. I am a month and a half away from my 2nd bandiversary. I started at 311 pounds on december 18 2007. I am now sitting at an uncomfortable 242...under 70 pounds lost. So, this blog is called re-committing for a reason. When I was banded, I went about things in the wrong way. I ate around my band, I got sick, I drank high calorie drinks, and I didnt work out. Over the first 50 pounds literally fell off. But now, to get to my next mini goal of 211, I am going to have to work. There will be no more college drinking in excess for me. I have kept weight on with starbucks and booze, but no more. I know I didnt get this way with sticking to a weight-loss plan but I am committing myself to one TODAY. Today, I am going to workout. I will purchase only healthy groceries, and I will not give in to empty cravings. I know before I have had much success around the holidays so, I am hoping this will prove true again. I suggest everyone that has lost their way, and is a slow loser does the same. These are the things I am committing to do... Workout for over an hour four times a week Write down EVERY calorie that I consume EAT SLOWER (NO GETTING SICK) Cut out high calorie drink I will be calling my doctor for an appointment this week to see him about possible fills. Please guys, any encouragement will help or advice! Have a GREAT day HEDDY

  9. Hi, I noticed you are form Kansas, me as well. I live in Lawrence and I was banded a year ago on December 18 by Dr. Malley in Kansas City. Just wanted to give you a shout out and say hey and ask who you were banded by. Good luck in your journey!

  10. I just found out that January 11 I am going to Cancun. So I have made a goal before I go seeing as I have a pretty aggressive fill, I think I can reach it. I weighed today and my weight was 248 so my goal is to lose 10 pounds before I go to Cancun. Now, the only way I am going to do this is by going to the gym ATLEAST 3 times a week!

So there are my goals, to lose 10 pounds in a month by working out ATLEAST 3 times a week, I WILL do it. another thing is since when I started at 311 I never took proper before pics and since I figure I am about half way to my journey I am going to take some real before's so that I can begin to tell the difference and have motivation to get this weight off for good!

I also need to be making sure I am drinking a protein shake every morning!

Oh and by the way, in any case that someone actually reads this I really do want to connect with some people on lapbandtalk because I know you guys will be great assets! Feel free to drop me a line!

    December 17 2007

I agree with telling him what he wants to hear. But I also wanted to contribute more to this discussion. I also feel the same way as you. I was banded ironically December 18 2007 a day after you and I started at 311 around may I had gotten down to 259, now as of September I am at 274. Real bummer, at the beginning of the summer if felt like my band just stopped working I had no feeling of restriction and I could eat anything in sight. I got two fills over the summer and neither of them seemed to make me feel any differently. I also found out that my port flipped sometimes however my doctor said no surgery was necessary unless it became a problem. Today I went in for a fill and I am now filled to 7.5 cc in a 10 cc band. I do feel slight restriction when drinking Water but havent tried food yet because I am not supposed to until thursday. Anyways, I wanted you to know you are not alone, I feel the same and we can work trough our struggles and it cannot be said enough but everyone is different so the band works differently for everyone! Heddy:huh2:

  19. Hi Merry Loser's, It has been quite a while since I have posted on here, seeing as I have been rather busy with school. sometimes I feel like I am too busy to eat band friendly foods and things that are not fatty sweets. But its always an excuse, I guess thats how I got in this predicament! Anyways, I am just checking in to see how everyone is, how is your band, are you progressing like you wanted to? Everything! I'll start... At the beginning of the summer I was at 259 from originally 311 so 52 pounds down. This summer, when I had time I really didn't work my program well and went to cabo and ate everything in sight :rolleyes2: Anyways, now, in september I am up to 274. so I am down on myself bu I know I will get back with it. All summer I have been feeling no restriction and so I couldnt control myself. I just got filled today and I am filled to 7.5cc in a 10 cc band. I am feeling a little bit more restriction already! So good news! I have made it my goal by Halloween to lose those 15 pounds so that I can look good in my costume! Starting monday my goal was to work out 4 times a week and not eat ANY fast food. So I will be trying really hard for the next month so that I can get right back on track!!!!So after my life story, how are you all? Heddy
  20. Hello all you MERRY LOSERS, i cant remember if I have written in this thread before but I think not. I am a 20 year old female from kansas. I was banded 12/18 by Dr. Stepen Malley in Kansas City, he is the most wonderful Doctor and he and his staff have helped through my journey thus far. I am down nearly 35 pounds in less than 3 months. I cant even believe it, this band has allowed me to to everything I have wanted and I have only just begun. I am hoping to eventually lose 100 more pounds along my journey. I have alot left to lose but it really does seem much smaller than before in comparison as to how quickly I have lost my 35lbs. So far, the main problems that I have had are with my band being a little too tight and I have had some PBing. I have been filled 3 times now and I have the 10cc band and I am filled to 4.3ccs. On my second fill I was filled rather tight and I could not hold anything down including Water. I was being stubborn so I didnt go back for five days to be unfilled. I lost 0 pounds and those 5 days and about 3 creeped back on. Also, my other problem I have had is what they call PBing. I think I need to learn to eat slower and I just read online that you need to wait 30 -60 seconds between bites. When I eat too quickly I will immeadiatly get this pain in my chest and alot of water in my mouth and then I start buring rather heavily and then water will come up . I dont count it as throing up but I do hear this can hurt your band. I hope not, I have tried to slow down and I have noticed I have gotten sick alot less. I try to follow most of my band rules but the one that is hard for me is the drinking 30 min before and after. I am so thristy wehn I eat. I hope you all are doing great and let me know some of your problems. We are all together in this and we need to support each other! Heddy

Hi all, My name is Heddy I am 20 years old and attend th University of Kansas. I was banded on 12-18-07 and have lost about 20 pounds. I love my band and everything. I had my first fill a week ago and I can definitly feel the restriction. I am wondering since you all are younger if you guys have tried drinking since you have had your band, I know it is a big no no but I have dabbled. I havent gotten sick from drinking ever so I am wondering really how bad it is if I dont drink it with high calorie mixers. my band feels really tight, I have a hard time with alot of stuff going down but I dont regret it for a second. I have had trouble also with stomach gas that I feel like I have to burp up to get rid of....any suggestions? I hope you all are doing well and let me know how much progress everyone has made or when you all are getting banded. Heddy
  22. Hi, I am Heddy a 20 year old from kansas. I was banded on the 18th of december in Kansas city Kansas by the wonderful Dr. Malley! so far I have lost about 15 lbs and got my first fill a week ago. Before my fill I could virtually eat anything I wanted and I have founf that after my fill I have had a hard time keeping food down because it has been hard for me to tell the difference between being full and ust feeling like I want more. I hope I can adjust to it soon. for those of you who have had fills have you had many problems adjusting to your filled band and if so how did you get over it? Thanks and I hope you all are doing GREAT, we are all in this together you know and I cant wait to see all of our progress!
